Rams clearly need a replacement for Rapp
Yeah, yeah, Ramsey undoubtedly shouldn't have struck Rapp yesterday.
However, one other thing IS also very clear...Taylor Rapp is a huge liability at safety. He's slow, poor in coverage and an absolutely terrible tackler. I'm sure that had John Johnson not left for the Browns, Rapp would, instead, be where he really should be-- maybe a special teamer or, preferably, not even on the 53-man roster.
Even with few 2022 draft choices, Snead and McVay can likely find a better replacement for Rapp. Let's hope that happens.

To me, the big head scratcher is Terrell Burgess. I really thought that he was the reason that the Rams let Johnson walk. The kid showed great potential before he was injured. What happened? I think the Rams were counting on Burgess. It hasn't worked out; and they are stuck with Rapp this season.

Rapp pointed pre snap at Ramsey trying to get #5 to move closer to line of scrimmage. Ramsey went off on him after that play perhaps triggered by Rapp's direction. Ramsey is a jerk. Reeder and Rapp get way too much criticism.

Re: Rams clearly need a replacement for Rapp
AD99 appears to like him, Coach has given him 2 game balls....
Same with Reeder, seems tight with the team , just some of the fanbase that constantly rips on him.
If both these guys were really as terrible as many in here think, and keeping in mind how much esteem those people have for Sean and Aaron... don't you think the coach would be talkin along those lines, as we saw with DSJ and JG?
Sounds like a personnel dislike to me because if they completely sucked, they wouldn't be out there for the # of snaps they are... and Sean would be treating them differently..

Re: Rams clearly need a replacement for Rapp
I agree that Reeder has lately been more effective than he was earlier in the season. However, any way you cut it, and pointing at Ramsey or not, Rapp is a liability. Period. Perhaps the most ineffective Ram safety I've ever seen...and I've been a fanatic Ram fan since 1955.

Re: Rams clearly need a replacement for Rapp
Rapp was drafted to be a hybrid linebacker/ Strong Safety. The further he gets away from the line of scrimmage the less effective he is. People on this board always point to the 3rd and 19 that was converted against Rapp by the Niners a couple years ago. Rapp was playing because JJ was out with an injury. You can’t put someone in a position that they lack the speed and skills to play and expect good things. Burgess played well as a rookie and then got hurt. He hardly has played since and hasn’t played well when he has an opportunity. For some reason Morris likes Rapp over Burgess so he keeps playing him out of position. Rams need to address the free safety position in the offseason. Until then Rapp will always be a liability in coverage.

Maybe you didn't read the article...the pointing was addressed...according to the article it was Rapp that was out of position playing too deep.Safety Blitz wrote: ↑January 3rd, 2022, 9:40 am Rapp pointed pre snap at Ramsey trying to get #5 to move closer to line of scrimmage.
