Rams Scheme Needs and Wide Receiver Prospects
The Rams have needed a slot receiver for two seasons now. Very, very little production during this time. However this years class provides only one prospect at the top of the draft that is projected to be able to be effective at the next level aligning inside, Treadwell, and many mocks now have him coming off the board before Rams select, mocking him to the Giants. Although the need is of glaring nature, in no scenario do I see it worthwhile for Rams to move up and select Treadwell to fill this need.
Coleman is an intriguing prospect but as with Tavon his production is limited to vertical routes aligning outside the numbers. If the Rams do indeed select Coleman at 15 this draft, it will speak volumes towards their desire to keep Austin beyond his initial rookie contract. Coleman can align out of backfield similar to Tavon but as a pure wide receiver he appears to have an edge on Austin due to his leaping abilities and ability to break back on ball. In fact even with Austin now entering season 4 with Rams, Coleman may already possess the better receiving skills compared head to head with Austin.
The rest of the wr's at the top of the draft all have very similar profiles, projected ceilings of a number 2 wr aligning outside at next level, why Braxton has generated so much buzz despite of his limited experience. This years class is extremely shallow if you are seeking a slot receiver.
It is also why the German receiver has generated so much buzz, that is how bad this class is. A great year for Snead to follow Fisher's advice on selecting wide receivers in round 1, doing so this year could very well result in getting this regime fired.
Despite Rams needs the top of the draft at TE is very, very shallow as well. In fact the top TE had a poor showing at combine and may no longer be the top TE on many draft boards league wide. Clearly the Rams largest needs are just not available at the top of this draft but they could find value at the positions later in the draft.
Is drafting Derrick Henry looking any better now?

Re: Rams Scheme Needs and Wide Receiver Prospects
Henry at 15 would be foolish with all the other needs we have. Now, if he indeed falls to us in the second, i’d scoop him up in a heartbeat, and pair him with Gurley, and Cunningham. Then i’d trade Mason to the highest bidder.

WRs: I like Doctson early but I don't know that the Rams will take him as early as #15 and I don't see him lasting until #43. If we want him, we have to pull the trigger early.
I like Jordan Payton (ucla) too, especially if he lasts until our 3rd (#76).
TEs: was liking Higbee late, but that ship sailed when he got arrested this weekend. Either Henry in the 2nd or Adams (SC) . I just hope the Rams draft a TE w/ hands who can get down field.
