Trent Williams almost a Ram
Wow what great OL the Rams would have had, 5 years ago
“[The Rams] asked me to play left guard because they had Andrew Whitworth. It was his [next-to-last] year and it would have been a tough conversation to have [with him]. … So I’m like, ‘I’m not playing left guard. Not right now.’ I could see it a couple of years at the end, but not [then]," Williams said. “So I kind of zeroed in on the 49ers and we made it work. [The Rams] came back and was like, ‘No, we’re going to let you play left tackle.’ Whitworth contacted me himself and said he’d love to play with me. But at that point, it was kind of a little too far — I’d already taken my mind off of them and I was doing whatever I could to get to San Francisco.”

How can you say Almost a Ram? He was never considering it. He clearly says that he wasn't going to move to guard and we already had a better left tackle at the time in Whitworth. He was NEVER Almost a Ram.

Later in the article, it says Whit called Trent and said he will move to RT, but by that time Trent said he already committed to the Niners.
If he didnt already commit, Rams could have had Trent at LT and Whit at RT. That tackle combo would have been legendary. Interesting too, bc what happens to Hav? I wonder if Hav would have got moved to guard.

Williams from the start didn't fit the Rams philosophy of We not Me. That's how I see it. All Ego right there. He was gonna get paid, what matter does it make in this case if he started at LG for what amounted to a couple of seasons? So, the 9ers got him and is one way mind. Fine by me.

Not trying to pick a fight with you bro because I like your posts. I just don't think he was even close to being a ram based on what I read.Cornell29 wrote: ↑November 5th, 2025, 3:18 amLater in the article, it says Whit called Trent and said he will move to RT, but by that time Trent said he already committed to the Niners.
