Weddle looks great and I'm shocked
Damn mean tackler and seems to have helped with confused secondary-I'll admit when I'm wrong lol
Could he be completely healthy and faster/stronger now??

The old dude is flying around the field and laying the wood. He is visualizing that ring on his finger.

yes but we got very lucky the other day with that 15 yrd penalty and the NFL rule re: that play. it could have been a huge penalty resulting in a TD or FG. but yes he has been a surprise

Re: Weddle looks great and I'm shocked
My concern with Weddle is what took place on the penalty he was flagged for. He has been out for quite some time and is still use to “laying the wood” that doesn’t fly in today’s NFL. Granted a few years ago that’s not a penalty, and IMO it shouldn’t be a penalty, but it’s hard to just change for a player like him and tell oneself to lay up at that split second whenyou have to within today’s rules……….
There was a few other occasions last Sunday where he came close to getting flagged for a late hit on a receiver………

that was a penalty come on. we got very lucky it didn't cost us 7 pts. the rule makes zero sense.NorCal RF wrote: ↑January 26th, 2022, 8:27 am My concern with Weddle is what took place on the penalty he was flagged for. It was a penalty in todays game but wasn’t not too many years ago. And it still should not be IMO………..ocram23 wrote: ↑January 26th, 2022, 8:29 amthat was a penalty come on. we got very lucky it didn't cost us 7 pts. the rule makes zero sense.NorCal RF wrote: ↑January 26th, 2022, 8:27 am My concern with Weddle is what took place on the penalty he was flagged for. Re: Weddle looks great and I'm shocked
It was a penalty just not a PI penalty and the ruling was correct late hit because the play was technically dead as the ball reached the ground incomplete before the Weddle hit so the ruling was the play was dead (incomplete) and Weddle hit him after the play was over this late hit.ocram23 wrote: ↑January 26th, 2022, 8:29 amthat was a penalty come on. we got very lucky it didn't cost us 7 pts. the rule makes zero sense.NorCal RF wrote: ↑January 26th, 2022, 8:27 am My concern with Weddle is what took place on the penalty he was flagged for. Re: Weddle looks great and I'm shocked
If Weddle had hit him one second earlier and that was ruled a pre Rams possession PI call - I probably wouldn't have written this post lol
However I highly doubt that type of scenario plays out again this week and I'm impressed by Weddle's contribution so far.....

To your point, for a 37 year old man, 2 years removed from his last game to not be out of place in an elite, professional sports environment is nothing short of miraculousRammo wrote: ↑January 26th, 2022, 10:49 am If Weddle had hit him one second earlier and that was ruled a pre Rams possession PI call - I probably wouldn't have written this post lol

Re: Weddle looks great and I'm shocked
So true-I really expected either very few actual on the field plays for Weddle or for him to be targeted to our detriment. He has looked completely ready for prime time so far! I also believe he will get more comfortable/in shape each week.Yorkshire Ram wrote: ↑January 26th, 2022, 10:54 amTo your point, for a 37 year old man, 2 years removed from his last game to not be out of place in an elite, professional sports environment is nothing short of miraculousRammo wrote: ↑January 26th, 2022, 10:49 am If Weddle had hit him one second earlier and that was ruled a pre Rams possession PI call - I probably wouldn't have written this post lol

Re: Weddle looks great and I'm shocked
Me too. I thought he was coming in purely to organise a young, out of sorts secondary on the practice field if I'm honest. The fact he played about 65% of snaps in the divisional round is incredible.Rammo wrote: ↑January 26th, 2022, 10:57 amSo true-I really expected either very few actual on the field plays for Weddle or for him to be targeted to our detriment. He was jumping all over everyone when they were interviewing on the field after the game… he’s a nut!

That penalty, particularly from a veteran, was surprising. Obvioulsy, I'm not actually involved in the "speed" of the game, but it certainly looked like he could have stopped prior to the hit as the situation was right in front of him & he was a few steps away.

Re: Weddle looks great and I'm shocked
He was fired up and trying to knock the ball out so I'll forgive it-just don't do it again Weddle! We can't give SF any freebies-fumbles, INT's, bad mental mistakes-bad snaps-special teams gaffes, pick sixes. We can beat these guys by 10 plus points if we don't give em points. We play a smart, clean game and we will advance to the SB at home....
