Football players generally overall are not a very bright group

Post by 24/7ramsfan »

Here are a few indisputable causes and examples:

1.Being pushed through college classes for school benefit: don't tell me this isn't done. most of these guys wouldn't be let in the door if it wasn't for football.

2. Head injuries: Lots of these guys weren't dealing with a full deck to begin with. 96% former have brain damage

3. Neighborhoods they grew up in:Don't see a lot of road scholars coming out of the hood

4.Like to go broke: 2 years after retirement 78% of NFL players either go broke or struggle financially

#2 is a big one. TBIs are a very serious issue. But, the latest medical research still has a long long way to go on the subject. But, they do know a number of issues can be caused by multiple head impacts. I love the days where Warren Sapp would lay someone out. It should always be part of the game. But there has to be some sort of reasoning when it comes to TBIs and I don't think it should come from making rules where a player can't be hit. If anything, the players need more recovery time from a massive hit.

#3 Schools all over are shit. When I was growing up, the political answer to getting more kids to pass the high school exit exam was to lower the standards. When I was in sports, the teachers didn't give two fucks about how I did. As long as I was polite, they gave me good grades.

#4 people aren't financial educated in most cases, which is a sign of the times. So of course when you get a ton of money, most will fuck it away.
