Re: Rams Sign Another Kicker
Big boy. Looks like he and Ethan Evans could be back up linebackers. Interesting that Karty hit his 61-yarder 2 years ago as well. This Karty kick looks very different than his recent kicks:

Re: Rams Sign Another Kicker
Kicking is confidence IMO. Karty has lacked that a lot in his Pro career. We have seen it a lot in the NFL over the years. You missed a few and it mentally starts to wear on some of these kickers. Unfortunately a lot of times they don’t get it back until they get a change in employer. And that is not IMO a reflection on past employer…………..brasilrams wrote: ↑November 5th, 2025, 11:53 amThis kid regressing like this .....what is the explanation for this ? His eating habits. Same thing with heavier gymnastics ladies. Nevermind the obvious elite talent, fat, you're out trumps everything. It's slowly changing in gymnastics.

How much beer does he drink? What ever the Rams do don't let Bennett share a room with this dude. Is he a kicker or an offensive lineman?

Re: Rams Sign Another Kicker
I will agree with the confidence issue. BUT do you think Chase has been doing a good job overall ? Sometimes not letting the player LOSE confidence is actually part of the coach's job.NorCal RF wrote: ↑November 5th, 2025, 12:04 pmKicking is confidence IMO. Re: Rams Sign Another Kicker
Not sticking up for Chase but explain HOW a coach can prevent a player from losing his confidence, bro. That's totally on the player's mentality and his own execution. Are you suggesting the coach can actually think for him and force him to execute?brasilrams wrote: ↑November 5th, 2025, 2:42 pmI will agree with the confidence issue. I’m coach protective because of my background coaching for years at the highest HS level. I would almost guarantee the guy knows more about ST than the rest of us will ever know. I would also bet he works his ass off daily. But hey results are results and they are not there. At his level they have to be there soon, like now, or yes you have to make a change because this has been bad.
Karty has been bad. I ask why now is he kicking into the EZ and giving it to them on the 35. His squib kick offs earlier this year were working to perfection. Why change. My bet is again his confidence is so bleeped up, as well as his mechanics, that someone is somehow relating his bad FG attempts to the squib kicks. When you start doing that the kicker needs to sit for a while.
JMO but players play I hold them first n foremost responsible…….

Re: Rams Sign Another Kicker
Ok, I am starting to like this kid...
• He set the SEC record for the longest field goal in conference history
Mevis has a powerful leg, which is to be expected for a kicker who's 6 feet tall and 241 pounds. He showed off that power at Missouri where he set the SEC record for the longest field goal in conference history. He made a 61-yard game-winner against 15th-ranked Kansas State in 2023, giving the Tigers a dramatic walk-off victory.
• He holds the Missouri record for the most 50-yard field goals made
Mevis wasn't always the most accurate kicker at Missouri, but he was good from distance. In his career, he made 12 field goals of at least 50 yards, which set a school record. His longest was 61 yards in 2023, but he also made two 56-yarders during his time with the Tigers.
• He was nearly perfect in the UFL last season
After getting cut by the Panthers in 2024, Mevis landed in the UFL with the Birmingham Stallions. He was nearly perfect on field goal attempts, going 20-for-21. He won UFL Special Teams Player of the Week after making all three of his field goal tries in Week 7, including a 52-yarder.

You and Cierra were right. That dude has skills. However, it doesn't mean he won't have heart disease in his mid 50s.

Give him a shot this week, put some pressure on Karty to get his mojo back, or hand this guy the keys if he proves he can drive the truck

Re: Rams Sign Another Kicker
Some players need the coach to motivate them. The whole " I trust in you, you got this...etc etc " but imo. Chase is a bad coach not because karty regressed but because our special teams rank bottom 3 since he arrived in basically everything, so overall he doesn't deliver resultsRampager66 wrote: ↑November 5th, 2025, 2:56 pmNot sticking up for Chase but explain HOW a coach can prevent a player from losing his confidence, bro. I agree with everything, specially when you said chase needs to start delivering results now or he needs to go. Enough is enough. Our sts have been anything but special since he arrived.NorCal RF wrote: ↑November 5th, 2025, 3:01 pmNot sure but fine with your question.brasilrams wrote: ↑November 5th, 2025, 2:42 pm

Re: Rams Sign Another Kicker
I am not defending Karty but was it his fault that the line let defenders through on almost every kick that went bad.
Historically kickers get cut or benched due to them just missing the kick most don't have a defender coming up the middle where a kicker has to kick around him. Not sure how fair it is to Karty.
Can you say confidence is shot sure, but to me the culprit is Blackburn. Every kick Karty misses usually has a defender breaking through the line.
