Lot of disrespect for Rams against Philly

Post by malibu »

This off-season the Rams have made significant changes to upgrade the team. Especially at Wr with Devante and Poona/Landman at ILB/NT to address our stopping the run deficiencies. Our coaches are the same, our players had a full OTAs, our depth is even stronger so why does most of the media feel we will lose this game against Philly? Not sure why to me it's a pickem game. There is no snow or cold to impede us. Our run D will be better and we are returning 19-of the 22 starters plus the new starters are all significant upgrades at those positions. Outside of the travel to the East coast and time zone change those are to me the only Rams deficiencies. We were potential 1 missed assignment block by Limmer to possibly scoring and us moving on in the playoffs last year. Also Speights, Fiske and Verse were rookies last season.

4.5 point dog to possibly the best team in the world on the road doesn't seem too unfair imo...3.5 now?

No disrespect but who cares. Game 3 of 17. Absolutely want to win n go 3-0 but win or lose it’s on to Indy the next week. This game will have no bearing on any game in January including if these 2 teams meet then. And those who say it’s a measuring tool as it relates to the rest of the season……. It’s not………

There are 6 division games on the schedule with much more importance than this one………

I agree with all that. I do think though that a win could really help this still young/hungry team continue to buy-in to the McVay family plan of course...but yeah it's play the game and move onto the next with no looking back (can't carry wins or loses into the next week).

RP I can see that point but I think this group is really confident and has completely bought in for a while now. I think the playoff game in a blizzard last year and how close they were in winning that game has done a ton for this young team………

Just get in and be healthy come January…….

Well, I care...sort of

Reasons why

1) The Rams face the first place schedule the entire year
2) Losing breeds losing and winning breeds winning
3) Indy is no slouch and 2-1 can lead to 2-2 just that quick
4) If the Rams want to get the respect, they have to earn the respect and that comes from beating playoff teams during the year
5) I like to discuss the point being made and even though you start off with "No disrespect" it still is disrespectful...you can alter that with "what they say doesn't bother because...." and that is respectful IMO

I enjoy your posts NOR we just disagree on this one...no biggie

Fair enough. I counter with…….

We do but we also have the NFC South n AFC South. Mind you every game isn’t a given but better than some of these other divisions……

I don’t think going 2-1 or 2-2 is going to breed losing with this team. Not after going 1-4 n 3-6 previous years and still getting in……..

I think the respect thing starts n ends with fans. This team IMO has respect where it matters. Sunday won’t change that…….

Malibu just worries about everything with this team. Just my way of saying hey we will be ok whatever happens Sunday. I’m fine with him. I don’t feel I disrespected him but have no issue with your comment…..

I agree no bigee………..

I think we wanna win this game because we want home-field advantage

Don't you guys wanna go to the Super Bowl?

Huge uphill battle if we have to go through Green Bay and Philly, let's get a first round by let's get home-field advantage

So yeah, let's not lose to Philly in Philly. Let's win.

I agree the close Philly playoff loss has been a building block/battle cry, but a blow-out loss Sunday could unravel that as well. A loss is a loss...sorta, I mean we'd like to at least prove ultra competitive vs Eagles (as most believe we are myself included). But yeah I again agree, win or lose there's SO MUCH more left ahead.

And I thought of that n certainly would want any n all playoff games at home. But under McVay n Stafford we both know not a must. See Tampa, needing to go to Az because of fire, and even the loss last year in Philly that no one, including probably me, would of said in a blizzard this SoCal team would have came that close…….

Certainly a blow out loss would be a bit hard for them. But under McVay I don’t think they would be down that long, a long plane ride back home, and they would easily move on to next week. We both know they have had a few ugly regular season losses the last 2 years and still……..

We weren't that good last year. We were a little above average. We were 10-7 and barely made the playoffs. We lost to Seattle in Game 17 at home, back-ups or not. We barely beat the Cardboard in Game 16 with them inside the 10 yard line and a crazy interception to win it. If Deebo catches that pass over the middle we most likely lose Game 14 in San Fran. We struggled all year long beating a good team (Bills, Vikes) here or there but losing games we should have won. We haven't earned respect. Plus how can we demand any respect when we are dressed the way we are?

I probably only agree about the uniforms...

Starting basically the first half the season with no Puka, injury-plagued Oline, new DC and all the youth...did we finish the year in the playoffs the same way as we started? The last game with PHL is what launched us into this season (including mentally) I'd say.

I think the Rams get quite a bit of respect around the League actually. Great D-line, elite QB with some scary weapons is mostly what I hear. Still young and growing.

Rams needed the rest vs SEA in that meaningless last game, esp after digging out of a monster hole with a string of must win games to reach the playoffs. They were dragging at the end (Jets, Cards). In the playoffs though, yeah that looked real to me...

well, nobody has been more vocal about home-field advantage than me, especially when we play San Francisco it's ridiculous, however, I'm sure if we have a January playoff game against the Eagles. We are going to have 55 to 60% of the fans. That's a hell of a lot better than one or 2%. not to mention the guy sleeping in their own beds, no jet lag, just overall more relaxed

Regarding respect - I think we are getting plenty. I've heard many talking heads say that with Stafford healthy, this team can beat anyone. And most polls have us in the 7 or 8 range.

Regarding respect for THIS game. Guys, let's be honest. Philly is the Super Bowl champ and beat us twice last year - putting up SIX HUNDRED RUSHING YARDS IN TWO GAMES. Until people see a reason to believe different, we have not earned respect in this match-up...yet. I'm totally fine walking into the Linc as the overlooked underdogs. Dying to see us change the conversation on Sunday.

Yeah Baby.. I like this right here.
We're expected to lose so losing won't be that big a deal, especially in week 3.
Winning however, and in Philly, will make many more notice. Almost put us at No. 1 wouldn't it?
It's all about the Trench's and who's more adept and physical.. GO Rams

I hear this all the time in sports radio. FNs call in and are all bent outta shape because the media doesn't give their team "respect". What does that even mean? They have to pick a winner, it doesn't mean they "disrespect" the other team. You cant have two winners.
I wouldn't lose any sleep if the media picked Philly by 21 points. Means absolutely nothing. There's 2 columns in the standings. W, and L. There is no column for media respect. Tough it up man! And if the Ram players also have hurt feelings, then they should try holding Barkley under 250 yards now and then.
