This did not start out as a political post.
So you didn't notice a current politician's name right there in the topic title, hmmmm...?? :( :?:

The OP knew exactly what kind of pot he was stirring. He has done it so many times that it clearly wasn’t by mistake. Most of the threads like this he has started end up in off topic because the responses are usually along political lines and we all know how divided those are. Funny how instead of acknowledging his error he doubles down by attacking those who don’t share his politics and now he has a problem about their residence. Just sad that apparently since he has little to offer in regards to real Rams football he finds it necessary to bring in off topic items. I’m guessing he can’t find enough satisfaction in off topic because most have moved on from that mess and the only people left there are of the same opinion. Nobody to attack anymore.

From the initial thread that is not one word from OP other than first line which he was called out by including from me which was 1% of his post. Repeat 1% of his post…………….

The NFL has confirmed through spokesman Brian McCarthy to WFAA in Dallas that the league has inquired into the availability of AT&T Stadium for that same date to host the Super Bowl. The home of the Dallas Cowboys. Though speculation has been made that the NFL is preparing to move the Super Bowl because of potential COVID restrictions in California, McCarthy says that the league makes these inquiries every year as a contingency plan.

“We plan on playing Super Bowl LVI as scheduled at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 13,” McCarthy said. “As part of our standard contingency planning process that we conduct for all regular and postseason games, we have contacted several clubs to inquire about stadium availability in the event we cannot play the Super Bowl as scheduled due to weather-related issues or unforeseen circumstances. Our planning process for the Super Bowl in Los Angeles is ahead of schedule and we look forward to hosting the Super Bowl there to culminate another fantastic NFL season for our fans and clubs.”

Where in any of that is there a trace of “political flavor”? There is none. He copied comments from an update from the league’s spokesman on the subject matter. Subject matter being the bleeping Super Bowl which last time I recall is a football event…………….

And spin job 1000 in 5-4-3-2-1…………………

DMRamFan wrote: January 6th, 2022, 9:26 am First of all, thank you sir. I appreciate your post. I always have. We can disagree and still be pals. This is exactly a great way on how one should communicate with another poster.

You see what NorCal did here? He made sense of both sides in a constructive way. He doesnt come in here like a bull in a china shop telling others what to post of not post. He does not demand anything.

To your point NorCal, I agree. Maybe I should have held off on exactly the 'tone' the way I said Newsome's name here. But I am just exhausted of it. Living in CA, and over twos years now of constant shut downs, mandates, fines... etc etc. Our Gov has been so quick to mandate things that it has hurt us more than it has helped us. He tells us all to follow these things, yet he goes out to dinners and does all the things he tells us not to do. Drives me nuts. And he is the one that will ultimately decide on IF we play the SB here or not. That was the ONLY reason I brought his name up. So, imo... Newsome has everything to do w this topic. I want our RAMS to be at home for the SB. It's already been postponed once, now again? Come on.

I work w many companies in LA, and a number of them have been gearing up for the SB for months. They all just finally started to get back on their feet again... then BOOM. To have this happen would just devastate them. I had one client tell me that he has invested millions into that wkend preparing.

The other part of this I did not mention, was If the Rams were going to the Super Bowl. I was going with another buddy. We were planning on dropping $2-4K each for seats. If its moved and our Rams get into the big show, I would just be livid. I am not going to damn Dallas for it, that is for sure.

Bottomline, its not fair to us CA people to move it. If you cant play here, than you cant play it anywhere. Has to be the same across the board imo.

So, I do not apologize for this post. Wording could have been different, sure... but bottomline, CA and LA County needs to pull their crap together. Hosting the SB will be fine. I mean come on, how is it any different in Dallas than having it here? Why? All because of these archaic lockdowns. I ave NO problem w mask, testing, whatever. But shutting everything down again, is not the answer.

Now, back to this Sunday.....

8-)
I'm not a Los Angeles area resident but I can fully understand the impact and resulting frustration on Ram fans who do live in the area. Very well articulated DM. You post would be perfectly at home on LA sports pages and so just as at home here.
Your right. The FIRST line and the TITLE of the thread were POLITICAL.

Everything else was just dribble.

The responses basically followed political lines.

Nothing new here. The OP knew exactly what he was doing. I’m guessing he got tired of the sausage fest in Off Topic where he has roughly 20 other threads. I just wish he would figure out the difference between Rams Talk and Off Topic. It’s amazing how many posts you don’t see when you block him. Haven’t missed anything of value ever since. Amazingly effective spam filter. I highly recommend.

Hmmm... That's huge money lost. Just huge. Hopefully things improve to where it's not necessary. I wanted that home venue stadium in case the Rams do make it. I get it. I do. I'm just really tired of the rona
Me too, however obviously the "rona" isn't tired us of us yet, is it?

From reading national sports media articles on Super Bowl VI's location, from objective nonpolitical sources, it strikes me that the NFL is determined to hold it in SoFi Stadium unless there's a serious medical crisis.

Putting the prevention of unnecessary deaths above sporting events and business profits, I have *zero* problem with that approach--which unfortunately is rejected in many parts of Texas.

The Rams making it to the game as participants, that remains rather problematical at the moment... :( :?

Yeah im with you on all of that. If Stafford can return to his first six or so games status of virtually mistake free football..nobody is beating the Rams. Unless that happens, yeah problematic.

So the 99% that you choose to ignore you define as “dribble”…………. But the 1%…………

I was at Disney Land today. The only time you had to wear a mask was when indoors. There wasn’t any social distancing going on, in fact one ride attendant said “If you have room to breath you have room to squeeze, move up!.” No one is cleaning the rides between riders. There isn’t anymore cleaning going on than usual. It was very busy. I bet the two parks see over a million people a month.

It would be hypocritical to move the SB while this other stuff is going on. At least if the Governor made that decision.

There is nothing political about this topic. It is a fact that the issue has been raised by the CA media referencing the Governor.

The issue is whether or not you think it will happen. Rams are playing this weekend at home so why would they move the Superbowl? That honestly makes no sense. There are no super spreader events reported anywhere in the country attributed to the current strain of the virus.

Like one poster said why would Dallas be any different than LA? There is none.

My take is the Superbowl stays in LA.

If the game moves, I guess that means Dallas has no chance. Oh, the drama!!!
No it doesn't. Rams still aren't going.
No, it's simply a lie regardless.

They just postponed the Grammys. To be consistent it’s entirely possible the Super Bowl could be moved.

Maybe lose some of that Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Two distinct differences here...

The Crypto arena is enclosed and much smaller/compact
So-Fi Stadium is Open Air and much larger/spacious...

Lol - the inconsistency of the Corona Bros is amazing.

I don’t want them to move the game, I just find the double standard as obvious as it is hilarious.

The NFL has no plans to move the Super Bowl to Arlington, Texas, or anywhere else despite the recent rise in COVID-19 cases and the accompanying health precautions in California, several officials confirmed Thursday at SoFi Stadium during a media event held to mark one month before the 56th edition of the Super Bowl on Feb. 13.
