Re: Rams Sign WR DeSean Jackson
Bottom post of the previous page:
Rams were interested in Ross but Giants got himBut they also wanted a burner to pair with Kupp and Woods as targets for Matthew Stafford. That’s why the Rams looked at John Ross, who signed with the Giants, before eventually signing 34-year-old DeSean Jackson for that role.

If we are in a situation where he has hammy issues or whatever then it won't be a positive.

He only gets the 6.25 if he performs. (Incentive based)Mike Schad 1st Rd wrote: ↑March 25th, 2021, 3:14 pmWow. Good reporting Cornell. At that number we're gonna NEED some production from DJ....
No reports of guaranteed money. So if he gets injured or he doesn't shine before the season the rams can cut him.

At 4.5 mil??? Did you call that too? Coulda had John Ross AND Aldon Smith. lol. DJax better be worth it. This even hurts our chances of signing a top speed WR in the draft. 24 games missed - last 2 years. 6.25 million if he maxes out. .....here we go.

Re: Rams Sign WR DeSean Jackson
4.25 base. And what is the vet minimum for some with his tenure? $1.075m? We kept on hearing by some the last few days until the terms are announced........ it’s going to be a low to close to minimum contract......Mike Schad 1st Rd wrote: ↑March 25th, 2021, 3:23 pmThe number I meant was the 4.25. I HOPE he makes the 6.25.
You all can spin this however you want but this is way too much for a player with his resume the last two years. What has some other FA WR gotten, a bit more, around or less than this that have actually played the last two years?

Ross was 2.2 million but Ross also have injury concerns. A healthy D Jack >> Healthy Ross.

It’s not peanuts Mike on 3/25 with his resume the last two years. Not when he really should not have gotten much more than the vet minimum and my guess is no one else was going to give close to what he got here.Mike Schad 1st Rd wrote: ↑March 25th, 2021, 4:16 pmIt's still peanuts. Re: Rams Sign WR DeSean Jackson
4.25 compared to 1.075. That’s the point. A point in regards to that 3m+ or the entire 4.25 could have been used elsewhere. It’s not a good signing today. It may eventually be but not today.Cornell29 wrote: ↑March 25th, 2021, 4:22 pmI still don't get what the risk is. Re: Rams Sign WR DeSean Jackson
Where is the proof that you could have got D Jackson cheaper? If D Jackson balls out then it won't matter.
Who is the rams getting for 1 million? John Ross who is also injury prone and doesn't have the talent of D Jackson got 2.2.
Maybe the rams should have paid 3.5 instead of 4.5. I'm really supposed to get upset about a extra million? How exactly does that hurt the cap?
I've already been down this path with Floyd last year when many said he was overpaid. We all seen how that wasn't true. Its the same thing every year. I'll see how it plays out and judge it in full at the end of the season.
In 2017 some here were saying Woods got paid too much.
Same thing just different year.

Re: Rams Sign WR DeSean Jackson
There is also the factor that Djax knows McVay's system already. So he can pretty much come in and know his assignments. It's just a matter of learning the new wrinkles. That wont take long. He's not gonna be a full timeer with snaps..At least I hope not. So hopefully that will keep the injuries fron being a problem again.Mike Schad 1st Rd wrote: ↑March 25th, 2021, 4:32 pmFunny how McVay couldn't see how Ross is better than Jackson at half the price. Here you go again Mike. Boy is it getting old. Why can’t we stick to conversation that is his contract as it relates to his recent production?Mike Schad 1st Rd wrote: ↑March 25th, 2021, 4:32 pmFunny how McVay couldn't see how Ross is better than Jackson at half the price. Re: Rams Sign WR DeSean Jackson
Yeah it's a million more then I thought. I was thinking 3.5 since Ross got 2.2.
I'm still waiting to see how much if any is guaranteed.
When It comes to signing free agents McSnead has done a very good job over the years. I'm expecting this to be a good move as well based off the rams free agent track record.
Whit, Woods, Floyd, D Will, Talib, Suh, Sullivan etc

If DJax is as active as this thread, he’s going for 100, 1,500 and 25, plus a couple PRs to the house.

I don't get all worked up about DJX number of games played last year. Nobody in the Eagles wanted to take the field. It was a complete circus. The way I see it is that he's coming in well rested and ready to go. I will start the bidding at 8 TDS next year for Jax.

Hey, Mike. Just having fun. I hope DJax works out. Veteran experience counts. I just can’t imagine it was a bidding war.Mike Schad 1st Rd wrote: ↑March 25th, 2021, 4:07 pmNo. Had no idea of the price. Just figured the "deep threat" would be him and IF healthy is better than Ross easy...

VERY well rested, he played in even less games in 2019 (3) than he did in 2020 (5).Ramsfan08ny wrote: ↑March 25th, 2021, 6:31 pm I don't get all worked up about DJX number of games played last year. 2.75 base and 3.26 cap number This contract is fine with me.
He only gets more money of he performs and plays 50 percent if the snaps.
He gets a extra million if the rams make the playoffs.
Again where is the risk?

He has a 3.26 cap number with incentives. I thought he would cost 3.5 with incentives.

Re: Rams Sign WR DeSean Jackson
Agreed--at best, DeSean Jackson might be worth $2.0 million for the 2021 season.
The Rams are paying way too much for a guy to hang out with Terrell Lewis on the sideline in street clothes... :( :? :x
ram pathos...

2.0? That's less then what Ross got. Ross got 2.2 million with incentives. D Jack has a 2.75 base. He doesn't get any of his incentives if he is sitting on the sideline with Lewis.

As for drafting a speedy WR, I would agree. The Rams have been drafting for a year or two out in anticipation of needs. This years drafts offers several super fast WR’s that can be had in mid-rounds.
