Stafford vs Goff trade? Worth it

Post by Darrin75 »

Now I’d say heck yes. And this video backs what I think. What say you. Just another topic of general conversation that’s all.

Two late 1st round picks, a 3rd + getting out of the Goff contract after a year is the steal of the century.....because I'm guessing Staff plays with the Rams a minimum of 5 years.

Rams hit this out of the park.

Stats after 15 games. Goff after 15 games 2020 vs Stafford after 15 games 2021. Ints are the same but Stafford has 3 less fumbles and almost double the tds. If the rams wanted to they could get 2 late 1st pick value for Stafford in 2022 in a trade. Again, if they wanted to.

Well I guess we'll find out come playoff time. The offense is drastically more talented this year then last with the additions of Jackson (short stint), OBJ, Michel, Allen replacing Bylthe, Corbett and Edwards development along with Van Jeffersons. So comparing Goff 2020 to Stafford this year doesnt add up to me. Its a completely different team.

Does Stafford play a big role in the playoffs. That will determine the overall grade of the trade...
There you go HellRam… defending your boy again. SB year, Goff had all the tools he needed to win a SB. Yes, some of that was on McVay’s play calling but teams knew exactly what to do to counter Goff, knowing he doesn’t bring anything extra to the table. I can’t believe we are still talking about this. SCREW THE STATS, the big difference between Stafford and Goff, on Staffords bad days, he can still do just enough to win the game. Keep defending your boy, but McVay isn’t stupid, he got rid of him for a reason. No jokes aside, you bought a Detroit Goff Jersey, didn’t you? Be honest, no shame on this forum!

Good lord. Why is it that if anyone says anything good about Goff it's looked at like they're killing puppies or something. Goff played his ass off for the Rams. The problem was, he is what he is, and that's it God forbid anyone who says anything good about the man.

Well I think the bottom line is McVay and Goff needed a divorce and that relationship couldn't continue. Who's at fault doesn't matter. So now what are the Rams options at QB? Stafford was the best option. The debate about whether is was good or not is probably way past it's expiration date. Probably time to move on.

Goff and McVay didnt "need a divorce." Goff's not good enough to warrant one. Rodgers and Green Bay may Divirce. Wilson and Seattle may Divorce. Brady and Belichick Divorced. Even Stafford and Detroit Divorced. Did the Bears and Trubisky "Divorce?" LOL. McVay simply Fired Goff. Like the Bears fired Trubisky .
lol. What year did Trubisky have an over 100 qbr throw for 4600 yds and go to the super bowl? did I miss that?

Agreed!

To misquote an old saying, "The proof of the pudding is in the playoffs."

Jared Goff proved to be capable of leading our team into the postseason, even once to the Super Bowl. Matthew Stafford was acquired to quarterback the Rams to a Super Bowl victory and their second NFL championship in Los Angeles.

The top of the NFC is stacked with strong teams this year, so let's see how Stafford does in the playoffs... :) 8-) :geek:

ram pathos...

Agreed that the playoffs will be the big factor. If Stafford comes up big at crunch time in the playoffs, then we will all forget the stink bomb he pitched in Minnesota. For now though, Stafford and the Stafford/Goff trade is the biggest thing of the year for the team. It's gonna be talked about.

What the hell are you talking about? Nothing I said was "defending" Goff. You really need to get over it already....real talk. That or take a reading comprehension class. We know you southern folks dont read too good now ;)

My post was a accurate description of what needs to take place for the trade to be a win in my opinion. You disgree? Fine! However, what I said is irrelevant to Goff regarding the trade.
Southern folk… originally from NY but maybe some South has seeped into my blood, Lol! Ok, I reread it without a drink in me. Maybe you didn’t defend Goff… this time! Real talk… Stafford, imo is better than Goff but Goff is gone, so I’m more concerned with Stafford. Not going to lie, Stafford worries me at times but I still feel he is adapting, regardless, and this includes this Baltimore game this week, if McVay abandons the run game, we will lose. I don’t believe in SB or bust but yes, Stafford needs to perform well in post season.

The good news is the rams still have Stafford. If they wanted they could flip Stafford in 2022 (as long as he doesn't suffer any major injury) and get back the value of two first round picks. With thatbsaid I doubt the rams flip Stafford, but I understand why the rams felt it was a win / win situation trading for Stafford.

If made available, Stafford one year remaining, at a great salary cap price would temp teams like Broncos, Carolina or Washington etc.
