Tom gave up late homers in game 5 and 6 to Ozzie Smith and Jack Clark.

However, if the Dodgers win the WS (a big if), MLB will probably instill a salary cap which would bring parity to small markets. Today's M:LB is like the 1990's NFL where the ring chasers would join the Niners because they outspent every other team.
I think there will be a long lockout after the 2026 season until MLB gets a system like the NBA has. The luxury tax isn’t enough to deter MLB spending, but in the NBA with the apron system it definitely does. MLB will never have a hard cap like the NFL though. The NFL can do that because each team is getting an even split from the TV money. But in baseball, the Dodgers local TV money is so much more than most every other team so they have that money to spend if they want too.

Even the Blue Jays are 5th in payroll. I think baseball probably wants the Dodgers/Yankees to be good. I know lot of the small market teams don’t, but TV execs love having the Dodgers on.
revenue sharing was supposed to help the small market teams but what they did instead was pocket the money and not spend it. that needs to change. Teams can't continue to cry small mrkt when they are taking the money and not spending it

also don't understand the philosophy that you can't move a guy down the lineup..Mookie in the 3 spot is a joke. Move him town to the 7 spot...3 spot represents your best hitter arguably and he is far from that

Well, it who .. they move Muncy up and down at will, they move Smith and Enrique .. just not the main guys. I still don't like Ohtani hitting leadoff. I'd rather he hit third where he might get more than ONE run for his bombs. Would be different if we had guys at the bottom getting aboard, but our lower order hitters are basically K machines, ands HOW does a guy hitting *.080* over 50 AB's still show up in the lineup day in and day out. Makes Muncy and Betts look like Ruth/Gehrig in comparison. Shit put Rojas out there, or Edman and play Kim if he's on the roster

lineup is out. Rojas playing 2b, Edman CF...Betts batting 4th.....have no idea why you would bat Bettis at 4. he should be at 7-9

Well, Yamamoto came through again .. but using Glasnow was interesting. That makes game 7 everyone and their brother, and I have less faith in the BP than the starters.

I have been very critical of Roberts for a very long time but using Glasnow was brilliant. It was do or die and our bullpen sucks and quite frankly you can not trust anyone. Sasaki has proven he is too young to pitch in these big moments...I feel like he is going to throw up on the mound.
Glad Mookie got a hit tonight
Not sure what the hell Barger was doing on 2nd base in the 9th. Dude had a solid game but it doesn't matter because he got doubled up to end the game.
How about Yamamoto...if Dodgers win he is your MVP hands down

3 days rest appears to be too big of obstacle even for great ones like Ohtani.

Dodgers gonna need to work to get back in this one.

Dodgers 13-4 -played .760 ball through the playoffs. Not too shabby. *5* of those wins come from Yamamoto

GREAT win by the homies ..

That said .. the game was the Dodgers offense in a microcosm . .

Toronto gets 3 on one swing of the bat ..

Takes the Dodgers *3* swings to equal it

The Dodgers final 3 runs of the series were all on homeruns and each was a solo shot.
As Vin would have said, the minimum out of the maximum

This offseason, they have to find some guys who just know how to get on base

I think it’d be hilarious if they signed Bo Bichette. Honestly I’m less interested in the Dodgers now than really ever before because the regular season is a formality when it comes to making the playoffs. They are stacked enough to where it’s nearly impossible to miss the playoffs (I think they’ve made it like 13 years in a row). So it’s really only interesting in October. I’ll def tune back in next October bc a 3 peat would be magical. But whether they win 90 games or 105 games it’s kinda pointless. MLB regular season is about as important to me as NBA regular seasons

I think that’s why NFL is still the #1 sport. Every week matters and each season is different with the parity.

For me to get interested again in the regular season I need to see some prospects. Rushing should be better next year. Maybe the kid De Paula makes the leap or River Ryan comes in. This current group, obviously a great team and Ohtani is a show to himself, but the regular part of the team I don’t really have much strong interest in bc they are such a veteran group I’ve seen it all

I hope you watched the series because IMO it was probably the best WS I have ever seen....Just crazy ass games. Bichette would look great in a Dodger uniform :D

Consider this .. the Dodgers have won back to back World Series titles and they have hit for an average .208 our UNDER in each series.

Who, exactly, has been playing with the juju beads the last two seasons????

it is crazy for sure. If you look at their lineup you can argue they need to get 4 new position players.

They definitely need a LF, 2B, CF (if Pages is really not going to progress) 3B, not really happy about either backup C, since I don't think either showed anything.

C - Smith, but we need to start looking forward, and at least find a backup that can hit his hat size when he plays
1B - Freeman, but again, need to start looking, he's starting to get a little long in the tooth
2B - Kim? or get someone on the free agent or trade market
SS - Betts, they will run him back one more year at least, but this guy needs to work on his bat offseason
3B - ? My best guess is they run Muncy back one last year while they search for a long term replacement. If I could contact this guy I would STRONGLY suggest that is he is coming back, he spends the offseason working on an OPEN batting stance. His closed stance isn't really working and the open stance should help him see the ball better, maybe get a few more contact hits. One thing about Muncy is hidden value. His TotA is .867 and has been .918 and .917 last two seasons. Freeman, for example has been .879, .862 last two. Muncy also has a career .433 SecA, with .456 and .444 last two seasons. This is where his walk numbers comes into play.
LF ? I've seen Kyle Tucker suggested to the Dodgers, but I don't know if I want to pay what he's looking for, which is suggested to be in the $400 million range. Not sure he's worth that. Failing that, Bellinger is back on the market, but his non Yankee Stadium OPS SUCKED. Guess the best thing is see who hits the market and who we want to spend the money on, but I doubt they go for anyone with a large contract
CF - Pages/Edman platoon for now I guess. Pages COMPLETE failure in the postseason though is SO concerning. I mean Muncy hit .214, his career is .216, but the Dodgers are 13-4 in postseason series with Muncy, he has hit 16 bombs with 37 RBI (not fantastic, but at least modestly productive) 65/93 walk/SO ratio, which is not horrendous and a .381 OBP with an above average .817 OPS. Pages in TWO seasons is a combined 8-70 .114 BA 2HR 5RBI and a 0/17 walk/SO ratio with a .151 OBP and a .365 OPS. Hell that last one doesn't even qualify as SUBPAR it's so bad, let alone the OBP being just flat out abysmal. Yet they are 6-0 in series he played, but outside on defensive play, I think we can agree he hasn't contributed much 1-16 in this series, including a weak ass grounder up the middle in crunch time AB. He regular season is better but still below par .310 OBP and below average .747 OPS. His TotA is .692 and SecA .242 If you aren't a good hitter, you gain value in SecA. Pages does not do that. TotA above .300 is good and SecA .350-400 is good, above .400 is excellent and denotes the best offensive contributors. Ohtani for example is 1.047 and .479 and has been .542 and better each of the last 3 years, though the numbers have declined over the last two
RF - T. Hernandez He is playable, some of his numbers go up in the postseason, his BB/SO ration is better, OPS worse. My biggest issues are his regular season BB/SO ration and his OBP. It's all or nothing and and outside last years .339m which is still not all that good, his numbers have been in decline the last 4 years and considering that 4 years back it was only .316, he hasn't been good at finding his way on base for a bit. He doesn't flash enough power to ignore those numbers, at least for me.

I could see a whole new outfield next season, but suspect they'll stick with Teoscar, MAYBE give Pages one more look, but we've tried Outman and now Pages, and both have pretty much shit the bed. I do see a new 2B, but suspect Muncy comes back at third.

IN the end you could be correct, with 4 new bats and possibly 5, my best guess however is 3, 2B, LF, CF. There is also a possibility they look for a bopper at 3B and shift Muncy back to 2B if they keep him. I think much of that depends on who is available to them at those relative positions.

Priority guess? LF, 2B/3B whichever they find better value at, CF, RF.

Also, HAVE to shore up that bullpen and find and ACTUAL closer if the Dodgers are not going to bludgeon teams into submission, which they so far do not. Edwin Diaz, now that he's on the market would be a nice get, but would cost big money. They could try and go with Roki, but at the end of the day, I think they send him back to the rotation, especially with Kershaw out of the mix. (Though if I hear Kershaw has taken up throwing the Javelin in the offseason, I'd be looking for an UNretirement notice from him!) At the end of the day the man DID go 11-2 with a respectable 3.36 or so ERA. Biggest issue was losing the pop on the fastball, and struggling a bit with command. Needs to get Verlander's magic juju. He did, however, mostly keep them in the games he started, though he was essentially a 5-6 inning starter. I see Yamamoto, Snell, Ohtani, Glasnow, Sasaki. Sheehan could get a look, also Stone who was their best pitcher for a while. Those last two could have some value on the trade market for a hitter/bullpen guy. We got some value for Pepiot, and both those guys are better, and pitching is still at a premium

JMO .. for what it's worth

We got some value for Pepiot, and both those guys are better, and pitching is still at a premium

JMO .. for what it's worth
damn GR go off.....where do I start

Catcher: I think they are set they have guys in the minors that can step up
1b: freeman, muncy, Kike, whoever else....not worried about this spot
2b: Kim....I would like to see him get a shot. he is unreal defensively just needs to hit better. Miggy Ro backup
SS: I don't like Mookie in this position I want him back in RF but I know that won't happen...backup needs to be found
3b: 100% needs to be addressed. Muncy is not an everyday player. Muncy can play either 1b or 3b
OF: edman, kike, pages, teoscar, call ( only in a pinch ), need to pick up 2 FA's.....AND NO KYLE TUCKER OR BELLINGER PLEASE
Pitching: hopefully Grove and Gosolin, sp?, comes back. In addition with the starters they currently have I think they are fine but with injuries they should add 1 starting pitcher. Bullpen needs work. I think Sasaki has to go back to being a starter. I think between Stone, Sheehan, Grove and Gosolin they should be fine. you can never have enough pitching
