Many people on this board were calling for Morris's head for years and yet Shula is deemed by the same as head coaching material...risible...

What uniform number does Shula wear?

Cause I didn’t see him out there in position to make a tackle and just whiff

It’s his job to put players in position to make plays

Saw plenty of that,it’s the players job to make the plays, didn’t see a whole lot of that

Rams don’t have a talented defense. JAGs in secondary and Omar Speights.

Agree with that. But guys being completely open for easy receptions constantly is a scheme issue. Not talent.

His schemes aren't the best, I agree with you. I don't even like his approach, just pointing out the lack of talent. I don't think Shula is the right guy to come up with a approach to hide the talent this team lacks, but hopefully he figures it out wildcard week when Q return.

I have zero faith he will. Lake will be rust and all the other defensive players are basically jags at this point.

I don’t know what other scheme you could use with the guys we got.

Turner/Verse/Young/Landman/Ford are solid players. But none of them are superstars, and the other 6 guys are either JAGs or just not good.

Rams really aren’t spending much on D in terms of salaries so I’m not gonna blame the defensive staff when not much has been invested on that side of the ball vs offense.

When we had AD/Ramsey/Miller/Suh…big names and big money on defense yea for sure expect a lot. But this group no.

I can agree with this assessment . Very little capital invested in that side of the team . Not even sure why Verse and young were sent to the pro bowl ? I mean Verse has some pressures but only 6 sacks and how many missed tackles ? All he does is whiff . Young started the season strong and since then , has been less than a JAG . The lack of talent is EVIDENT I agree , but I still think Shula is doing a very shitty job .

The scheme he runs is always vulnerable to giving up leads. We have seen it over and over again.
We are going nowhere in the playoffs unless the scheme dramatically changes.
I noticed tonight Morris wasn’t running the same bend but don’t break defense he did with that Rams. This tells me McVay is the one who wants this type of defense.
Great offensive mind, doesn’t know shit about defense.

Exactly . I have been saying this style of defense that is being run here comes from the TOP . It comes from the HC .

Media made this defense sound better than it really iwas.We can talk about STs being a major problem but this defense when needed to make crucial stops in games they lost, once again came up small. To me the D line is overrated and its lack of pressure getting to the QB is exposing an below average secondary

It's the same defense the eagles run. Eagles has the artitect of the D, Vic Fangio. Yes it's passive but you are able to generate pressure from it. There is no rule you can't blitz or stack the line. Shula just isn't knowledgeable enough in the scheme and isn't attacking enough bc he is worried about the secondary. That's where the eagles and Rams differ. Vic Fangio doesn't worry about attacking from it bc he has a solid secondary, unfortunately Rams secondary lacks talent.

McSnead screwed up. This team lacks talent in the secondary, and the DC they picked isn't knowledgeable/experienced enough to get around the lack of talent. Most DCs won't be able to do it.

The difference the Eagles know when to attack the offense.
Shula sits back no matter what the situation and allows the offense to dictate everything.

Agree here. We need a veteran DC to hide flaws . Either that OR you spend more on this side of the ball to hire real talent and then , and only then , you can ride with a DC that is still learning on the job.

The last drive tonight.
From me I would have two deep safeties and an eight man front then either bring the house or drop into coverage… and mix things up.
This defense never confuses anyone.

Rams defense isn’t talented. Sorry. That simple. Philly has a weakness and drafts Cooper Dejean and Q Mitchell. Brings in Braun. Drafts Jihad Campbell. A GM who gets you need talent.

Rams basically lucked into a LB they signed for a mil. Bunch of washed losers in secondary. Witherspoon is a trash heap guy. Williams a cap casualty and washed. Forbes a bust reclamation project. Kinchens is okay. Meanwhile we’re drafting running backs in 4th round.

The realty is we do not have a defense that can get key stops when they need them and that is never more evident than the last two weeks.

McVay is the real architect of this soft a$$ defense! Shula just stands there looking like he is in charge.

I think teams have figured out our weak points and successfully attacked them.

Now, do we counter OR keep doing what we’ve been doing?

I won't shed any tears if Shula departs at end of season. We need a new Defensive scheme--perhaps like the Vikings.

Glendora, I agree we need to keep two Safeties back but mix up the blitz scheme. A talented cover corner would help and a motivated Edge rusher would be ideal.

that sums it up why I want him gone. I can also see a bunch of players just cruising and lacking effort in his defense.
