With Jags Victory, Would You Sit Nacua for Saints?

Post by Jacksnow »

With such a demonstrative win against Jags, do you sit Nacua for Saints? Keep him fresh, injury free for future games where he will be needed? Also, yes I am taking the Saints for granted, how soon would you pull Stafford if Rams have a comfortable led?

If Nucua is close to 100 healthy he should play.

I would 100% go with whatever the medical staff says. If they say he is good to go he plays…………..

Two things:

1) I think it is bad mojo to sit healthy guys, unless the final seed is locked up. Even then you could argue the benefit of it. I think it brings a fear / playing not to get hurt vibe that I want no part of, and stunts team cohesion.

2) How long have you been watching this club? (no offense, I know you are a legit fan) We are capable of losing to ANY team on ANY week - the 2020 loss to the 1-13 Jets comes to mind. We've already GIVEN away two NFC games. We can't mess around.

I couldn't of have said it any better myself. I forgot about the loss to the Jets in 2020. Cost us the division and who knows that team was #1 that year on defense. As I've said McVay's resume is littered with season destroying losses which should not have happened.

I concur wholeheartedly, if we want to win the Superbowl we can't fuck around any more and need to go 13-4 minimum to secure home field probably.

Is Stafford 100%? Is anybody at the end of October in the NFL? Agreed we don't need to push any boundaries or put him in harms way. But if he can go - he should go IMO.

Well said and agreed.

It is interesting to think about. If Nacua is back and Stafford/McVay ignore spreading things around and we lose......

Hey I wish we spread the ball around more when Nocua is out there. But the guy is almost uncover-able. The history of this league since the rule changes have been if your elite WR is open he gets the ball………….

Very true. Of course we are better with Puka. The thing to watch is how many "forced" 3rd down balls are at Nacua or Adams. 3 and out. We can def plan on not seeing 13 man with both Adams and Nacua active. But hopefully McVay keeps em guessing.

Honestly had not thought about that. One of the best parts of last Sunday was hitting like NINE different receivers throughout the game. It would be nice to have that kind of diversity in the attack AND a guy that you can just go to for a key first down, even when everyone in the stadium knows it's going to him. Doesn't mean he has to have 18 targets (w apologies to the PN fantasy owners  )

This! I get it if you are healthy million dollar player play him. BUT, we will need Puca down the road. If not 100% sit him.

Actually the Jets were winless (0-13) going into that game, the Rams were 9-4 with two of their losses having come to an injury-crippled 49ers team, another to the Dolphins who were starting a rookie at QB.

I'm an old enough fan to recall the Good Guys losing to a weak version of the Jets back in 1970, an upset which ultimately cost them the NFC West title and a playoff berth.

So I'm in agreement, our team needs to play at as much full strength as it can muster vs. *every* opponent...  :!:

If he’s 100%, play him AND play 13 personnel. Time to crank up the run game and get a bit more physical heading into a crucial stretch.

I remember that too Coach. The Rams missed the playoffs with 10 and 11 wins a couple of those years....Minnesota and GB were the 2 teams we couldn't get around in the Gabriel era and losses to bad teams cost you the playoffs in those days!

1970 was George Allen's last year as head coach of the Rams (although he held the position briefly again during the '78 preseason), they missed the playoffs at 9-4-1 while the 49ers won the NFC West at 10-3-1 and the Lions got the conference's only 'wild card' berth at 10-4. Since our team had split with the 49ers and had a better divisional record, if the Good Guys had beaten that hapless Jets team they presumably would have been division champions.

Focusing particularly on the Saints, the Rams' season-opening upset loss to them the following year ('71) was critical to our team again just missing the playoffs, thus it taking the 2025 Saints lightly would be a major mistake...

I swear we need to connect coach with the RAMS. He’s a walking encyclopedia Britannica all things Rams. Extremely commendable and amazing.

He’s like McVay remembering things.

Yeah, I remember back in the 1970's when the Rams lost to the Atlanta Falcons (who sucked) on Monday Night Football. I think the score was 17-6. And then there was the time all the way back a few weeks ago when the Rams lost to the Niner's JV team...good times, good times.
