This. Who isn't. But my opinion I don't see a defensive coach becoming head coach of NY.

It doesn’t matter if Schula gets a head-coaching job and leaves the Rams. Sean McVay will just hire another idiot and force him to follow the same stupid defensive scheme he believes in — a passive, cowardly defense that doesn’t attack.

Every defensive coordinator who comes to the Rams is forced to run the defense this way. That’s how it was with Raheem Morris, and now it’s the same with Schula.

This type of defense the Rams play comes from the top. It comes from the head coach, not the defensive coordinator. McVay clearly doesn’t like hiring defensive coordinators and letting them run their own system. He wants someone who accepts that he’s the boss, that the scheme is his, and that the coordinator can only make minor tweaks.

That’s the way I’ve been reading the Rams lately. Back in the days of Wade Phillips and Brandon Staley, it felt like they actually had real control over the defense.

Now, no matter who the coordinator is, the defense always looks the same. Always. It’s a cowardly style of play. And it doesn’t work.

McVay may be a great offensive mind, but when it comes to defense, it’s pretty clear he doesn’t know a damn thing.

Eagles run the same defensive scheme. They have the artitect of the scheme Vic Fangio. The eagles have one of the best defenses in the NFL. It's not the scheme. It's the person running it. Eagles blitz, plus bump and run man coverage, zone, etc, they even put their safeties at the LOS. The difference Vic is one of the best DC in football. He knows what he is doing, Shula doesn't and Morris did when the playoffs came and Eric Weddle wore the green dot.
Shula looked like he did when Q played and wore the Green dot.

Rams need a good veteran DC, imo

Eagles have a much better skill set. They have Mitchell and dejean. We have Forbes and who knows what.

Agreed
Eagles have the architect of the Defense Mcvay likes, it's not the scheme, it's the players, but Shula is also being out coached. He can blitz and play more tight coverage in this defense, the eagles DC does it all the time, Shula just won't do it, bc he is worried about the backend. Imo I rather play cover 1 or cover 0 and send the house then play this off man coverage all the time.

Robert Salah was so good as a coordinator he got a HC gig when Niners were loaded. Now his defense one of worst in nfl. Let’s be rational.

Rams don’t have physicality in their secondary. Go look at Philly and Houston or Seattle. Guys want to hit and pop. Our guys play back and are all small and slow. It’s an organizational mindset.

It is more like poor roster construction , I don't believe the rams FO actually wants their secondary to be weak and slow , they just thought they were going to be " good enough " when it is clear : they are not . They thought forbes and durant could get the job done , they can't . They thought Chase Blackburn could get the job done , he couldn't . They thought the current depth at OT (AJ's backup)could get the job done , he couldn't . To me , it seems like poor assessment of talent and poor roster construction . Second round pick should have been the best CB available , not a TE . NExt pick should have been LT .

IMO he isn't going anywhere. Shula has only been a DC one year and still lacks experience. Would I be sad to see him leave? Not really. Early this season he looked like he was going to be a gem. But the way our D has played more recently, I wouldn't care. Now maybe it's some of the players that are injured. But SF has a ton of injuries and their defense still seems to play lights out every game. We can't keep using injuries as an excuse. We need to be prepared from the practice squad up.

The only way Shula will ever go is when an awfull and cheap team like the Jets, the Titans or the Cardinals hire him as their (5th or 6th choice) HC, exactly like Raheem in Atlanta (what a relief it was).

If McVay accepts to ruin an entire season because he cannot fire a mediocre ST coach until week 15, imagine how many chances he will give to his buddy Shula. Guy is there until 2030 at least.

Nobody will hire him, he's our DC next year, 100%

In my opinion, this guy is over-rated. Frankly, I think we can do better at the DC position. He's bland, soft defensive scheme when the game is on the line, nothing complex or organic. He basically runs Morris' old defensive scheme. Take a look at the last 3 losses we had - Panthers, Seahawks, and Falcons - when the Rams needed a stop he played zone. What I really think the Rams defense lacks is physicality - a willingness to lay the thump (see the 49ers defense), even with all the injuries Saleh's defense is physical, the Panthers defense is physical, the Seahawks defense is physical, etc.

Enough said.

Good riddance, hopefully we find a SEASONED guy with a proven track record, and a guy who brings an ATTITUDE to the defense.

If some miracle happens and Shula is hired as a HC, keep a eye on Cards (HC) and Eagles (DC 2 years ago) former coach Gannon, he is a Vic Fangio D disciple (who plays the D that Mcvay loves)

Whelp, looks like Vegas is on to something...

Shula is now favored to take over as Clevelands head coaching job. Apparently, he has interviewed for it (not sure how or when)

Here is to hoping....

Now, who shall we be looking at for his replacement?.

So Vegas and all the talking heads are off base?

He is gone.

He is favored by many teams to take over, it actually maybe what team he chooses to coach, as it sounds like a few have him at the top of their list.

We shall see, but imo... dude is gone

Could be gone especially if Rams make or win a Super Bowl.

Rams had the top scoring offense in NFL. I wouldn't be surprised
