Our Forum Is Back!

Post by GlendoraRam »

After dealing with the worst hosting company in the world and after paying nearly $500.00, we are back.
The additional $500.00 was for shit I never ordered or approved!
Anyone, things have been extremely stressful and I am glad things are up.

Well, in 10 years of running this forum, this is the third time this nonsense has happened. I guess I have to roll with it.
I will tell ya one thing, customer service sucks ass everywhere these days - the incompetence is unbelievable.

And here I thought this was Safety Blitz, aka Perfect Spiral had hacked the system and destroyed the forum after he got booted for a 7th time.

🤷🏼‍♂️😜

Sort of had me by the balls, pay up for stuff I never agreed to or lock me out.
Three months worth of “security and backup” enhancements. I use Cloudfare for security. $12.00 per month.
Cleverly set me up, and I didn’t notice I had to opt out. Same way (only worse) that cell companies and cable companies tack crap on.
This hosting company has over 2500 complaints with the BBB. One of them, a guy sold a domain for 1mil, and was charged 150k to release it.

Thanks for everything you do. I thought I was blocked because I'm currently out of the country.

I had good luck with Bluehost FWIW.

There is no such thing as customer service anymore.
It's screw the customer, they are not worth the effort.

Thank you for everything you do to keep this board running!

There is no way you can switch hosting companies, or even host yourself at some point?

I will definitely looking into switching at the end of this month. Self hosting would be very expensive in terms of the hardware. There are some really good alternatives, I will choose one of the emerging alternatives.

Is that because of performance, security, redundancy, etc? I have seen people run blogs/forums out of their house. (I don't really know any details.) It's not like the board has to be up 24/7 if the power went out, etc. I just always find this nerd stuff intriguing. I just can't imagine bandwidth being a problem, but what do I know. Do you own the laramsfans.com domain name?

The hardware would be costly. The server itself, and I would definitely need to have more bandwidth. I use Cloudfare for DNS management and security. They provide GREAT service.
Yes, I own all the domain names. TheRamsForum.com, LARamsFans.com, and LARamsNews.com
I maintain the site and do all the add-ons and customization.
I am looking into a good VPS solution.
