Just Rewatched the Last Niners Game

Post by therealheadslap75 »

It wasn't the "losing in the trenches" game I thought it would be.

We ran 10 times for 5.2 ypc they ran 44 times but averaged 3.5 ypc

our DL, penetrated but we only had 4 for most of the game and they were exhausted, our LBers were pretty bad

We seemed to block them pretty well but the mistakes were many and costly:

Staff deep pic, Higbee gift pic 6, stupid fake FG try, Kupp costly drop, Higbee costly drop, Van costly drop

I will say this an awful lot of focus was spent adjusting OBJ and Von, I think this game is going to surprise the Niners

Bottom line was we allowed them to extend drives, they ran the ball 44 times got a lot of dirty 4 yd carries but were able to cover 3rd downs with dinks and tons of Rams mixed tackles

We only sacked JG once but the soft zone allowed him to play the quick release

Reeder is a coverage disaster, whoever he's covering is the primary receiver

if we see Raheem in the soft zone, we know we don't have a very good chance, I hope Mcvay is not that dumb

You jogged my memory-that game was a cluster F of mistakes and bad mental decisions plus the 49ers taking advantage of a terrible game plan by McVay and Morris-the M&M brothers. If Jimmy G plays and is allowed to have easy underneath throws all day I will probably throw a beer bottle through my TV

Nice evaluation; I can't bring myself to view the last 9ers game, so I appreciate your assessment.

Need to shut Kittle down with Ramsey. Von Miller and OBJ will most definitely be different players on Sunday.

Kupp will want to close in on his records, and then there is Michel and Akers. If our STs become special again, and AD gets annoyed, we should be able to send the 9ers and the rest of the League a real message.

Go Rams!

Yep again execution and decision making. Players not making plays………….

Someone has been saying this for a while now while others continue to think” well if we can win the brawl”…………..

You going back and rewatching the last game solid effort by you as well as posting what you saw. Thanks. I unfortunately delete, as in the recording of the game, immediately any loss to that team…………………

And as you said slap there is no getting around Reeder will be exposed in the Niners game plan as well as Rapp……………

Both huge damn concerns. No one seems to exploit those two more than Shanahan…………..

You counter that with can the Rams exploit their average at best secondary. Last game they couldn’t……………..

Why Jones why did you have to get injured? Reeder is such a liability in coverage. Howard has to get nore snaps. He is supposed to be a coverage LB. Why not Hollins at ILB, is he worse then Reeder in coverage?

Yeah that's pretty much how my nightmare from that game continues to play out.

Nicely done.

Jones certainly created a bit less concern……………

Howard, Reeder, Rapp. None are the answer IMO. Hollins I’m not sure he is either…………..

The key is those players that don’t need to be mentioned getting to the QB. But the Niners do have a good OL……………..

Niners> Just a really difficult match up for this current Rams team. It’s why there in no way in bleep I want to see them in playoffs……………

Those stats are deceptive. We were never in that game and they dominated in the trenches.. They started with an 11 minute drive, they got the lead and then they sat on it. They held the ball for 2/3 of the game. We couldn't stop them.

The first two picks on the first two drives didn't help. I wouldn’t categorize either one of those “trench dominated” factors……………….

Agreed the rams D couldn't get the Niners offense off the field. If this happens again, expect Mcvay to lose patience and panic and go all pass happy.

The Rams D needs to set the tone early and get the niners O off the field, with a few 3 and outs. If the rams can play with a early lead this game is over. Rams win. The D came up big in the Tampa game early despite the Rams O struggling a bit early on. Need the same from the rams D against the Niners.

Not all long drives happen because one side dominates the other in the trenches, My recollection was that was what happened

…No but it was a collage of missed tackles short runs, timely short passes, bad fit ins, it wasn’t a physical beat down with 9 ypc and all day in the pocket

On the other side of the ball Stafford generally had time but was not connecting or not connecting when he needed to
