Would You Trade....
I read an article about Cincinatti and the other teams down QB1 for a lengthy time trading for a current top end backup QB to come in and start. Of course Jimmy G was at the top of the list. Both for his talent and pedigree along with his friendly contract. Would you as the Rams GM trade Jimmy if you were offered a 3rd rnd pick?
Im selfish when it comes to QBs.. So I say a emphatic "NO" . Simply because Stafford isn't far from possibly going down himself IMO. I like Stetson, but I don't really want to find out if he's the 2nd coming of Baker Mayfield if you know what I mean.

Re: Would You Trade....
Before the pre-season i would have said no but Stetson has been pretty stellar in the pre season so i would definitely do this.
But in return i would ask for first option on Burrow in any future trade.

Re: Would You Trade....
Absolutely no. The odds of JG starting for the Rams this year IMO are very high. I just read four NFL QBs are injured to date. As we all know Stafford is tough, but I expect will be out for a game or two. I hope not. Bennett would not want season in his hands.

Re: Would You Trade....
Personally i think that if Stafford goes down the season is all but lost... JG is ok, but in the NFC we need Stafford healthy to get to the playoffs imo. I also believe Burrow would be NFL MVP working with McVay and I personally would be prepared to give a lot away to get him but only after Stafford hangs up his cleats. My two concerns on Burrow is his salary and injuries. Although i do believe McVay can work with him to keep him better protected. Given this, I would take a 3 and an option on Burrow for JG without much thought.duanevalle22 wrote: ↑September 16th, 2025, 6:58 amI dunno..... Stetson cant even see over me.... But he did win in college, but I'm not sure how that translates to pros. And yes he looked much better in preseason compared to 2024 where he completed more passes to the other team than ours....lol
For now I would stay away from Burrow, until we see how his toe responds. But if he were healthy I would do a 1 for 1 with Stafford and keep both our current backups.

Re: Would You Trade....
I disagree the season would be lost with Jimmy G at the helm. He probably is the best backup of the 32 teams and better than some of the starters like Young, Fields, Smith etc. He led SF to a SB and with the team he has around him barring injuries this team even with Jimmy has a shot in the playoffs.
Hopefully Matt plays the entire season plus.

100% agree with you. I have confidence in JG leading the team.malibu wrote: ↑September 16th, 2025, 8:18 am I disagree the season would be lost with Jimmy G at the helm. Re: Would You Trade....
That was a long time ago but 'm not denying he is an ok game manager now. But I just don't see him leading us anywhere anymore... Just my opinion... i hope never to need to be proven wrong thoughmalibu wrote: ↑September 16th, 2025, 8:18 am I disagree the season would be lost with Jimmy G at the helm. But honestly that won't happen either as I think the Rams are happy with Stafford and he does look really good right now. And if the Rams beat the Eagles this Sunday...... I wouldn't trade anyone... Keep Stafford and Nacua healthy and we will be in the playoffs.

"I THINK the Rams are happy with Stafford". That right there is why he wont be taken serious.

Re: Would You Trade....
Yes, I would trade him for a 3rd rounder. He is on a 1 year deal. We are probably screwed either way if JG or Stetson has to play. I think Stetson can give us 1-2 games as well as JG.
I think the question would be who would be our 3rd QB.

Re: Would You Trade....
You can ask, but it's illegal for a team to commit to something like this, especially when the player is currently in a contract (tampering).
Not only that, if Burrows discovered this agreement, how do you think he would take it? What if he hates L.A.?.
What they could do is begin the process of initial conversations if the Bengals and Burrrows were all on board to make a trade, but then we would have to look at his remaining contract and if we would be able to take that on. Next season, Bengals dead cap on Burrows is $56M, but in '27, it's much more manageable. So if a trade was to made at all for Joe, I think it would be in two seasons.
Lastly, sure, they can do a gentlemen's agreement, but this is a billion dollar business, and if Burrows ever comes up for auction, you best believe its the highest bidder, NOT to some team you made a handshake with a few years back.
Nice try though ;)

Re: Would You Trade....
Good point about tampering.. but I think (not looked into it) that tampering is only considered so if the team is not aware of the conversations i.e. player talking to other team behind current teams back. But as I said, I haven't looked into the official definition by the NFL.DelMar wrote: ↑September 16th, 2025, 11:01 amYou can ask, but it's illegal for a team to commit to something like this, especially when the player is currently in a contract (tampering).

Re: Would You Trade....
Agreed! I would much rather have Jimmy Garoppolo as our team's short-term starter this year, should that become necessary.
Plus I'm uncertain if Joe Burrow will ever be fully long-term healthy again, so I can't envision the Rams even trying to trade for him... :? ;)
