When is McVay held accountable ?
Time to objectively look at the HC and his inability to adjust & address his weaknesses- McVay is inefficient in the red zone and cannot find the answers. His down and distance decision making is flawed . His drafting of Personnel and their use in his game plans remain inexplicable. No HC is perfect but these issues have been evident for several seasons now and he is incapable of improving or correcting them. Aware it is sacrilegious to many here to criticize him but he is costing the Rams games ( SB gravitas aside). The loss today was unprecedented- and it goes directly to McVay. His play calling and his DEFENSIVE coaching staff second half calls were horrific. This loss was epic and I have been a fan since 1967 . It is time for the HC to do a bit of soul searching & addressing his own failures and plan a way to improve his continuing weaknesses just as he would expect to see from his players.

Re: When is McVay held accountable ?
Referring to HC being accountable for his performance - Post game comments are the same coach speak dribble that apparently leads to not addressing some key coaching issues. McVay has real holes in his coaching game and a SB victory is not a permanent free pass . Aware of the fans take on several of these issues - this is about personal inventory on his part .

^ THIS
Think there is more than 4…
There is no defending any Rams coach from today’s showing. Even if we has won this game (and made the FG), ALL the Rams coaches crapped the bed and let this damn good team down.

The McVay topic is too bi-polar. He is what he is....
Great coach!!! Elite.
Really good offensive mind!
Good play caller! But overrated here in my opinion.
Excellent guy at hiring coaches and building a culture.
He's a top 3 coach with some flaws. Like the rest of coaches.

Re: When is McVay held accountable ?
I don’t know how we draft gadget guys and never use them. Rams don’t have enough in their roster to waste picks. We drafted a 4th string TE (yes, he’s 4th on depth chart) and a 3rd string RB in the 4th round. We have two solid backs ahead of Hunter. Also, find and develop a dual threat QB. Had enough of frozen pizza QBs

What Cornell n DM said……..
McVay is apart of the entire team that it appears everyone is holding accountable with this loss……..
He is responsible today, Shula is, ST is, offense is, Defense is, n ST is. Anyone saying anything different don’t have time for……..

I agree and im nuclear on this game but you might have gone a bit too far.
I still have faith in Sean but hes gotta stop giving games away. Too many over the past 4 seasons

Re: When is McVay held accountable ?
I think the general point is, who is capable of holding McVay accountable and what can they do about it if they are unhappy with him.
The reality is McVay has won a Super Bowl, he's probably been the best overall coach the rams have ever had, I mean, going way back, George Allen had a couple of good teams. He had a couple of bad teams. Chuck knox won the division every year and then got jammed up in the playoffs.Dick Vermeil had two years of futility until he won the Super Bowl. Mike Martz went to a Super Bowl, had a few good seasons, but his role in bad personnel choices did him in as a talent degraded in the NFL caught up with his offense.
McVay has been the whole package, he just sucks in the red zone, he does, without Todd Gurley
To compound problems more we don't really have that super explosive receiver or super explosive running back who goes all the way, we always find ourselves meandering around the 9 yard line

Well put - your chronology makes sense of a lot of it - here’s to finding a way to shore up the real weak spots as this team has many elements in place -and - I sense it will be with a “new” QB within the next 2 years.

Re: When is McVay held accountable ?
I don’t think McVay is an elite coach. I think he’s above average. With that said, I won’t blame him for the loss yesterday bc it was a winning effort against a very good team.
I get far more down on the staff when I see mediocre football (win or lose). Yesterday’s game was a step forward that showed the Rams to be on the Eagles level. If they bring that effort the rest of the season my win projections move from 9/10 wins to 12+.
I think the only play call I didn’t like was the 3rd and 1 bomb attempt. Then they run it on 4th and don’t get it. I’m fine with the run on 4th and going for it by I’d have run it on 3rd too. When you have lead just grind out 1st downs no need to for higher risk higher failure plays

Well he was one blocked field goal away from beating the SB champions at their home. Yes it was disappointing but we need perspective here.

Re: When is McVay held accountable ?
We lost the game because of bad blocking assignments in the STs period we would not be talking about McVay hardly if we won. McVay did not screw STs up Chase Blackburn did that was unexcusable. i heard acstatclast year there were actotal of 19 kicks blocked icthought there would be more we had 2 in one game yesterday.
I blamed McVay yesterday as partly to blame bc of his questionable playcalling in critical 3rd down situations. But Stafford had a bunch of inaccurate throws, Shelton had a huge penalty wiping out 4 addl points, Shula should have doubled Brown, the list goes on and on. Like i keep saying this was a huge aberational game a wild outlier. Soneone said when Rams leading by 19 or more we are 109-1 enough said.
