Murphy's law.....was the one real position of concern(if starter goes down).

Last line.. my take... if DJ can still play, which is not a given either. But im still hopeful Alaric can be healthy enough by week 1 based on when things were caught

I click the link and get a Kendricks article; just thought I'd let you know Brooklyn.

Re: Looks Like D.J. Humphries Is Our Starting Left Tackle
This contract is fair and DJ should stay all year even if AJ is healthy enough to start week 1.
AJ and Hav are both injury prone. Rams needs a proven vet tackle and DJ fits.
Humphries’ contract is for one year and $2.5 million. It includes $2.34 million guaranteed, giving him a cap hit of $2.36 million for the upcoming season.

I’m not sure how one can conclude that Humphries is the starting LT after reading that article. I think the only think that comes out of that article is in all likelihood he will be on roster for the entire upcoming season.

Agreed
Even if AJ was fully healthy, the contract for DJ seems reasonable for a backup that will play alot bc AJ (prior to the blood clots) and Hav didn't have the best health record.

Re: Looks Like D.J. Humphries Is Our Starting Left Tackle
Brooklyn,
Thanks for the new link; it worked for me.
I was surprised to hear Alaric is still in Detroit and not out here in Socal getting medical attention. I guess they have the option to stay close to home if they chose in the off-season-even when they need team medical supervision and input.
I wonder if it's time to go raiding someone's PS for an OT to groom?

Sure I guess if one wants to speculate……….BrooklynRam74 wrote: ↑July 1st, 2025, 2:39 pm
That's a true point.
By the same token, is "out for 8 weeks" out of the question?
"Out for the season" out of the question?
"RE-TIREMENT" out of the question? I wonder.......???
Again you state as a thread description that the article indicates Humphries is probably going to start at LT. It doesn’t. Quite misleading IMO………..
People live working lives with a blood clot history. Again it’s the potential bleeding when cut with thin blood that is the main concern. And yes as I’ve already stated I would assume even more so with a NFL player. But until someone says he actually isn’t this team’s starting LT………..

Re: Looks Like D.J. Humphries Is Our Starting Left Tackle
I was expecting to see a three-year deal at $7 million a year. A one year $2.4 million year does not lead me to believe that the Rams are looking at DJ as a long-term solution. Although he can change that
I was on the Alaric bandwagon early, I'm a big fan, I'm pulling for the guy and I think he's gonna be OK. My dad dealt with blood clots for a long time, they can be managed. I hope we will see him early in the season.

He is insurance and might start early on. I am hoping Jackson will be back in the lineup by mid September. But who really knows except his doctors.

He only played 2 games last year but I look at like he can’t possibly be worse than Arcuri or McClendon

Problems at the LT position could potentially torpedo our team's entire 2025 season... :? :( :x

The good news is DJ is talented with upside and even if AJ can play, DJ is a great depth move.

Re: Looks Like D.J. Humphries Is Our Starting Left Tackle
He is a solid LT he will be fine and will be our starting LT assuming Alaric doesn't come back right away. He is penalty prone but was very solid for AZ. It would behoove McVay and our OC to be really smart with him and have TEs chip and keep a RB in.
What McVay imo sometimes forgets is Stafford is a non mobile QB he is not a statue like Goff or Brady but close enough. He is a non mobile pocket QB and that being said protecting him MUST be priority 1 on the entire team. So we can't put 5 in the pattern big deal put 4 chip and keep a back in and give a very seasoned and talented QB time to find his wrs open. But if Stafford has to worry about his backside it will be 2022 all over again. Pocket passers really fail when the OL sucks and LT and C are the 2 key areas for right handed QBs. So let's sacrifice a little to we understand how well he is holding up.
We have seen what Noteboom and others have done at LT and it hasn't been pretty. Our backups do have another year and off-season camp to help their cause but to me ability trumps years of experience.
