Sporting News. Bill Bender

Post by piddy »

Who is this so-called pencil neck football expert who has the Rams losing to Baltimore because Lamar Jackson may be playing Sunday. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/new ... a0v3ynmer4 He obviously has not done his homework on where the Ravens are with injuries and the covid reserve list
My take is as follows:

Covid:
LB Justin Houston
RB Nate McCrary
TE Josh Oliver
OLB Justin Houston
DL Justin Madubuike
S Tony Jefferson
OLB Tyus Bowser
DB Ar’Darius Washington

Injuries:
LB L. Bowser OUT
S. A. Washington OUT
QB L. Jackson ?
G. T. Phillips ?
G. B. Bower. ?
FB. P. Richard ?
WR. D. Duveny ?
QB T. Hundley OUT
RB J. HIll. OUT
CB A. Averett. ?

His picks suck. Not only the Ravens game but he has Arizona beating up the Cowboys.

Perhaps he's based in Phoenix... ;)

Don’t have to agree but he has a right to an opinion also………….

Well we have the opportunity to prove we can stop a heavy rushing attack, we better not get behind early. McVay needs to go heavy and pound the rock

They are one of the better defenses against the run 75……..

They are dead last defensively in pass defense…….

Their secondary personal wise is a mess with injuries n COVID…….

The issue is that you didn't read his rationale. He was solely focused on one guy returning from IR to the rescue of the team and he not address the balance of the Ravens injury/covid problems. His opinion was based on the reading tea leaves or his fortune telling Tarot Cards.

Jamison Hensley of ESPN shared a video of Jackson practicing on Wednesday and he was limping considerably. He had trouble even jogging, looking like a player who’s in a lot of pain and not very mobile.

I guess Bender was on a Bender and missed this

Anybody who’s watched the Rams this year knows they are capable of dumping this game.

Hopefully McVay has them ready.

Lol you're talking about a covid list mattering when it didn't even effect Rams?
It's probably better to have players out. Better chance of winning , as season has shown.

That would be playing into Baltimore's strength. They're good against the run, and they like to run. They fabrication the pass. Baltimore WANTS a grind it out, under 24 point football game. If ever MsG at was going to go pass happy, this is the week. How Burrow out up the third highest passing game EVER last Sunday against Baltimore. Get up on Baltimore, and keep the pedal to the floor. Take they're strength (running game) away, and force Jackson to play from behind. This week is the week for OBJ to have his biggest game as a Ram.

He was limping somewhat.
OTOH I remember watching Jack Kemp, Frank Ryan, Namath and Unitas towards the end of their careers. Now those were limps.

Of course, Joe Namath did his most pronounced limping in a Rams uniform, something it took head coach Chuck Knox a month of the regular season to notice back in 1977... ;)

Joe Willie was well past his prime by then. But I think he was overrated even in his prime. His Jets won SBIII over a Colts team that basically packed it in after winning the NFL championship. He was a publicity machine in the big market and he had a couple of really good, not great years. He was closer IMO to John Hadl than Johnny U. Not Canton material based solely on his production on the field.

Looking at that video, if he's not faking that, then he's nowhere near ready to go Sunday.
I don't think a gimpy Jackson gives them the best chance of beating us.

I'm sure Jackson will start and play because the Ravens have there back against the wall. If they lose this game, they are done for any playoff hopes. I honestly don't think Jackson is going to be effective at all. His passing is awful when his ankle isn't bad, so it will be even worse on Sunday. The Rams should definitely take a page out of the Bengals plan last week and throw the ball down field. The Bengals offense is basically the same as ours which mean Stafford and company should have a field day.
