Re: Cleveland Taking 2 Quarterbacks This Draft Is Good News
Gabriel pick makes zero sense. Now let's see what kind of guy Shedeur is. Will he go in like a bitch or will he walk in with a chip on his shoulder and go to work? If he does then you are right a QB probably will not be a pick for them next yr. But it is Cleveland so don't be surprised if they don't go QB next yr.BrooklynRam74 wrote: ↑April 26th, 2025, 11:23 am The only other team besides us with 2 picks in the presumed "Big QB Draft" of 2026, Cleveland loomed as being in our way as a trade-up candidate as the picks they possess would seem to be potentially HIGHER than ours.

Doesn't seem to be any path now for Cleveland to draft a Quarterback in the 1st round next year.
By the way, LOL and thank you @ Browns.

Stupid moves by Cleveland. They got two first round picks in 2026 because it has a better QB draft class. I have no doubt they will draft another QB with one of those picks. Why they took Gabriel in the 3rd round is beyond me. Its a wasted pick as Sanders is better and they can't keep that many QB's on the roster anyway (Pickett, Sanders, Flaco and Gabriel).
Oh and there is still Deshuan Watson who carries a dead cap hit of $167 million and $131 million if they cut him in 2025 or 2026 respectively.

That is funny. Especially how much money they have wasted on Watson with almost no production from him. That's why I hate guaranteed contracts.mburns wrote: ↑April 26th, 2025, 7:40 pm Stupid moves by Cleveland. They got two first round picks in 2026 because it has a better QB draft class. Re: Cleveland Taking 2 Quarterbacks This Draft Is Good News
I was thinking a similar thing but it's mildly wishful thinking. It's very possible they get a good look at Gabirel and Sanders over the next year and still decide to go QB. Cleveland has been a QB graveyard for a long time so they are grabbing as many as they can to improve their odds.BrooklynRam74 wrote: ↑April 26th, 2025, 11:23 am The only other team besides us with 2 picks in the presumed "Big QB Draft" of 2026, Cleveland loomed as being in our way as a trade-up candidate as the picks they possess would seem to be potentially HIGHER than ours.

They should have continued to draft good non-QB players and then plug in Arch Manning or whoever next year.

I don’t see it with Gabriel. I think that was a waste of a pick. Shedur I think his floor is Geno Smith. So I think he will be serviceable for them but not a superstar. But if you pay a Geno Smith level QB on a rookie deal I think that has lot of value

Pickett and Watson will never play a down in Cleveland. That leaves Flacco, Sanders and Gabriel. Sanders will be 2nd string with Gabriel either on the practice squad and or 3rd string. And no way does this reduce their chances next year of drafting the top QB if they have the 1st pick overall IMO

Re: Cleveland Taking 2 Quarterbacks This Draft Is Good News
IMHO, I can see Pickett starting the season because he's a young vet and former 1st round pick. By mid season you will see Gabriel and Sanders play a few games. That should give Cleveland plenty of time to decide if they need to jump back into the QB lottery again. If I'm Cleveland I know Flacco and Watson are not the future. What a debacle that Watson trade was (and still is). Geeeze.ocram23 wrote: ↑April 26th, 2025, 9:14 pmPickett and Watson will never play a down in Cleveland. That leaves Flacco, Sanders and Gabriel. Flacco gets the start in week 1 IMO. Worst trade in the history of the nfl49RH8R wrote: ↑April 26th, 2025, 9:39 pmIMHO, I can see Pickett starting the season because he's a young vet and former 1st round pick. It is the spaghetti against the wall concept draft two later round QBs combined with Flacco, Pickett and a hurt Watson for a total of 5 QBs and see who sticks realistically 4 with Watson out. If none stick which I assume they still will be in the QB market next draft so we still have competition. As stated previously their two picks next draft are way more likely to be better than the Rams/ATL picks.
Getting the #1 pick will be very unlikely because the top team drafting #1 usually is at #1 due to no QB so getting the top pick will be hard to pry away unless ATL falls completely apart but the division they are in is very weak and show no signs of being drastically better. NO has no QB, Carolina has an okay QB, only TB looks solid. ATL is the second best team in the division. Also their schedule is quite easy.

there is roughly 6 teams that could possibly pick QB next yr in round 1malibu wrote: ↑April 27th, 2025, 8:02 am It is the spaghetti against the wall concept draft two later round QBs combined with Flacco, Pickett and a hurt Watson for a total of 5 QBs and see who sticks realistically 4 with Watson out. 1 - atl is really bad, and finish with a top 5 pick.
2 - 1 or 2 additional college QBs take a big step forward this year.
The Rams need a draft class like last year where there are 6 NFL caliber QBs in the mix.

I think your point 2 is the most important. We need 3 studs from college this year to have a chance.Ramsfan08ny wrote: ↑April 27th, 2025, 12:26 pmWe gotta hope one of two things happen

No way Flacco starts. It's one of the other 3. And they will probably have no way of knowing who's the future unless they let all 3 play. Which is unlikely. Weird situation in Cleveland. The Gabriel pick made zero sense in hindsight.

There were some customary self-congratulations in the form of light applause, but head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry looked like they had a 'gun pointed at there head after Sanders pick.

Berry did not look happy that is for sure and his press conference after was spot on. Said he will have to come in and work hard to earn a spot on this team. 2 of the QB's will be cut or traded by the time camp starts. Sanders could be the mid season starter if he puts his head down and works hard. Not sure he will be able to focus and stay off of social media though

3 - Unproven QB's need to step up and prove themselves (Anthony Richardson, Fields, Bryce Young) so those teams don't draft a QBRamsfan08ny wrote: ↑April 27th, 2025, 12:26 pmWe gotta hope one of two things happen

4 - Above average QB's like Mayfield, Tua, Darnold need to play well so they don't get replaced
5 - LV, PIT, CLE, NO need to string some wins together so we are striking distance of a QB
