How long will Rodgers last in Pittsburgh?

Post by DelMar »

Man, I just dont see Mike Tomlin putting up w Rodgers antics for long. Let's see if Rodgers can be a team guy. This is going to be interesting.

Are the Steelers a playoff contender now? How long does Rodgers last? Vegas for sure has prop bets on this... what comes first, Rodgers out from an injury or being a jerk and wants to sit out? 😂

What's kind of sad is that Pitt is always competitive so they can't get into the top 10 for a alledged franchise QB.

If I'm the GM in that situation, I'm spending half the draft budget and telling the scouting department to find me the top QB not slated to go in the top ten that has 1)leadership 2) a penchant for come back wins 3)intelligence 4) work ethic

I wouldn't care if he doesn't have Staffords arm... but a good enough arm for my system... of all the schools out there , there is at least one of those guys under the radar that usually don't get a chance. That was nearly Tom Brady and Purdy.

I don't think Rodgers will sit out. He knows his legacy is on the line. The injury question is completely unknown, but if there is an issue it will be from an injury.

Rodgers makes the Steelers better. They went 10-7 last year without a QB. They do have two tough divisional opponents, but they always play them well. Their defense can be nasty. I dont know much about the rest of the team but I consider their addition of Metcalf a slight upgrade. (They got rid of their most dynamic reciever, Pickens.) Every year I think this is the year Pittsburgh crashes and then they go 10-7. I think they will when about 9 games. Could be 8 and could be 10-11.

The one thing I know, we will hear about the golden boy every day of the season. If he wins 10 games they will vote for him for MVP. I have never liked the dude. Stafford needs to win the SB this year.

Given what the market was for Rodgers at his age and the contract he just signed (just 1 year), the Rams massively overpaid for Stafford’s 2026. Just makes that deal even more questionable.

These established 38+ year old QBs should be getting average to below average year to year money. So the Steelers deal from a cap perspective makes sense.

I disagree the Rams massively overpaid for Stafford

Rodgers is 41 Stafford is 37

Stafford has led the Rams to the playoffs the last two years and performed very well in those games

Rodgers hasn’t been in the playoffs in 4 years

Stafford had multiple teams interested in paying him more then the Rams just did

So I don’t see any massive overpaying for Stafford

Are you really comparing Aaron Rodgers to Matthew Stafford?

Two totally different issues here, Truth. Yes, you’re correct that they are older QB’s, but that’s it. There is no othet comparison beyond that.

I’ll let others explain why.

Ok when did Rodgers performance start trailing off? How old was he?

How old is Stafford going to be in 2026?

And Rodgers certainly had a higher ceiling to fall from

I don’t care if Stafford is your favorite player of all time. You don’t pay him $60 mils in 2026 when he’s going to be 38 years old just because he was good enough at age 33 to win for you.

Wow, welp... you went there, so here you go...

• Stafford is going to be 37/38 in '26.

When Rodgers was 37 (he won his 3rd MVP) ... and while we are at it, Aaron also brought home the MVP at age 38 (his 4th MVP)

So, you really want to keep doing this, Truth? I can actually keep going.... but, I think I have said enough.

Who cares about the ceiling. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Stafford will just fine in '26 sugar britches

I'm on the fence on this one.. as pointed out.. Rodgers is not that far removed from MVP.. I hope it doesn't work out but this could be the right place for him to resurrect his career.. maybe not back to where it was but good enough with the right pieces around him to win a playoff game.

he's going to have to do a complete 180 IMO. But the achilles injury is no joke so he more than likely wasn't ready to play last year. Not a big fan of the guy but for Pitt fans they have everything in on this guy.

I respect your opinion to post whatever you want. I just can't understand your logic. First of all, I don't think we are paying him $60M in 2026. It is currently $40M, but everyone agrees it will be re-negotiated for guaranteed $$. Even the Rams stated that is their approach to "year to year".

In regards to age...not sure that matters except the fact he will retire at some point. At 37-38 he is still better than 90% of the other QBs. (Including Jalen Hurts.) Jalen is only better because he will be on a team longer...not because he is actually younger.

Serious question...would you rather have Brock Purdy this year, or Stafford? (Purdy actually makes more $$.)

I agree that it is difficult to compare some QBs, but isn’t the fact you would take Stafford over Hurts at least count as a ranking for you?

Season can’t get here soon enough.

pure passer Staff all day long. But just not sure about everything else. I agree Hurts has better skilled guys and a better OL and that surely helps. Staff is more consistent that is for sure but when Hurts is on he is really good. Good problem to have either way

The Eagles were 5th in the NFL in scoring.
Hurts ran for 630 yards…the QB.
Hurts 69% completion %, 32 TD (Pass/Rush) and 14 (Fumbles + INTs).

Rams were 20th in the NFL in scoring.
Stafford 66% completions, 20 TD and 14 INTs/Fumbles

There is no way in hell the Eagles would want Stafford QB’ing their team over Hurts. None. You know how much the threat of the QB run opens up their entire offense? How many times could the Rams not convert 3rd or 4th and short. With the Eagles offense it’s easy.

Anyways, in 2026 Stafford will be 38 years old.

Joe Burrow
Lamar Jackson
Josh Allen
Patrick Mahomes
Jaden Daniels
Justin Herbert
CJ Stroud
Jalen Hurts
Baker Mayfield
Justin Love
Brock Purdy

All 11 of those guys will be in their absolute primes in 2026. So why would the Rams pay a 38 yrar old like he’s still in that group? He isn’t at age 38. Do some if you think he’s Tom Brady? He’s basically another Philip Rivers or Matt Ryan. And there’s a reason those guys weren’t paid like franchise guys at the end of their careers

You’re comparing the Eagles roster last year starting week one to the Rams week-by-week roster? How would Hurts have performed (stats/team stats) on the Rams roster last year? Stafford on the Eagles? Not a very worthwhile comparison regardless.

The Rams think Stafford has enough left in the tank to legitimately compete for a title still. He’s shown that as recently as last January. Was a complete stud against the Lions in the playoffs the year before…and has a pretty recent Super Bowl win. In fact, is there a more clutch QB in the playoffs than Stafford the last four years? He’s definitely coming near the end of his career, which is why he’s considered year to year. So?

And your list of players there – again so? Did I miss where they were made available to become a Ram this off season?

I do agree with almost all of your post but would have to say Mahomes was pretty clutch leading his team to 17 4th Q points in their 38-35 come from behind SB win VS the Eagles in SB 57. Add 3 SB rings from trips to 5 of the last 6 SB's... lotta clutch there...

I take nothing away from their Ring, because they whooped the 2 time defending champs by 33 points in the SB. However, the Eagles O also played 10 of their regular season games against defenses that ranked 23rd to 32nd or bottom 10 and piled up stats galore. We'll see how that works out this year. I expect a tougher season for them, particularly S Barclay. Their D was well tested tho and came up big for them both during the regular season and playoffs. They also avoided injuries like most champions do. I doubt that happens again either..
TB Bucs throttled the Eagles each of the last 2 years 32-9 and 33-16, both games in TB. They seem to have that D's number...

Patrick Mahomes also led the Chiefs to 21 fourth-quarter points in their comeback victory vs. the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV, I believe, and he spearheaded the Chiefs on their game-winning, TD-scoring overtime drive vs. the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.

That's two Vince Lombardi Trophies kept out of the 49ers' potential possession, I'll always be grateful to Mahomes for that... 8-) :!:

RAM SEASON!!
