Where do we go from here? Welp....
Worst part of waking up today, was realizing what really happened.... happened. We did it, to ourselves AGAIN.
I know I have been pretty much that homer in here. And for that, I apologize.
For thinking this team was better ... And the crazy part, I still think this. But for whatever reason, we keep getting in our own way.
This is the million dollar question... What will it take for us to stop destroying ourselves?
Everything in last ngts game has already been said, a least a few times... (so, sorry DVA, I wont beat another horse here)... but we have done this to ourselves ALL season. Every game we are the cardiac club. If we held just HALF the mental mistakes last ngt, we would have won by 14... same w the Eagles and Colts games... we had those two games (colts was a dogfight to be fair).
I mean just look at everything we have done to OURSELVES to lose these games OR make them closer than they should be. The breakdowns, the schemes, the mental errors and blocks. We all know what I am saying here. We ALL see it.
McVay can either tarnish his legacy here, or make it a come back for the ages. So, the question is... how can McVay/Shula not only rally the troops, but also fix themselves within.
To me, we have two coaches that keep getting in the way of themselves. The schemes, the play calls... I honestly cannot believe what I am watching lately. You almost have to wonder, what other coaches in the league can take a SB contending team, and destroy them within?
Seriously, this IS my question.
So, Sean and Chris, maybe just shut up and listen, go back to basics AND watch a lot of tape... a lot, but dont watch your players, watch what you guys do (and act like a 3rd party making an evaluation on yourselves).
Go back to what you both can be and have been. Why do the same schemes again when they didnt work the first time? Why not just change the D a bit at least? Why not establish a run (and by this, why not pull up a RB in on the practice squad that weighs 225 pounds and runs a 4.4 (maybe that guy would have made a 1st down last ngt w his weight)? Why did it take so long to show us Fergie? Why not implement the 'tush push'? and on and on...
I know in my heart we are a smart, competent and damn good football team.
Last question Sean, why does your buddy Shanny get in your head so much? Is your ego/pride clouding your judgment when facing Shanny and the niners? Because it sure seems like it.

Long season ahead, but right now... will Sean and Co tap into what this team really has or will they continue to stop it?

The team isn’t good in the secondary n in the kicking game. Secondary isn’t changing IMO. Kicking game I guess can with a new kicker but what is out there……..
This team is flawed like most in the league. Like it was last year. Just count wins needed to get in. I still say 7 more does it. Playoffs different season.
I will say for some reason Shula has gotten soft in the 4th. That has to change first and foremost because the secondary again is bad. Lake came on one play in the 4th last night n it worked……..
The big concern is if the niners can beat us with that roster than forget it when they get healthy……..

Rams’ Latest Self-Inflicted Mistakes Suggest They’re Pretenders, Not Contenders
https://www.si.com/nfl/rams-latest-self ... contenders
These Rams could still very well win the NFC West, but they’re far from Super Bowl contenders, not when they can’t execute something as simple as kicking the ball over the outstretched hands of defenders. McVay is sick right now, but maybe he’ll wake up inspired Friday morning and practice a thousand better plays than what he dialed up on fourth-and-1 with the game on the line.
While we’re talking about practice, the Rams need to hire Aaron Donald as a running backs coach so he can use his superhuman strength to practice punching the ball away from L.A.’s ballcarriers. If Williams and Corum can win punch-out drills vs. Donald, then they’ll have impeccable ball security in games. They can also shadow Nacua in practice to learn how to not drop passes.
Bottomline.... Rams can’t kick, they can’t secure the ball and now they lack creativity from their coach.

I do question going for it due to the fact we were playing the Niners. But I think it tells you he has zero confidence in the kicking game which is beyond unacceptable. this is 2 games now they have lost due to ST's.....the blocking on kicks is awful...DelMar wrote: ↑October 3rd, 2025, 11:04 am VERY good write up here...

Agreed OC. ... like a stud a full back or our own tush push? Why we sent a little guy to do a big mans job, was astounding to me.

Re: Where do we go from here? Welp....
Rams are a fringe playoff contender. People thinking they’re elite need a reality check. I thought they were better than this. They were 10-7 the last two years. Maybe the same this year. Might not get them in the playoffs. Either way they’ll be in the 4-7 range of playoff teams. Secondary is piss poor and they failed to do anything about it. Their run D is better because they attempted to improve that unit. IOL hasn’t improved. Not sure where Avila is. Kicking game has been an abomination. Running backs are average. Stafford has been very good last couple weeks and more receivers are getting involved.
They’re 3-2 so the season can go in any direction, but last night was a gift from the scheduling gods. They blew it. They blew a big lead in Philly. They beat 2 teams that are 1-7 and got lucky against Indy. 3-2 is prob what they are.
If rams are legit, go win next 3 games. They’re going to get a beat up Balt team, Jax who aren’t anything special in London and home against saints. 6-2 going into Niners rematch. They go 1-2 or something, they’re done.
Last night game was demoralizing on many different levels. Utter garbage that makes you reset expectations.

Re: Where do we go from here? Welp....
Do people really think we should have kicked a field goal to tie the game? No way. It's 4th and 1 in overtime with 5 minutes left where you played crap all night you need to go for it and win this game. Does anyone think ending the game in a tie would be better than going for it on 4th and 1? A tie sucks. Play to win. But call a better play, FFS.ocram23 wrote: ↑October 3rd, 2025, 11:09 am

I actually was debating in my head in taking the 3 points, mainly because Mac Jones was hurt badly on a few plays before... but then again, I absolutely did not think to give the ball the Williams to an off tackle play.... more like a large RB type of play.UtahRam wrote: ↑October 3rd, 2025, 11:39 amDo people really think we should have kicked a field goal to tie the game? We were a mess last night. My feeling was to just go for it. Get the first down and score a touchdown. If you can't make a yard you don't deserve to win.DelMar wrote: ↑October 3rd, 2025, 11:54 amI actually was debating in my head in taking the 3 points, mainly because Mac Jones was hurt badly on a few plays before... but then again, I absolutely did not think to give the ball the Williams to an off tackle play.... more like a large RB type of play.UtahRam wrote: ↑October 3rd, 2025, 11:39 am

Bench Kyren for a game to wake his ass up. Stop fucking fumbling. Run Corum the whole game, but definitely DON'T pitch to him or throw to him, period - dude has the worst hands I've ever seen on a RB. Put the entire starting O-line in on the FG unit, as a punishment and make them practice it for a whole fucking day or two over the next 10 days. Put Ferguson in the game, full stop.

Re: Where do we go from here? Welp....
I know a ton of us are somewhat tired of Sean's blabbing after games about how this and that should be this and that ... but I did however find his words just a bit ago here... a step in the right direction...
“It’s why I said what I did to you guys yesterday is because I feel a tremendous responsibility to do a good job of trying to put our players in positions to have successful outcomes,” he said. “When I don’t think I've done that or when I think I've can do better or we can do better, it chaps me to no end. I promise you this, I'm going to work my ass off to make sure that I continue to be better for this group. Those are the expectations that I know that everybody in our building will have. This is going to galvanize us. I promise you that.”

Re: Where do we go from here? Welp....
McVay ran nearly the same play on 4th and 1 against the Eagles that time behind Limmer. The result was the same both times. I can't imagine what McVay was thinking or what he was trying to prove. 4th quarter and kicking failures aside why the fuck did this team come out so flat and uninspired. They were on their heels at the gate; they were getting gashed by a team missing multiple key players. Bottom line the team and the coaches did not deserve to win this game and if the 9ers were full strength the game would have been over at the half.ocram23 wrote: ↑October 3rd, 2025, 11:09 amI do question going for it due to the fact we were playing the Niners. Re: Where do we go from here? Welp....
This was my feeling as well.
But my question is - WHY DID WE DEFER ON THE OT KICKOFF???? I thought this was pretty stupid.
And I also thought we should go for it on 4th and 1 on our own 40 late in the game. I figured if we punted, the 9ers would march down the field and run the clock down before scoring. I didn't think we'd punt it down to their 2 yard line, but still.

Norcal is right. Before we all jump off the wagon, we have no idea where the Rams are going. It would not surprise me if they won the division or came in last place in the division. It is typical Rams. Taking every game down to the last play! It is extremely hard on the ticker.NorCal RF wrote: ↑October 3rd, 2025, 11:06 amAnd the same was said last year when we were 1-4 and the year before whatever we were……….DelMar wrote: ↑October 3rd, 2025, 11:04 am VERY good write up here...

This better just not be yak. The players have got to take care of businessesDelMar wrote: ↑October 3rd, 2025, 12:46 pm I know a ton of us are somewhat tired of Sean's blabbing after games about how this and that should be this and that ... but I did however find his words just a bit ago here... a step in the right direction...

One positive out of the game - Stafford spread the ball around - Tutu making long catches, Whittington - even a Ferguson sighting....and another might be the dropped passes + fumbles from Corum + Williams could convince McVay to work Hunter into the RB rotation....

KW has definitely put the rock on the ground more than he should....but on that play, it looked as though he had the ball tucked pretty darn good and that fumble was more of an excellent play by the defender and not so much as a careless play by KWrammingspeed wrote: ↑October 3rd, 2025, 12:02 pm Bench Kyren for a game to wake his ass up.

One thing I remember when playing and in 4th and inches or goal lines stances, is coaches could not emphasize more of holding the ball w two arms so tightly, you couldn’t slip a greased BB out of it.sanbagger wrote: ↑October 4th, 2025, 3:42 amKW has definitely put the rock on the ground more than he should....but on that play, it looked as though he had the ball tucked pretty darn good and that fumble was more of an excellent play by the defender and not so much as a careless play by KWrammingspeed wrote: ↑October 3rd, 2025, 12:02 pm Bench Kyren for a game to wake his ass up. If you look at the play again… he puts his left arm out to soften his landing as he knew he was going down. Also Should have never left his right arm out like that while holding the ball (not protecting). You keep it tucked w both arms till you hear the whistle.
Just my opinion here
