Limmer??
Want to get everyone's take on Limmer. It was 1 year ago that MOST of us in here were pretty excited that we had our future C in this guy. Next thing you know, he shits the bed on the most important drive of last year, gets benched for Shelton, and now looks like trash as a backup G- especially in pass protect. He was one of the guys allowing the blocked kick. What happened? Is he better at C? Did he regress? Was he not good last year- his stats were great i think among rookie OL guys. I don't get what happened. But it sucks. Thought we were deep at G and now we need better G play. Thoughts?

Re: Limmer??
Is it Limmer or coaching decision to play him in a position he can't should not play. Also he is a what round draft pick 6th? who is expected to be a starting guard in the NFL. He is fine as a BACK UP CENTER. Before we crucify Limmer, this one maybe all on the coaching decision. Also, I am an Atwell fan, but could that money have been spent on O-Line?

Re: Limmer??
Part of my point was that Limmer got high marks last year at C. He did have a lot of penalties. Not sure bringing in Shelton was the answer- I would have rather had Limmer continue at that spot. He may not be the answer. It does look like we need to go heavy OL in draft now. Thought the OL was not gonna be a big issue unless the LT/RT went down. Now it's all about the middle 3. Back to the drawing board I guess. I HOPE we will look better with Dotson/Avila healthy. And I wish we kept Lampkin!

Re: Limmer??
I think we should give him this wkend to prove us wrong.
As of right now, hes not worth being on the 53 IMO... but, maybe he'll come around.

Re: Limmer??
Was a huge fan of Limmer & must now admit his considerable regression - Why ? Who knows but he does not seem comfortable @ G and his play vs Philly late in the game last year ( and it appeared to be a blown line protection call more than anything) seemed to sour the Rams staff on him - and perhaps he has soured as a result ? We don’t know but this IOL group cannot continue playing at this level / includes Shelton and his poor play.

Re: Limmer??
Not sure how i feel. Overall he was a solid rookie last year. Philly mistake was obviously not great. Hopefully Avila can come back and same with Dotson.
Not sure Shelton was sone massive upgrade never a huge fan.

Re: Limmer??
This is a fantastic original post. I think we are too quick to judge, whether its for positive or negative play. Its ok to be excited about a player, but we need to give guys time, like Ferguson for example. Let's hope Ferguson doesn't turn out to be the next Joe Kloepenstein.

Re: Limmer??
Not sure what is going on with Limmer. I agree with what others have said. Maybe he is out of position. Still young and learning. All I know is, please Rams make him inactive if we see the Eagles in the playoffs. Limmer and the Eagles just don't mix well right now.

Re: Limmer??
He was inactive, I think they wanted to go with bigger blocking TE's for this game, but may know realize they need another weapon.ocram23 wrote: ↑September 23rd, 2025, 8:54 amwhere was Ferguson last weekend? was he hurt?Slickjack wrote: ↑September 23rd, 2025, 8:37 am This is a fantastic original post. I am going to be patient but I never liked this pick. trading out of the 1st round instead of taking a LT may haunt us.

Re: Limmer??
Good pint Malibu.. I think w Avila out, it messed up the continuity and rhythm these guys have built up over summer. The entire line just seemed off this last game.

Re: Limmer??
I was feeling very good last year, I can even get by the snafu in Philly, but this team has to make a decision, is he strictly a backup center and leave it at that and decide if a roster spot is worth that or do you continue to try and make him into a guard and continue to put up with his very POOR play at that position. I think the player and coaching staff has to have a sit down and make sure there is an understanding his play is unacceptable, enough with the family crap and us keeping the Limmer's, Atwell's and Reeder's around.

Re: Limmer??
Would things be better with Limmer at center and Shelton at guard?
I’m still curious about McMahon.

Re: Limmer??
Interesting thought - Limmer is big strong raw & given to mental errors - Shelton lacks the size & power to handle NFL DTs - We do know the current set up is NOT good enough to challenge for a SB run and MS and his health are at risk in the end - he has ZERO escapability at this point in his career. Also the IOL scenario may be a big factor in the Rams inability to throw deep and stretch the field.

Re: Limmer??
My take? Oc n I have talked about this for years in here. Judge a player after year 3. He is a center not a guard. Either he starts at center over Shelton, my preference, or he is center2 behind Shelton. Start someone else at guard if Avila n Dotson can’t play any given game……….

Re: Limmer??
I’m curious about McMahon too. They liked him last year and he started in the last game against Seattle. He was the first guy off the bench in another game too. He didn't play at all in the preseason and I thought he was safe because they said he was healthy. Some other source said he was injured. Anyway, I don't see him coming off the PS unless someone gets IR'd.

Re: Limmer??
Fwiw, he played RG all year in 2022 and the bowl game at center. In 2023 he played center all year and one game at LG. So in college at least he's played both positions equally.RAMFAN71 wrote: ↑September 23rd, 2025, 6:59 am Want to get everyone's take on Limmer. His NFL position might be OC instead of OG but we have to remember he's still a young developing OL, especially at OG. I don't think it helped that Dotson was out on the other side and it was him and Dedich.
Personally, I think he needs more time to develop so am not giving up on him yet.

Re: Limmer??
Yeah- I'm not buying that he's great at C, but not at G. I get that C maybe better suited for him- probably is. I don't wanna give up on him, but he needs to NOT see the field and get coached up on technique. He is getting blown up in pass protection, and also on the FG unit. Cannot let him back on the field. Roll with McClendon or bring up someone else. Limmer needs help on the practice field.
