Jalen Milroe’s NFL Comparison: A Dual-Threat Dynamo with a Familiar Blueprint

Post by GlendoraRam »

Looking forward to the 2025 NFL draft, Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe stands out as one of the most polarizing and intriguing prospects in the class. His rare blend of elite athleticism, explosive running ability, and raw arm talent has drawn comparisons to several NFL quarterbacks, past and present. However, his inconsistencies as a passer and developmental needs make him a high-risk, high-reward prospect. To understand who Milroe compares to in the NFL today, we must dissect his skill set, evaluate his strengths and weaknesses, and align him with players who share similar profiles. Based on recent scouting reports, expert analyses, and performance metrics, the most apt comparisons for Milroe are Jalen Hurts, Justin Fields, and, to a lesser extent, Tyrod Taylor, with a nod to Lamar Jackson’s ceiling as an aspirational benchmark.

Do I see Milroe as a first round talent? No, I really don’t. As I mentioned in the article, he reminds me a bit of Lamar Jackson – but, much more like Justin Fields.

there is a team out there that loves him or he would not have been invited and accepted for thursday night. IMO somebody is going to take him round 1

Could it be the Rams? Sure. But absolutely right now defines teams putting out there the impression of having interest in a player when in reality they have none whatsoever. You have to have never watched a draft not to know this.

What I don’t get is some IMO are forgetting this has been said as not a good QB draft as far back as this time last year and that narrative hasn’t changed. Ask yourself where does Cam Ward go in lasts year’s draft? It is again right now another example of a league that is a QB desperate league that a week out is again over rating QB’s into the first round that are not first round talent. Fans too IMO……….

“I just met with the Rams,” Milroe said. “Great meeting with them. No matter what team it is, it is so important just to talk ball with them, get an understanding of how I view X’s and O’s and the process of it is big. The meeting went well. Every one of them, I leave out, and they leave out so impressed with me.”

Yes, this apparently is happening now, as it always seems to when the NFL draft draws near, notably during years in which the QB 'draft class' is purportedly weak... :? :o

he should be a RB

And I have no issues with them drafting a QB late in this draft to compete with Bennett for 3rd QB spot……..

If I’m not mistaken it was just a month or so ago those who follow this stuff nationally were saying some are questioning if Milroe will ever be an anything more than a long shot in the NFL. Now we have him going in the first round. SMH……….

I just feel that the Rams are always going to be all in moving forward, so unless a QB like Purdy magically appears somehow, the most likely successor to Stafford will come through a trade with another team.

For sure they will draft a QB from time to time to see if the magic is there but its a long shot...

And to be honest, I don't understand how any of these mid round picks are any better than Stetson i.e. likelihood is that they sit in 3rd string.

Word is, the Giants are looking at him ahead of the Rams. Would you trade up a few spots to grab him?
From the GiantsWire - their mock:
Round 2, Pick 34: Alabama QB Jalen Milroe
After Ward at No. 1 overall, Sanders slips all the way down to the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 21 overall. Jaxson Dart goes to the Cleveland Browns with the first pick in the second round, leaving the Giants to snatch up Jalen Milroe at No. 34 overall. It seems unlikely Milroe slips this far given that quarterbacks are often overdrafted, but in Brugler's scenario, the Giants get their developmental QB of the future.
