Honestly better QB play and this game doesn’t come down to wire. He sailed a bunch of 3rd and shorts n the first half. He had a horrible INT. Total lack of any athleticism forces them to be very one dimensional on offense. He got chased down by Jordan Davis on a 3rd and 2 that 95% of QBs turn into a 10 yard gain when the entire far side of field was open for a considerable scramble. This was when it was 26-14 at midfield.

He needs a stellar pocket and opposing defenses never have to worry about him running. Last week on MNF, mayfield on game winning drive extended a 4th and 10 with his wheels. Stafford would prob just throw an incompletion game over.

Can we get a modern QB? I like Stafford but he has to be so much better as a thrower to make up for these deficiencies.

Stafford crap the bed quite a few times today. I dont know really what to think about Stafford other than he has proven he can win a SB.
Should this be his last year as a ram? Don't know. I was a either way guy going into the season. Trade Stafford and get Rodgers or keep Stafford.
With that said, he is up in age and my guess is the rams draft a qb high in the draft next year.

He’s a 50 mil dollar cap hit. I think the Rams shitty red zone play is a lot on him. He really wasn’t good last year for large portions of season. He did well in the playoffs. He was totally pedestrian today and had good RB play and decent protection. Is Jimmy G at a 2 mil cap hit that different? Sure. Prob still

Got to agree. Especially when we were healthy towards the end of the year he didnt look good. Today ino was unexcusable easy passes sailed with NO pressure on him like he was nervous. We should have easily won this game we beat ourselves, between the Ref non calls, Shelton FUp, bad ST blocking, McVays dumb calls on 3rd and 1 and 3rd and 2 deep into the 4th quarter and Stafford was part of it.

Had enough of the offseason contract squabbles and slow play up injuries. You want to play that card, go win today. Darious Williams and Cobie Durant don’t take up the majority of your cap.

What's ironic is, imo

McSnead was ready to move on from Stafford, I really believe that. They were going to trade Stafford to Giants and sign Rodgers (who signed for 13 million), but Stafford lowering his demands, Rodgers negative stigma, the negative push back from media, fans and talking heads alike decided against it.

I also wonder if Mcvay want ti be seen shipping off another qb who didnt want to go, after shipping off Goff. It was one thing if Stafford said you pay me X or trade me, but once Stafford backed down his demands and said he wants to stay, Mcvay really didnt have much choice.

Saw on ROD. And I’ll admit. He looked old yesterday. Slow as shit. Grabbing his leg and back. Sailing what should be routine throws. Go look at Matt Ryan and Big Ben at the end of their career. Goes fast. Also hate the missing training camp thing. It makes a difference. Maybe rapport w Adams better and you hit one of those chunk plays and win yesterday. They need to figure out their QB of future this offseason. I assume why they picked up an extra first.

As for last spring, staff would have been murdered on Raiders or NYG. Our o line isn’t great, but those teams can’t block at all and have shitty offensive schemes.

Rodgers is washed too. Would t have changed anything.

Wonder if they were going to take dart at 26. They could have groomed him behind Jimmy G. We’ll never know.

I really think a lot of this is his back guys. This year he is just off more than ever. Not sure it's even an age thing, but something aint right.

It SHOULD have been his last year but the Rams just wasted $50 mils in 2026 on him.

I don’t blame Stafford for the loss because I don’t expect him to be anything other than average at best. My issue is the money they gave him for 2026

Baker Mayfield?..he couldn't hold Stafford's beer..please stop. When Mayfield gets to 60k yards passing and damn near 400 hundred TDs let's have this conversation..Every QB has their faults..every QB does!..every QB has bad games and craps the bed every now and then..Mayfield was more likely than not on his way out of being a starter in the NFL until McVay turned his light bulb back on for him. Look at Joe Burrow every one wants him as their franchise QB including many on here..super talented and fragile as a freaking ballerina! Franchise QB's don't just get plucked from bagging groceries at the local supermarket. Most everyone was a big Goff fan..until they weren't..so its a cycle of good and sometimes bad play. We truly have a franchise QB that can and has lead this team to the promise land!..count how many truly mobile QBs have won the last 10 Super Bowl's I'll wait..2 maybe and they aren't really considered a truly mobile QBs..they are a dual threat QBs who able to scramble out of most trouble! Stafford isn't perfect and it seems that short of him going 158.3 every weekend people are gonna hate and complain. It's almost a past time in here with the same cycle of complaints and those complaining. Do I want to see him playing better ball of course..but I've seen what the other 25 or so teams run out there on a Sunday and I'm still willing to take the good and bad with Stafford over those other 25 teams QBs. Until you or we find the next John Elway we should be counting our blessings that we have him in a Rams uniform no matter how hideous they look.

I'm with you on the whole mobile QB thing. It's exciting but doesn't translate to better offense. Though having a guy like Allen or Burrow who play great in the pocket and are mobile is a plus.

I'll say I was a Baker fan when he was at OU. Lost faith in him as a pro. But as of today he's arguably better than Stafford. I mean Baker threw 41 TDs last year. The guy has shown up. Not saying I take him over Stafford. But I could not blame anyone if they did.

I love Baker..my kind of QB..gutsy and tough..but he's no Steve Young either. Being mobile is definitely a plus ..but its not the most important aspect of a great QB..or even a super sustainable or successful one. To me Steve Young or John Elway were 2 of the very best most recent QBs who's passing and running were damn near impossible to contain..

If Stafford retires before the start of the 2026 NFL league year, the Rams would face a dead cap charge of approximately $41.87 million dollars.

Which means the Rams will need to replace him with cheap options like JG (around 13 million cap hit) and a rookie (around 4 million cap hit)

Rams overall would be paying less then 60 million to qb position for 2026, that's fine.

if you are talking about right now he more than can hold his jockstrap. Baker threw for 4500 yrds last year and had 41 TD's. Stafford had 20 Td's. We all know that Stafford is probably on his last 1-2 yrs but if you are comparing the 2 right now sorry Baker is younger and better. JMO

Stafford has one average to below average game and guys jump off the bandwagon. Our expectations of him are high, because his performance level has been so high for years.

I found it...

Year-to-Year: The restructured deal keeps Stafford in Los Angeles for the 2025 and 2026 seasons but is structured to be re-evaluated at the end of EACH year.

Financials: The new contract includes a $44 million salary for the 2025 season.

$40M guaranteed at sign (2025 salary, 2025 option bonus)

$40M of 2026 compensation fully guarantees the 5th league day of 2026

2025 Option Bonus: $24M (split into 4 separate $6M bonuses)

2026 Option Bonus: $24M (split into 4 separate $6M bonuses)

2027-2030 years automatically void the final league day of 2026

Dead Cap sucks

How about Anthony Richardson reclamation project? I like him better than almost all draft eligible guys. Mateer from OK is pretty tough.

I think Matt Stafford has more football left in him. More time with Davante during training camp would have been good, but it is what it is. I'm sure he's slowly dealing with back issues as well.

But I wouldn't be surprised if he retires after this season. Things always happen in threes: Kershaw, Kopitar, and.....

Its one cap hit of 41.87. Snead might be able to spread some of the hit to 2027, or just take the full 41.87 million dollar hit

He always has below average games tho.

Do you realize Rams may have to expend 1st round pick on an offensive tackle? How many 1st round picks do we have?

I think it could possibly be a damn good thing this team considers drafting a OT with one of their 1st round picks. A upcoming draft projected to be a good one for that position. It certainly isn’t looking like a draft where you move up to get a QB after it looking like it would be a great upcoming QB draft……..
