Tutu Atwell’s Muted Performance Gives Jordan Whittington Edge in WR3 Battle
It appears Jordon Whittington is in the best position for the WR3 role, leaving Atwell as the same player he has been since he was drafted – a spot player who can occasionally come up with a deep toss.

Atwell is too small to block, break tackles, or extend plays after the catch. With all the cross traffic in the secondary, I often wonder how Stafford even sees him downfield.

$10M for 'a spot player who can occasionally come up with a deep toss'.
Rams just paid $10,000,000 for our #4 WR spot.
Snead... really man?

Re: Tutu Atwell’s Muted Performance Gives Jordan Whittington Edge in WR3 Battle
Or, if he does the same stats as last season (42 receptions at 562 yds) that figure comes out to $238,095 a catch and $17,794 a yard.
Upland, so basically every time this dude catches a ball and gets ONE YARD, he just bought nice condo w that catch... And for every yard... a brand new Mazda.
Bananas
To me, that is one AWFUL ROI for the Rams... Just awful. Honestly, so puzzling we gave this amount. Either the dude has the best agent in the business, or Snead and Sean wont swallow their pride w this pic.
And dont get me wrong, I like Tutu, hes great to have on the team... but not for $10M at the #4 WR spot.

The good news is that they have a guy who is better than TuTu that they got in the 6th round. It seems to me like they are compensating TuTu for being such a great team guy the past few years, particularly since when he plays he generally produces.

Deal is...none of those guys have Tu2's speed...when all your wideouts are running 4.55 the defense scoots up....Tu2 keeps them honest

agree on the speed element of Tutu. Just not sure whose responsible. granted it's up to him to catch the freakin ball but as far as him blocking I think that is ridiculous. he isn't a blocker so create schemes that benefit his speed. The dude can get open that is for sure. He needs an opportunithy

Old subject spoken about a lot last 2 years…….
Most of us have agreed in the past he gets open and has a high percentage of catches when the ball is thrown to him. And as we have talked about over n over again McVay hasn’t made it a priority to get him the ball n neither has Stafford. Can’t catch what isn’t thrown to you……..
Hopefully that changes with Kupp gone. Whether he gets the additional looks or Willingham does I don’t really care as long as it is more than just Nocua n Adams……

He’s an expensive luxury, a Luxury we can afford because of such great mid to low round picks. I agree he keeps opposing Defenses honest. I actually think Whittington will be the true #3. A bigger Woods. Plus more 12 once Ferg catches on.
It’s a long season and everyone will not stay healthy, so I am happy to have multiple attacks locked and loaded.

Lots of negativity on Tutu but maybe its a case of Jordon Whittington just being darn good and unexpectedly surpassing him i.e. a pleasant surprise. Nothing wrong with that even if we did pay Tutu big $

I keep thinking about how effective Atwell was most of the times Kupp was out with an injury.

I’m very excited about the offense’s options.

Look, I do not have any hate for Tutu, and I do appreciate his speed. My only issue is, $10M for our #4 WR is a lot.
Per Ramswire...
Loser: Tutu Atwell
Nacua, Adams, Mumpfield and Jordan Whittington all turned heads in training camp for their positive progression. The same can’t be said about Atwell. He didn’t have his usual quarterback throwing the ball to him, which doesn’t help, but there was little made about Atwell’s play in practice.
That’s probably not a good sign, and from the few videos out of camp, it looked like Atwell struggled to hold onto some of the deep balls Jimmy Garoppolo threw him – passes that were perfectly on target.

I was surprised as most when they gave tu2 a 1/10 deal, but did I miss something? Have the Rams announced that Atwell is #4 or is this a forum designation?
