Should the Rams practice in cold weather this week?

Post by TXRamFan »

Its seems like the Rams struggle when playing in unfamiliar weather conditions. Should they arrive early in Chicago to practice in the cold? I think this would help them get ready for the game.

Answer, yes. That would be prudent. Getting there early to acclimate would be wise imo... But like NorCal stated, we will not.

Question, to all our posters who reside in snow, may I ask why you choose to live in those places?

Especially in the north, where it snows a ton and is mostly cold throughout the year.. is it by choice you live there or job/family reasons? Because I just cant imagine by choice... I mean having to put on 4 layers on the way out and then removing back indoors.. or salting the driveways/walkways, shoveling snow... and just being cold miserable... Hmmm

No bc they could get sick within 24 to 48 hours as their body adjust. That's what usually happens to me, at least, when I feel spend a lot of time outside after a drastic change of temp.

Imo fly in night before, do some walking around in it prior to the game, play the game, and experience any sickness on Monday, be good by Tuesday.

I live north east (born in philly), but it's nothing like Chicago. Some winters are better than others. Plan on retiring in warmer areas

No, practice in warm Socal; I lived in Decatur, IL for three years and it gets damn cold, windy, and snowy in January.

Rams need to focus on executing plays in practice; the cold inclement weather will be dealt with on game day.

Being in cold weather doesn't make you get sick or catch a cold..a human gets sick from being exposed to a virus. But the cold weather does make it easier for a virus to survive in..as compared to warm weather.

Me I would travel earlier have a practice or two in the elements because you want all 53 to feel the distinct difference. Cold weather especially at first is hard to get used to. Sure some players have played in outdoor stadiums in cold locations on other NFL teams as well as college environments but most my guess haven't and simple aclimation would help.

well apparently the Rams should just put up the white flag and save everybody the hassle, across the forums and videos / youtube comments, the consensus is the weather already won the game for the Bears, Rams are sitting ducks apparently

no one talks matchups, strategies, nope nothing, just the bears beat the Rams 1985 so its gonna be the same and Rams / Stafford, McVay suck in cold weather

If you want to pay a buttload in taxes, BUT want a nice warm climate... look at Palm Desert/La Quinta CA. I am out there about once to twice a month to golf and relax. Dont know what your retirement looks like and how much you have saved, but the desert out here has great places for ALL budgets. I just love it out there, I am about a 2 hour drive.

worst part about that 3rd and 2 sack is the center and guard both left the DT unblocked and chose to each participate in a separate double team, giving up a horrid sack.. we should have ran it till we got the first down and proceeded... almost looked rigged.. terrible sequence.. should have been SB champs last year.. than again I should have a HS championship ring as a near top team in the nation and #1 in the nation JC championship but lost both games in the last seconds.. AL Bundy style.

Limmer screwed up the line protection call. Limmer passed Carter off to Dotson, which would be fine if that was the line call, the issue is Dotson was waiting to see if a Eagle would blitz based off the line call.

A total miscommunication, so disappointing. One of the biggest reasons Mcvay went after a vet, Shelton. Who knows all the Rams offense and line blocking calls. Shelton isn't the best blocker, but there isn't any miscommunication or bad line calls.

How Mcvay ol protections are handled

The center is typically the "brain" of the offensive line. For the Rams, Coleman Shelton (who returned to the team in 2025) or Beaux Limmer (who stepped up as a key young starter) is responsible for the initial identification of the defensive front.
The "Mike" Identification: The center identifies the "Mike" (middle) linebacker to set the baseline for the protection or run scheme.
Combo Calls: He uses shorthand codes (like "Ace," "Deuce," or "Trey") to tell his fellow linemen which defenders they are double-teaming or who is climbing to the second level.

I never said they were soft. 10 degree weather is frigging cold. Real cold. I was at the 2018 game in Denver. It was 18 degrees and colder than a witches tit. Gurley ran for 200 yards. That was pretty much all we could do against a below average Bronco team. It was cold. This game will most likely be a low-scoring game. I'm not sure that favors the Rams. I think we'll need to run the ball really well in order to win. I never said they have to play in perfect weather conditions. I wanted them to go to Philly. If the Rams lose this weekend everyone will blame the cold...lol
