Isn't Winning Enough?
I was super happy the Rams took down the Texans which is inevitably a playoff team with a really good QB. However, many of the pundits and even some of this forum are complaining about how we played. I don't get that, this is already a step in the right direction over the past couple of years when we came out of the gate slow. If folks are making reference to areas where we can improve, I have no issue with that but questioning the coaching decisions (i.e. no Ferguson, Hunter, various cuts, play calling) makes no sense to me when we ultimately won. While I am at it, you win as a team and you lose as a team, so ease up on Reeder and Parkinson, we don't need to create a villain every year.

Winning is everything! Just need to improve every week so we are “the team” nobody wants to play against each and every week.

Agree with the O.P.
I've always said not every position can be a pro-bowler. Over the years I've defended guys like Havenstein, Higbee, Goff, ect. Criticism is fine but I find the fixations to be beyond annoying.
Yeah we all know Reeder isn't good. Doesn't need to be said ad nasuem.

Yes. Winning is the #1 goal. Couldn't agree with you more. You think the criticism is bad win we win? Just wait until we lose one game. People will want a new QB, a new coach, etc. It will sound like we will never win another game.

Rams beat a playoff team week one. The self inflicting mistakes are all fixable. The rams didn't lack talent that day, which is a good thing. The talent is there, and the mistakes are fixable and the rams won't always have that ref crew.

Re: Isn't Winning Enough?
Funny how the Rams F'd up when they turned it over but our Guys made plays when they did. hmmmm
I can give the Houston D props for making big plays that saved the moment just like Landman did.
The Texans had the 5th best Overall Defense in the NFL last year and we just beat them in a Defensive Struggle.
The Offense will get it going and they won't be playing one of the top D's every week...

Re: Isn't Winning Enough?
The calls by the refs, which some were iffy at best, cost the rams as much as 14 points. Thats not the Texans making plays, that's the rams players giving the refs something to throw a flag on. The flag on Reeder on the punt return, and flag on Whittington huge play down the field were soft imo. Kobie Turner roughing the qb flag that almost cost the rams the game was also soft.Rampager66 wrote: ↑September 11th, 2025, 6:53 pm Funny how the Rams F'd up when they turned it over but our Guys made a plays when they did.

Rams needs to clean up the flags and not give the refs anything close to call a penalty on.

I have a tough time with the ref argument bro when they got flagged 11 times and the Rams 7.Cornell29 wrote: ↑September 11th, 2025, 6:58 pmThe calls by the refs, which some were iffy at best, cost the rams at as much as 14 points. Do we know if all of the penalties called on Houston were LEGIT and didn't cost them setbacks like you attest to the Rams flags?
We won even if you are correct and the Refs didn't get it right. Another sign of a good team, they overcame and won anyways!

Again, flags can be cleaned up. Thats not the Texans as much as the Rams players needing to stop hurting themselves with penalties.Rampager66 wrote: ↑September 11th, 2025, 7:10 pmI have a tough time with the ref argument bro when they got flagged 11 times and the Rams 7.Cornell29 wrote: ↑September 11th, 2025, 6:58 pm

Some of those calls against the rams were weak, but that's fine we disagree there.

Re: Isn't Winning Enough?
How you play is always more indicative of how the team is going to be than the final score of any one game.
Honestly they played better vs the Lions last year in an OT loss. So the end result doesn’t necessarily show how you played.

Re: Isn't Winning Enough?
The offense did, but Texans D > Lions D
The Rams D played better vs Texans but Lions O > Texens O
The biggest difference and most important is they came out the game with the W unlike vs the Lions. Stafford qb play vs the Texans was outstanding considering the poor ol blocking, Texans D talent and receiver mistakes. He had 0 turn over worthy plays, nearly every pass was catchable.

Re: Isn't Winning Enough?
Apparently, Sean McVay and Chris Shula observe some value in Troy Reeder's play at ILB that many Rams fans are missing, I myself was surprised that our team retained Reeder over fifth-round rookie Chris Paul.HellRam wrote: ↑September 11th, 2025, 12:18 pm

Outside of Matthew Stafford, I'm figuring that Robert Havenstein and Tyler Higbee are the Good Guys' oldest players, so they tend to miss time with injuries on occasion. However, they still can perform effectively enough when relatively healthy, so they have some value although having decent backups for them is critical.
Winning an NFL game is always positive, even if our team shows some negative issues while doing so, however those weaknesses could result in future losses if not addressed. The O-line's problems with both pass blocking and run blocking vs. the Texans need to be dealt with right away, I'm figuring, even though the Rams' passing game and defense were strong enough to pull out a narrow victory at home this past Sunday.
Against an opponent like the Eagles, our team can't feature obvious vulnerabilities yet still win the game... :?
RAM SEASON!!

Re: Isn't Winning Enough?
Come on .. there's winning, winning in style and being ENTERTAINING while winning. Think GSOT, or Showtime Lakers.
a win is a win, but for casual fans 14-9 is a win, but an UGLY win. Put up 45 and it's a video game. Lot of folks have trouble maintaining focus for more than short periods, so up and down the field, or fast break basketball aligns with their attention spans more easily
Who doesn't like am offensive juggernaut.
We loved or 14-9 win, rightly so, but which was more entertaining to a casual audience, our game or the Bills-Ravens game
