Just so I'm understanding possibilities!!
So win against the 49ers or Cards loss and the Rams are the 2nd seed? Could mean a rematch with the 49ers or Eagles!! A loss and the Cards win is a 5th seed and a visit to Dallas?" Correct? Go Rams!!!

However, the Rams will likely be only the #5 seed in the NFC if they lose, a highly problematical situation due to their recent inability to perform even halfway decently vs. the 49ers.SoCalRam78 wrote: ↑January 2nd, 2022, 9:14 pm
Rams will be a two seed w a win. Nothing anyone else can do to prevent that.

The Cards aren't assured of beating the Hags next week AFAIC.... they're only 3-4 at home.
The NFC West are a combined 15-15 at home 23-11 on the road...
The whole Division has a better road than home record... except Seattle who is 3-5 on both.

Re: Just so I'm understanding possibilities!!
Barring the Buccaneers being upset by the Panthers, that's how it would work should our team lose to the 49ers (again) while the Cardinals defeat the Seahawks (again), I'm figuring. (Eagles vs. Rams wouldn't be a "rematch" from this year's regular season though.)
If both the Good Guys and Cardinals were to lose next weekend, victories by the Buccaneers and Cowboys would drop the Rams to the #4 seed in the NFC, they would then face the Cardinals at home in the 'wild card' round of the playoffs, I believe... ;)

Didn't you ever watch "The Shawshank Redemption," definitely the best-ever adaptation of a Stephen King literary work?NorCal RF wrote: ↑January 2nd, 2022, 10:16 pmSeriously commish why watch the game then………Commish wrote: ↑January 2nd, 2022, 9:48 pm

Re: Just so I'm understanding possibilities!!
The #2 seed would be extremely valuable. In Week 18 the 49ers are underdogs and the Saints are favourites. If both games go as expected the #2 Rams will play the #7 Saints with the 49ers out of the playoffs. We would then be at home in the divisional round if/when we win.
Lose in Week 18 and we're looking at 3 road games.

And here lyeth the problem. The only way the 49'rs guarantee their playoff status as the 7th seed is to win.Commish wrote: ↑January 2nd, 2022, 9:48 pmHowever, the Rams will likely be only the #5 seed in the NFC if they lose, a highly problematical situation due to their recent inability to perform even halfway decently vs. the 49ers.SoCalRam78 wrote: ↑January 2nd, 2022, 9:14 pm

They will be going all guns blazing against us.
Which Matty turns up on the day, who knows? The Good, The Bad or The Ugly?
Time to get the prayer books out folks.
EDIT: Saints @ Falcons & 49rs @ Rams are both on at the same time 4:25 ET

Re: Just so I'm understanding possibilities!!
The ideal scenario. Yeah the Rams have lost 5 in a row to the Whiners; but NONE of those games meant what this game means. #2 seed. Home playoff game and possibly throughout the playoffs if Green Bay gets upset (very common in the Rodgers era). Rams are playing at home. Rams are a different team than the first meeting. Miller and OBJ have settled in, and are playing as advertised. Michel has brought a "toughness" to the offense. Rams win. Saints win. Whiners out of the playoffs. This would be so sweet!flv wrote: ↑January 3rd, 2022, 12:16 am The #2 seed would be extremely valuable. In Week 18 the 49ers are underdogs and the Saints are favourites.
