Young Commenting on Stafford tonight……

Just found it interesting what he said on drive home tonight:

First of all really high praise for Stafford. SY really likes him. When asked about Stafford’s recent INT’s he said…….

“I guarantee you Sean McVay had the same conversation with Matt as Mike Shanahan had with me. And that conversation is I’m not going to protect you but you are going to protect me. Why? Because you are that good of a QB. I’m not going to hold back or scale down my offense but instead continue to add to it”. He continued saying…

“It’s up to you Matt, McVay speaking, to execute my offense”. He said when Shanahan said this to him it was the highest compliment. He went on to say…….

“It’s a given Matt is good. Very good. The question is will he be great over the next month. He is that talented to be great. And great is what he will need to be for the Rams to win it all. McVay’s offense is great, he said if you went back and watched this year Matt’s INT’s you would find most of the time, not every time, the McVay provided Matt a open receiver. Example being the pick deep to OBJ against Baltimore. Van Jefferson was wide open. It’s on Matt to see this and make the right decision with the football”.

He finished by saying “ I of course want the niners to win the SB, but I’m excited to see what Matt does over the next month. Again his skill is one of greatness and he is really smart. We will see if he can be great starting this Sunday. If he can over the next month then he will be holding the trophy when it’s over. If he can’t then Rams will fall short this season but I think he will hold that trophy at some point as Ram QB”………….

He was also asked about Kupp and how the bleep does he get open all the time. Young replied:

“He is as good of a route runner as their is in the league right now. And he is as good as it gets in getting into the DB and get that DB to lean or be off balance which creates the space needed to do what he is doing”. He also said………

“Also OBJ, Van Jefferson, and Higbee are good. Really good. That contributes to Kupp being open so often”.
