Cam Akers: 24 carries for 48 yards, 2 fumbles lost
How this guy got this much playing time playing that poorly is inexcusable.
2 yards a carry.
2 fumbles
And you got Sony Michel,
Ridiculous.
He better not touch the ball against the 49ers. Needs to be all Sony

I think some Michel would be wise. It's a lot to ask Akers to carry that big a load when he hasn't played this season. Let Michel take some of the load. I think McVay will adjust.

Re: Cam Akers: 24 carries for 48 yards, 2 fumbles lost
He's the Rams main man and they were right to go back to him after that killer drop at the goal line.
I think he knew the importance of getting a 1st down on the ground at the end and tried a little too much.....and really, had he not fumbled he had the Rams in great position to get the 1st if he deidn't already have it.
Cam is a young player and will learn from this...thread not really warranted IMO

He will be just fine. He is barely in football shape. I would have had Sony in there a little more, especially when trying to run the clock. He will be sleeping with a football tonight.

Sony is good, but Cam is the present and future. More likely Sony will get more carries next week. Mcvay did ride Sony hard down the stretch and Cam has the fresh legs.
Let's not forget Tampa is top against the run. They took a running team like the eagles who have one of the best run blocking ol in football and shut them down.

I would go easy on Akers, he was up against a stout run defense in TB after miraculously returning really early from a serious injury. I expect him and Sony to share running duties next week, lessen his workload.

But that’s the thing. If you aren’t in football shape, and are averaging 2 yards a carry, you shouldn’t be playing. Even disregarding the fumbles.
I feel like McVay doesn’t use Sony Michel near enough. Early in the year Henderson got most of the carries even tho Michel was better, and now Akers is

Reflecting back... if I'm Sony Michel I'm pissed. His replacement had two major fumbles today. Rushing game wasn't there. Maybe a bigger seasoned Michel makes a difference. But WTF... Michel been $$$ and to kick him to the curb ? Makes no sense.

I too would like to see more Sony Michel. We must get our ground game going. Otherwise we live and die by the pass.

Re: Cam Akers: 24 carries for 48 yards, 2 fumbles lost
Sony knew the deal when he signed to be a Ram...Cam is the man and he's a role player
Cam made a couple mistakes today...he's still the main man and should be when they face the Niners next week
If he's he's "pissed" well....he is a professional and there's no crying in baseball...err....football

Sony got us here, Sony should be getting half the carries. Rams should be using a 2 headed monster.

Re: Cam Akers: 24 carries for 48 yards, 2 fumbles lost
Why?....The Rams cannot overpower the Niners D front and Sony doesn't have the speed to beet them to the outside....Cam does.Claremontram wrote: ↑January 23rd, 2022, 4:44 pm I too would like to see more Sony Michel. We must get our ground game going. Otherwise we live and die by the pass.
Cam is also a better receiver than Sony which adds an element they will have to account for.
CJ was a better back than Sony....I know Sony can move some piles but Cam can as well with more shiftiness and breakaway speed.
IMO....it's not even close who is the better back....especially considering the match-up....they must beat them with speed as the Niner have proven the Rams can't out muscle them

yes , the run game was tough in this game, bucs are legit against run..agreed, think we should have mixed in both backs better , but cam needed some game time carries and will continue to get in game shape toughness, hope he stays confident and doesn't press...Cornell29 wrote: ↑January 23rd, 2022, 4:20 pm Sony is good, but Cam is the present and future. IMO Sony is still your goal line back and bottom line he should have been more involved. we would be having a very different discussion today about McVay if it went the other way.Cornell29 wrote: ↑January 23rd, 2022, 4:20 pm Sony is good, but Cam is the present and future. This 100% true.. No reason not to have Michel run the ball inside the 5 . He should have carried the ball at end of 1st half.ocram23 wrote: ↑January 24th, 2022, 9:21 amIMO Sony is still your goal line back and bottom line he should have been more involved. we would be having a very different discussion today about McVay if it went the other way.Cornell29 wrote: ↑January 23rd, 2022, 4:20 pm Sony is good, but Cam is the present and future. I'd like to see Sony a little bit more but Cam is the starter and far more dangerous in the passing game. No reason not to play Sony more than McVay did however-goal line-mix him in and such. Neither guy was going to get much running room against TB but we can run on SF and using Cam as a safety valve for Stafford worked well against TB.

All those guys here that crapped on Henderson...smh And I'm not down on Akers. I think he'll bounce back.
The first. The original. The only UtahRam.

The BUCS are a tough Run D same with the 49ers. It will be tough no matter who runs against the BUCS or 9ers.

Re: Cam Akers: 24 carries for 48 yards, 2 fumbles lost
Akers is a very good RB. I thought his first fumble was just a very good play by the LB while the 2nd was poor ball security (as was Kupp’s).
That being said, there’s no excuse for McVay giving him 24 carries as opposed to only one for Michel, who basically split the load against the Cards and had more yards/carry in that game, especially since Cam wasn’t exactly reeling off big gains yesterday.
We’re going to need the one-two punch vs Frisco.
