Thank You Jimmy G!!

Post by ocram23 »

One of the worst games I have seen a QB play. It was very Goff esque, if that is a word. He should have had at least 4 INT's. He over threw multiple wide open players throughout the night.

Now you know why they made such a huge investment in Lance.

Thank you Jimmy!!!!

I think Jimmy G is a bit under-rated...but I've been hearing that he's PFF 2nd BEST QB. Um, yeah, I'm not having it. He throws about 2 INT's every game, doesn't rack up huge yardage...I don't know what they base their ratings on.
Good to see 49ers lose!

250 yards per game is low yardage?
Well most of his success has been short throws with lots of YAC. Deebo and Kittle doing all the work. Everything Jimmy throws downfield is a prayer. He’s good at executing their offense when they have their run game going and Kyle schemes up wide open throws ( the big miss to Juice last night) but everything else is usually a jump ball with multiple high throws over the middle. He had two picks last night officially but barely escaped three more. He’s a product of a good system with great run after catch receivers .The Niners know that. That’s why they sold the farm for Lance. Question is why isn’t Lance playing?

I agree with all that Raminec. It just annoys me when people here make him out to be a massive stiff while he beats us every time.
Because the Rams style of D plays into Jimmy G's strengths. JG is content to throw 5-8 yds over the middle all game

Garoppolo yep average QB who along with a niner secondary cost them a game last night. Who isn’t happy about this. That being said……….

Has nothing to do with Rams ability to make him what he is……… average.

Tennessee contained a physical niner running attack. Had an answer for Kittle. Didn’t let Samual have big runs when he was used as a runner. Let’s not confuse what Tennessee did last night, especially in the second half, as a blueprint for the Rams to beat SF. We don’t get to borrow Tennessee’s ILB or their personal who shut down Kittle………

Yup its about players, scheme and matchups

That's why Seattle own the Niners, Rams own Seattle and Arizona, and Niners own the Rams.

What happened to Julio Jones? He is such a non factor in most games. Glad the rams didn't trade for him.

True but………..

The thread basically was started because he played poorly last night and reverted back to who he is. Fine. But for some of us how he plays against anyone other than the Rams well means nothing.

Yes niners have physically dominated the Rams recently but he still in his last two starts against the Rams has stats of 38/52 - 450 yards - 5 TD’s - 0 INT…………

I’d say he has been apart of that domination and certainly has been better then just a good QB against us……

Jimmy Garoppolo also was the 49ers' starting QB two years ago, when they reached the Super Bowl. He may not have been an All-Pro performer for them, however he clearly was significantly above average.

I seem to recall the guy outplaying Aaron Rodgers in the 2019 season NFC championship game, although admittedly Rodgers has tended to be outplayed during the postseason over the past decade.

Garoppolo is 5-0 vs. our team, so he must be doing something right... ;) :( :?

Confidence plays a huge role, and JG and the rest of the niners confidence is sky high when the niners play the rams.
He and the team remembers the recent success and they feel no matter what happens they can beat the rams.

Rams feel the same way about Seattle and the Cards.

On the other side, when things start looking bad for the rams, more likely the players, similar to the fans, say "oh know not again"

The rams aren't going to switch things from a confidence stand point until they string together some wins.

We seen it with Seattle, revenge game, last year and the cards, revenge game this year
Despite the loss to Seattle last year and the Cards this year, the rams players still play the game with a swag and confidence, feeling they are still the better team.

Sire hope so, but that's what I said 3 or 4 Niner losses ago...
I agree Brooklyn. Honestly, the Vikings game makes me nervous. I know we are much better than them but which Rams team shows up.? I’ll even go further and say which Rams offense shows up. Gotta put up more than 3 at half when not at home. Vikings as well as us have a lot on this game. Will worry about the Niners in week 18… maybe we will be resting our starters

Yep Agree……

Price is right Garoppolo would be welcome in Carolina, NYG, Houston, NO, Pittsburg, and probably a few other places………….

I would hope you're right, but history differs. The Rams against JG do not even play close games. JG , Schott, and the 9er defense absolutely own the Rams. Embarrassing. I wouldn't bet 25 bucks on the Rams if they were +10 in week 18.

Not true. 3 of the last 4 meetings were 1 score games...
In 2019 week 16, they lost 34-31 @ SF on a FG on the last play of the game after The Rams let the 9ers convert 3rd and 16 twice on the same drive including a 47 yard play to George Kittle (T Rapp) with less than 30 seconds left... the 1st time the 9ers had converted 3rd and 16 or better in over 50 attempts.... and they did it on consecutive attempts
Ditto the 2nd meeting last year... Rams were up 20-17 in the 4th Q and surrendered consecutive FG scoring drives including the game winner, again on the last play of the game..
And you're including week 17 in 2017, JG and the 9ers dismantled Sean Mannion and a roster full of back-ups because the Rams sat everyone that mattered...

You are right about the Defense though. The 9ers have our number because their D can get off the field, when it counts and the Rams could not...

Didnt you leave out BOTH games played in San Francisco in 2020 and 2021, in which the Niners killed us, and Jimmy G was efficient as can be?
The 2020 match up ended when the Rams let the 9ers convert a 3rd and 7 on their own 38 and they ran out the clock for a 24-16 win... a 1 score win...
How was that not a close game. 9ers pretty much lead thru out but the Rams stayed in the game til the end

08ny made it sound like it was all 5 of JG wins and that is not true.

Only this years first meeting and the 1st meeting in 2019 played out as he described...
And the Rams curb stomped the 9ers the 3 meetings prior to that scoring 48, 41 and 39 points.
Only 2 of the last 10 meetings would he lose taking the Rams and the 10 points... not 5 in a row as he lets on...

Why some on here refuse to give him credit is beyond me. Did those TWO 3rd and 16's convert THEMSELVES??? No, JG completed THEM. Yet many here have excuses why we lose to them BESIDES the Quarterback. Jimmy has many "stinkers," but I've yet to see one against US. Otherwise, Garoppolo sits firmly in the middle-of-the-pack range of Quarterback, league-wide. Not the absolute stiff some Hysterics here would have us think.
No you don't get to butt in and move the goalpost and insert YOUR facts.

I responded to the BS that the 9ers have routed the Rams every time JG was their QB against them. And that's not so.
The Rams lead in the 4th quarter of 2 of those games...
JG's record against the Rams is a direct result of garbage resistance put up by the Rams Defense... period

Titans showed you what JG really is if your DC does his job against him instead of implementing a surrender game plan akin to waiting for them to fail to execute.

Fact is Rams could have and maybe shoulda won 3 of those meetings, if they would have played D.... especially at the end of those games.. when it counted, like the 9ers did.

I've said this for years, take away those 2 yard passes that Garrappolo throw 99% of the time and he's done. He can't throw down field!! It's amazing to me that ALL teams don't do like the Titans did and take away those 2 yard screen passes and those 2 yard crossing routes. Take those passes away from Garrappolo and that offense is done and they lose any game big time.

I hope Raheem Morris has been paying attention!!

Jimmy Garoppolo is 4-0 against the Rams as the Starting Quarterback. (I'm not counting the Final Game of 2017 when the Rams played all backups. He's 5-0)

You state that the Rams LED in the 4th Quarter in TWO of those games, hence the series against JG isnt as lopsided as it seems.

I think you better check your facts, "fact-man," the Rams only led in the 4th in ONE of his starts. Otherwise, he won comfortably. Calm down, smoke a joint, and check your facts before posting hysterically, Rampager pal.
I'm not disputing he's 5-0, I'm disputing the nonsense that JG has led them to 5 straight blow outs over the Rams.
And no I did not insist the Rams leading in 2 games was my only point... although 1 game is enough...
You have decided to pick apart that one thing and try and put words in my mouth. Typical

I'm just going off my head like I usually do and after checking, you are correct, he did not start the 2nd meeting, a game the Rams led 20-17 in the 4th Q.
Our NO.1 rated Defense let Nick Mullins drive twice for FG's in the 4th Q including the game winner on the last play. Proves my main point all along about the 2 defenses...

Yes the Rams Defense is the main culprit. But you cant blame Jimmy for that. I think we agree mostly about things, but until we, the Rams, get off the schneid against this guy, I, just me personally, will never say a bad word about him. I dont think he's great, I think he's solid. 11-16 range of Quarterbacks. And Ram fans in particular ragging about this guy (not saying you) who takes us to the woodshed EVERY time, I find to be in extremely poor taste.
One just needs to look at the 9ers 32-15 record in games he starts to know he's no slouch. And I agree, we need to send a message to them with him in there... next time out. I don't care what's at stake. I only say that because the Rams may not have anything to play for by week 18 and it looks like SF's season could depend on that game...
It'll suck if we gift them another win and a playoff spot playing our back ups...
