What a pathetic signing!

Post by Rams fan since 1973 »

This 34 year old Viking reject Quessenberry is going to back up our offensive line, lol? McVay’s buddy must have recommended him? Worst credentials of any possible offensive lineman out there!

Strictly an emergency backup. Verse destroyed him when the Rams played the Vikings last year.

They can’t find a better training camp body than this guy? Are they trying to build confidence in the players going against him?

Well, Verse destroyed most everyone last year.. but that being said... this guy maybe hungry to be better. If he stinks in camp, we cut him.

Not knowing his deal w us, and just guessing here... but Vikings had him at $1.8M cap hit last year, so if this was basically a trade off for shipping out NoteDoom @ $10M and this guy is at $1.5M... its a win win for the Rams. $8.5 less for the same back up type player.

Let's see how he does in camp. May not even make the team. But is this guy the definition of a journeyman or what...

Did you see he's from Carlsbad? La Costa High School where some of my friends kid's went.

I am very underwhelmed with this signing. We are stacked at every position and back up Tackle is very important and to me he is not the answer. Feels like a poor man's Noteboom and that isn't saying much in terms of value.

I am slightly concerned. Word is. Havenstein had not one but two “procedures” in his shoulder during his offseason.
He has not been participating in OTA’s

I think this is a good comment even though again not a fan of PFF:

“PFF has Quessenberry rated at 54.8 for his pass blocking last season.
Noteboom was rated 46.9
AJ Arcuri was rated at only 1.9”

“So definitely an upgrade there, although the bar wasn't exactly very high.”

Teams see players differently. My bet is Rams OL coach thinks he can be a useful backup and they can get more out of him.

You are not going to get an all pro back-up OL right now contrary to what Vince Lombardi JR. may think.

Niners flag just today said after returning from OTA’s that the Niners back-up OL is a real concern. And today I guess only strengthen that concern. Defines most NFL teams.

which is why they should have used their 1st pick on an OT in the draft.

Terrance Ferguson is about to be a BEAST in this Offense for us. And you want to use the pick on "an OT?' Who you got in mind? Give a name on who was available, and let's see how his career pans out compared to Ferguson....
Ersery-Minnesota OT
Helm- TE Texas....who wasn't drafted until the 4th round yet had a very similar grade
FYI....line of scrimmage wins football games not flash

73 is right, dude is not good

had a 12% pressure rate last year, to give you an idea that's about 300% higher than Havenstein's or AJ

you just gotta find decent dudes. They are out there. I don't know. WTF goes on with these guys in swing tackles But they're not good at it at all in fact, they suck at it.

well, who knows brooklyn, if we found a stud offensive tackle in the second round I don't think anyone would complain, with that being said, I always like to get crafty veterans a swing tackles because they know how to do it, and there is proof of concept in their film, it's stupid to put a rookie in a swing tackle, let alone a undrafted, free agent, the Rams need to find a good veteran. They are out there. I don't know WTF.

“ They are out there.”

So who? With what hasn’t been signed yet who would be that great of an upgrade? I’m not saying there isn’t one or two but when you filter in cost as well as again how much of an upgrade would it be when you include cost for a back up which is what he is…..…….

Again who?

This scenario was there and JMO I would have been good with it.

We both know it comes down to preference. And it’s way way too early to say if the route they went was correct or not…………

We did grab an UDFA from Indiana...maybe he will pan out. But he's not a LT, he's on RT side. I'm pretty concerned with AJ...seems to have no replacement atm.

We all agree with you but it is a strong backup that can start and not give up 16 pressures in 7 games as he did last season. Jimmy G I don't worry about, same with Limmer, Corum etc Quesenberry I worry about. We have a statue QB he needs time and the least amount of pressure possible this was a wasted $ signing.

Regardless of talent? Does a player get better just because he's selected higher?

I like the fact that they selected a guy who the feel is going to be an impact starter for years.

I don't know much about Quesenberry but I know a lot about McSneed and I fully trust their evaluation... It wouldn't be the first time they brought in a down and out player and resurrected their career. Not saying that he will be a rock star but clearly they see something in him as a potential back-up option.

Snead and McVay have done a great job overall they get a lot of latitude for sure. There has to be better options out there. Or wait until preseason is over etc

From the standpoint of finding a new whipping boy for this forum (filling the Noteboom void), this seems to be a good signing.
