PLAYOFFS

Post by DelMar »

Ok, we're in... here we go...

My dream path...

• Rams win @ Carolina
• Rams win @ Seattle
• Rams win @ Sofi (either San Francisco or Green Bay) for the NFC Chip game..

• SB at Levi Stadium Rams VS. Chargers. All CA game, location and both teams.

Dreamy

Now, if we can just figure out our D secondary ... that would be helpful.

Saw this:

1. Los Angeles Rams (No. 5 seed, NFC)
“The Rams are the NFL's best team, and if they'd just behaved like it on one or two more plays, it wouldn't really more obvious. Matthew Stafford has played at an MVP level, even if he doesn't actually win the award. Puka Nacua is nearly unstoppable, and the return of Davante Adams should only make the NFL's best offense even more dangerous. He's not the only starter who will be back for the postseason: Left tackle Alaric Jackson and defensive back Quentin Lake will also join the party.”

“ The Rams led the Eagles by 19 in the third quarter and the Seahawks by 16 in the fourth quarter and somehow lost both games. A big reason was special teams miscues, but the Rams have since replaced their kicker and their coordinator. The defense can be susceptible, especially when the pass rush isn't wreaking havoc, but if the Rams can simply finish games, they are the rightful Super Bowl favorites. The defense can be susceptible, especially when the pass rush isn't wreaking havoc.”

JMO I think the secondary knocks this opinion down quite a bit……………….

I agree - Can our interior OL hold up - and - Can our secondary cover and tackle at any acceptable level . If yes and yes this Rams team can win it all. Two VERY BIG ifs.

Bottomline, we just need to work all 4 qtrs and finish games. Like you and I both have stated many times in here, we know the Rams are one of the best teams in the NFL (no homer-ism needed). Just is what it is, Rams have the talent... Rams just need to figure out how to use that talent ALL FOUR QTRS OF THE DAMN GAMES... and to me, this falls on Shula and McVay... I mean, these guys can play GREAT for 3 qtrs, why not 4?.

If we dont figure this out, it's on to next year imo.

Re: PLAYOFFS

Post by therealheadslap75 »

well first I think McVay needs to coach on offense like he's trying to move the chains in the first quarter, it's very strange because he will take deep shots, when he's trying to run out the clock but at the same time is cautious about throwing a ball on third and three in the fourth quarter with a lead

While we have a good running game I can see us having some trouble with Philly, with San Francisco and with Seattle when they know we are going to run

When he is on rhythm none of these teams can stop McVey's short passing game and I think he has to be very conscious that that is a weapon that he has to use to close out a game

On the defensive side of the ball, we can't stop trying to stop the short pass, with today's kickoff game a touchback gets you the ball on the 35, you get a few first downs and you're in the red zone, so disregarding the short pass is really foolish but something that we have done too many times.

Just need the O to execute. Block your man (OL and blockers), don't drop passes (receivers especially Park), don't force passes (Stafford), and protect the ball and take what ever the D is willing to give. If they want to take away run, then pass, if they line up to take away pass, then run.

On D, front seven needs to control the LOS and get pressure on the qb. On the back end... well let's just say wishes, hopes and dreams are needed.

Not looking good for the Niners. NFL shouldn't allow this to happen for appearances alone, but NFL just doesn't care I guess.

I hate the Niners, but when Rams win this week, I won't cheer for Niners, but I rather them win that over Eagles. I don't want to play the eagles in philly. Rather play at Chicago or Niners in LA

Look, I want to be positive here… so let me give this a whack…

Rams won 12 games despite playing the hardest schedule in the NFL, according to TeamRankings. Los Angeles went 4-4 in games against playoff teams, but that doesn't tell the full story…

They had a controversial overtime loss to the Seahawks, aided by a strange 2-point conversion ruling by referees. In addition, they had a wild loss to the Eagles when the Rams had a potential game-winning 44-yard field goal blocked and returned for a touchdown in the final seconds.

In other words, Los Angeles could easily be 14-3 and the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

Absolutely agree. Even with the 3 very tough losses it’s been a hell of a good season. 12 wins defines this……

I just hate this secondary DM. IMO it’s going to rear its ugliness every playoff game including this Saturday. The good news is this offense can put up 30+ most games rather easily. I don’t think it is fair though that they have to for this team to win n advance. It leaves no room for error for the offense………

I don’t see the 9ers winning in Philly, they’re injuries are probably caught up to them

That means we’d go to Philly after we beat the brakes off the Panthers.

Unless the Bears beat the Packers?Which I doubt as well,Packers and Bears are evenly matched but Pack have Pllayoff experience which should be the difference

we head to Seattle if we beat the Panthers.

and the Rams have 5 losses by a combined 11 points, two games in over time. this has been gone over quite a bit. The Rams threw every game they lost, completely in control and capable of winning each and every one, Philly and Seattle had complete freak historic comebacks. 49'ers, Panthers and Falcons had at least 8 turnovers in those games and bad special teams etc.

17 games and the Rams have never not been in a position to win every single game. even in the 1 game they went down big, 21-0 on the road in Atlanta.. they were in position to win the game at the very end.. and should have if not for a horrible missed PI call and 2-3 missed throws.

1 game at a time. I will echo the thoughts that our secondary is THE biggest issue, and we are just not the same team as we were mid season. Offense needs to...and I mean NEEDS to keep the d off the field. Can't believe we had a top 5 D earlier, because now we look like bottom 3. Let's go Stafford & Co.!!!

There is no doubt we can defeat any team in the NFL, if we play to our potential. The Rams cannot look past Carolina to a Seahags rematch. We need to settle down and take a game at a time. The D with the return of Lake may be the big difference. Ram On!

Lake no question is our best DB. Glad he is back but we will see at what level after injury. That said…….

Let’s not kid ourselves this secondary is going to give it up including tomorrow. Fortunately we have an elite offense that can put up 30+ each game. Thank god because they are going to need to………

Lost by 7 to the Eagles, 3 to the 9ers, 3 to the Falcons, 3 to the Panthers and 1 to the Hags = 5 Losses by 17 points.
Still pretty damn good. You aren't giving the Eagles credit for their Blocked FG/Return TD on the last play of the game.
