Sounds like he just bumped knees which can be painful. He tweeted he is fine - then he deleted the tweet.

Verse is a great player but his foolishness is getting old. I do hope he is genuinely ok.

That is just brutal. What is the NFL team to do. How many players go down in camp for the season?bigklein wrote: ↑August 7th, 2025, 4:32 pm The highest paid OT in the NFL, Slater of the Chargers, is out for the season: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/char ... -practice/

I never understood why people get upset about how much these guys make, no one cares how much actors make. They are entertainers. More over they have to make enough in 3-10 years to last a lifetime. It takes a lot of money to keep your body prepared at that level.
No one bothers with how much the owners or league makes. Just the players.

The only time it bothers me is when it impacts our ability to sign other players and therefore improve them team.STL Woody wrote: ↑August 8th, 2025, 5:14 am I never understood why people get upset about how much these guys make, no one cares how much actors make. Are movies limited to a salary cap? That might be why fans get upset at the player salaries.STL Woody wrote: ↑August 8th, 2025, 5:14 am I never understood why people get upset about how much these guys make, no one cares how much actors make. Yea, I'll be upset when the Rams have to decide who to keep between Fiske, Verse, and Puka because they cant afford all of them. It has nothing to do with how much the owners make. The league hasn't capped them. So yea, players salaries ARE a concern. Or do you forget how Stafford, Donald Gurley, and Kupp had the Rams in cap hell. Its a problem when one player takes up 20% of a teams allowed cap.

I am agreement here, the only time is bothers me is when we overpay players and it affects how we can field the rest of the team.STL Woody wrote: ↑August 8th, 2025, 5:14 am I never understood why people get upset about how much these guys make, no one cares how much actors make. If there was no salary cap, I could absolutely careless what we gave these dudes.

I don't worry much about the cap...it's fun for us to talk about but we really don't know all the wording of the contracts.... fortunately for us the Rams have one of the best capologists in the business

Re: Rams star Jared Verse left practice with knee injury
It is always cool when a player is willing to take a team discount, and as a fan I understand the frustration, however I believe the frustration is misplaced. I don’t know many people whom would take less pay on the job for the owner of the company or location of the job. These men are attempting to set their families up for generations. I don’t like cap hell either however if given the small window of opportunity to set my parents, children, and grandchildren up for life I would absolutely do it. I think it’s unfair to be upset with a man for providing that level of security for his family. JMHORamsfan08ny wrote: ↑August 8th, 2025, 8:07 amAre movies limited to a salary cap? Re: Rams star Jared Verse left practice with knee injury
My frustration is with the system and the extremes that have become norms. The numbers—be they for players (Deshaun Watson?), owners, actors, CEO’s, and others—can be insane. I’m not saying we need to go back to when Wilt Chamberlin needed to work summers as a bell hop in the Catskills. That was crazy too. It’s just that the extreme numbers should not be norms. Things in general are very out of whack.

Re: Rams star Jared Verse left practice with knee injury
Well the question is who collects the extreme money from the TV deals and or revenue. I think it should absolutely go to the people whom are doing the entertaining. The money has to go somewhere. Not being combative just curious who you believe should collect.bigklein wrote: ↑August 9th, 2025, 9:43 am My frustration is with the system and the extremes that have become norms. Re: Rams star Jared Verse left practice with knee injury
I have no problem with the salaries. I do have a problem with how retirements can really screw the cap.
For example, If Stafford would suddenly retire, the Rams would be on the hook for more than 100 mil. They would have to cut players or do some serious restructuring.
Retirement $$$ should not count against the cap.

Re: Rams star Jared Verse left practice with knee injury
That retirement issue is another systemic problem.
STL, thanks for asking. While I agree that the stars should get a lot of money because they are also helping generate income for many others, I do think that more attention should be given to the many others who are less visible doing the everyday stuff to keep things going. Again, I just think that things are out of whack.
I apologize for this spilling into off-topic stuff. My original salary point was a bit out of context. I think that Slater was way overpaid, given his injury history. Now the Chargers are kind of screwed. Hopefully the Alaric Jackson contract will hold up. And I am glad that Verse is not really hurt and still on his rookie contract.

Re: Rams star Jared Verse left practice with knee injury
Indeed! I'm against any group of people being overwhelmingly overpaid, which unfortunately is quite common in American society.
When an NFL player who has already made $150-200 million in his career insists that "I'm doing this for my family," upon demanding $50+ million a year, I'm not exactly thinking, 'Of course you are.'
I also reject the concept that asking a player making $55 million a year to take a modest pay cut is comparable to asking a working-class person making $18 an hour to take one.
It's called massive, overpowering greed...

First off, taking a home town discount is not to save the owner money, as that money is going to be used to better the team.
I have no problem with a player working to set their family up. Where I DO get frustrated is when a star player signs a huge 5 year deal, only to want to renegotiate after 2 years because another player in the league got a higher deal.

It just blows me away also that teams get penalized when players retire or just quit the NFL . Awful rule.
Almost game time boys…
