Rotation
What SHOULD have been a possible strength is turning into a flat out shit show. Snell, Sasaki, Yamamoto, Glasnow, guys are all made of fucking spun sugar

Re: Rotation
you need 9 starters now because it seems like everyone is getting hurt. Glasnow is a china doll

Re: Rotation
Snell is not a whole lot better, and Sasaki had issue last season in Japan and now this season already. Add in Buehler, Gonsolin and May .. and perhaps a nee medical staff and/or pitching coach might be in order

Re: Rotation
problem is at least in the US youth baseball is the reason all these pitchers break down so much. growing up we never played year round like they do now.

Re: Rotation
Has any team ever gone through so many injuries to the starting rotation? We know Glasnow wouldn't make it through the season. Don't know why they signed him to a long term deal. But I thought he'd at least make it through May.
Its amazing they're still winning games. A testament to the depth. At least the lineup is back to healthy for now. Gonsolin and May need to step up. Knack is just place holder till guys get healthy. Still not sure how much Kershaw can add. If he can get close to what he was a couple years ago I'd be happy with that. He's a savvy vet who's lost some of his fastball but still has a good curve and slider.

Kershaw is done sorry but true. agree with your comment on May and Gonsolin.snackdaddy wrote: ↑May 27th, 2025, 9:44 am Has any team ever gone through so many injuries to the starting rotation? Re: Rotation
I swear .. I've slipped into an alternate universe. Dodgers team ERA is now 4.2, but that's to being 1 or 2 in almost every offensive category hitting .. they have the best record in the league and are putting some distance between them and the rest of the West.
Meanwhile .. May sucks balls every time he goes out there, the bullpen is now the poster child for inconsistency, partly due to their being used like a 2 dollar hooker ... and Kershaw is suddenly 4-0.
Ohtani throwing BB's on the mound, which worries me immensely, and I haven't heard squat about Glasnow and the apparently noodle arm rook from Japan

Re: Rotation
Sasaki is not coming back until close to the playoffs is what I heard. Glasnow who knows. I thought Snell was close but I guess nowGoldenRam wrote: ↑June 29th, 2025, 6:28 pm I swear .. Re: Rotation
Hell, I already forgot all about Snell being on the roster ... If that is the case with Sasaki, I'd say two things, shelve him til next season and they apparently did NOT do their due diligence before signing him. That contract is starting to look like flushed money.

Re: Rotation
Well .. not the best start he's made this season .. but Kershaw with another win .. he's turning back the clock as far as results go, becoming a stopper. Not the same guy obviously. Not even sure he's hitting 90's at this point

Re: Rotation
Turns out Kershaw has had one hell of a month. 5 starts for 1.91 ERA. Whip is high this season, more walks and that reduced velocity means more hits, but at least for this month, he is getting the outs when he needs them.
Does make one wonder about Verlander and Scherzer .. how they are managing to keep velocity up. Verlander sucks this season but his average fastball is still 94 mph at 42, sorry, something there seems to be running as GIGO.
Scherzer is 41 and still hitting 93.7
Meanwhile Kershaw at 37 is 89 on the fastball

Re: Rotation
Kershaw could hang around and be a modern day Jamie Moyer if he wants even at reduced velocity. Lefties don’t need to throw hard.
Moyer pitched from 1986 - 2012.
He was a starter on some great Phillies team from 2007-2010 at ages 44-47.
So Kershaw could conceivably pitch another 6-10 years if he wants. His stuff is better than Moyers. I doubt he will but it’s be cool if he did.
For being a non hall of fame player, Moyer had an incredible career

Re: Rotation
Ouch.. not much a game by Kershaw, but he remains a lucky penny as Dodgers come back, scoring 13 to take him off the hook
Hearing the Dodgers are considering Sasaki for bullpen duty .. don't like that idea. If he isn't ready to start, shut him down, take the lost season and work on his health in the offseason.
