Let’s see what happens with our next pick.
The more I read about him and the more I listen to McVay, I'm sold. I think he's faster and a lot more athletic than our current TE's. All of them.

Truth wrote: April 25th, 2025, 5:25 pm On the surface it looks terrible. You had various plug n play starters at high value positions like CB and even OT and you take a 3rd tight end. Just bad value here given what the team needs.
it is fucking terrible because they don't target the tight end that much anyway, so now you have a third tight end trying to get targets in 11 personnel sets, and we pass up plug and play three down starters for that??? Bowers is lucky Mcvay didn't trade up for him last year , he targets the TE three or four times a game.
And that also could be, aside from Higbee, guys weren't reliable fir more targets? I'd live to have a LaPorta type TE. I guess we have to wait and see, and hope he is one of those guys. With Puka and Adams getting defensive attention, it seems that the TE should get opportunities.

We’ve seen no indication McVay can judge tight end talent or knows how to utilize it? It’s pretty sad that he has Chris Cooley on his mind going back to his days in Washington.

To those of you who are down on this pick, I think you may be missing something. For me, this pick indicates that McVay plans to run more two TE sets or to at least target his TEs more frequently. That McVay hasn't relied on his TEs more in the past is probably a function of not having a really good TE to rely on. Higby is frequently hurt, and his back-ups aren't much. If Ferguson is as good as McVay must believe, I think we'll see a lot more of our tight ends, especially in the red zone, which I think we'll result in a lot more TDs. And at 250 pounds, could he play the role of a fullback from time to time. I know Ferguson is a little light for that, but he appears to be a willing blocker, which we know is important to McVay. Bottom line: I'm excited about this pick. I think it could lead to more first downs and TDs. Time will tell.

We really needed a TE. 26 spot wasn’t the spot to take one. (I would have preferred Campbell/Starks) but Rams decided to trade, gain a pick, and still get a decent TE. We will never k ow if this was the one they wanted. I think a couple went between 26-46.

Exactly. Actually looks good on paper if we utilize him.

Like he did to his TE's @ WASH. They thought hard about taking him at #26 = pretty sure that's the idea (pass weapon). I think whatever he had designed offensively for Bowers and Loveland still stands for Tferg
