Kyren Williams contract
I like what Williams has done for us but this article is exactly why we need to be very careful with his contract.

Interesting.. I like KW but to me it feels that we can slot someone else in there and they would do equally as well.. maybe better.. I would definitely not give him big bucks.

Re: Kyren Williams contract
I don't see KW as a top 20 RB in the League and am on the side that doesn't want to commit alot to him.
RB's like Barkley and Mixon are good examples of established backs that can be had via trade or as a FA.

Well said. If I was Williams I would take a fair deal with Rams and prove my worth and possibly go to SB. Or play for jets.NN1Badboy wrote: ↑July 1st, 2025, 6:56 pm I like what Williams has done for us but this article is exactly why we need to be very careful with his contract.

Re: Kyren Williams contract
Kyren is a good RB. He is not elite at all. And the fumbling issues will follow him the rest of his career.
Sadly, Good RBs can be had in rounds 3-6 of the draft each year. No need to pay big bucks to keep him happy.
If need be: Next man up.
Now for OT, that's a different issue.

Re: Kyren Williams contract
Unless it’s a Barkley level talent, the Rams should never give a drafted RB a second contract. There’s just too much wear and tear on RBs after 26

Re: Kyren Williams contract
Man, do I just totally disagree w this article. IMO, KW is your average RB, so he should get paid like one. If we jump the gun and pay him too soon and too much, will just turn out like a Todd G situation. PLEASE RAMS, take your time on this.

Re: Kyren Williams contract
Who wrote the article his agent? Again as most if not all Rams fans have mentioned at this point play does not match highest dollars. That article was blatant subjective favoritism of KW.

Re: Kyren Williams contract
You know, with as much as I love Kyren and the production he gives us AT TIMES, I don't think he should get elite rb pay for average rb play. I wouldn't mind using a committee approach though to see what the young bucks tho. But man, he's gotta do something about those costly fumbles.

Re: Kyren Williams contract
A few more reasons why I would not extend Kyren yet.
Rams running back coach on Hunter.
“Hunter brings a different skill set than that of Williams and Blake Corum, who are both physical runners who are better when running between the tackles. Hunter has excellent speed, as evidenced by his 4.44 in the 40-yard dash, and he was one of the most explosive running backs in the FBS last season.”
His 18.9% explosive play rate was second in the 2025 draft class, behind only R.J. Harvey – a second-round pick by the Broncos. His speed has already flashed in practice, according to Rams RBs coach Ron Gould, but he brings power to the table, too.
"His superpower is his speed. He's really fast," Gould told Wyatt Miller of TheRams.com. "And then the second thing is, if you get the pads on you, he's a heavier guy, he's a guy who can go north and south, and he's a guy who's gonna be able to come out of a lot of tackles."

I rather pay a bit more in the future than be STUCK in a big contract that will hurt us for years to come. The odd part to me, is when did KW's extension even become 'a thing'?. If you look at the guy, hes pretty average. Has some great break away speed, but his fumbling issue's are a bigger issue to me.
I HATED that we extended Gurley when we did and for the amount (and boy did that come back and bite us)... so now seeing this w KW, I hate it even more. Dude is no TG (in TG prime)

Re: Kyren Williams contract
I dont get the rush. KW is under contract, he is a rb (who are risky longterm signings), Rams have addressed the RB position the last two years adding young talent.
Let KW play out the last year of his deal and then he can hit the market and find out his value. The rams can see what his value is vs who is currently on the roster vs who they can draft in 2026.
Now of course if the Rams can get KW on a low end deal then fine, but it is obvious that KW agent isn't going to allow it.
With that said, I wouldn't be surprised if the rams, agrees, and will let KW play out his contract and address his contract next year.

Re: Kyren Williams contract
Just the tip...
Wonderful, so not only does he have fumbling problems, he now has tipping problems.
Oh yes, lets just jump on this contract and pay the man top dollar now!
Rams, dont be this stupid. Give it time. Make him prove it during the season. If his cost goes up at end of year BECAUSE he had a stellar season, thats just fine. BUT, if we pay him top money now, and he has an awful season, we're screwed in dead cap hell once again (See Gurley, Goff, and so many others please)

Re: Kyren Williams contract
Yep...I know the fumbles can be cured....it's how you carry the rock....Tiki Barber was a known fumbler but fixed it with ball positioning. I have watched alot of KW's fumbles and it's when he get's the rock away from his body and horizontal, it gives the defenders a big area to punch it out....good runners usually have the ball snug against the body at about a 45 degree angle and that gives the runner more control.
