With a team like this that you are playing, you go for the first down to end the game

They went 88 yards as I took a sip of beer. Pathetic. They just play soft or lose all sense of game plan. No idea

3rd and 1 in empty backfield set… turned around the game, had ample chances to beat our arch nemesis…

Oh well, I rekindled my seething hatred for these Niners…

Wrong. Game plan to stick with the run doesn't mean you MUST run every play. Play action on third down, when they know you're running the ball probably makes for an easy 8 yard completion.

Yes he could have iced it. Get a first down and it was over. He played it too safe.

Empty backfield at the end of the half on 3rd and 1 and then he doesn't go for it on the last drive in regulation. Sometimes I wonder what McVay is thinking. If we would of rolled out on first down and hit the TE (or whomever) game is over. Instead we played right into their hands. Defensive alignment on their last drive was pathetic. We should of won that game but oh well. Perhaps the Rams will finally learn that you...

#1. Stack the box and dare Jimmy to beat you with his arm...
#2. Blitz a heck of a lot...
#3. Jam their receivers at the LOS...

We have to put max pressure on their O. Instead we play back or so it seems...

Guys can we be honest? The 49'ers coach understood and understands what the Rams REAL Achilles heel is? The defense and the offensive lines. We could have Tom Brady and it would not matter. It is fairly clear. Good teams handle the Rams because of those two areas and the Niners control the Rams pass rush. Goodness every time we play this team Garrapolo plays like Peyton Manning. No pressure or very little gives a mediocre QB look great.

Yes. That was the key to the game. We probably would have converted on a third down short pass. First down and it was knee time.

Nobody screams at him to be afraid to pass on third down. He deliberately gave the ball back to SF.

Agreed - the OL was overmatched the entire game...

On O they pushed our DL back constantly. We don't have enough beef up front nor a stud MLB to fill the gaps...

I would have attempted 1 throw there bc I don’t think there’s a big difference between 1:24 88 yards and 1 TO, vs same distance and 0 TOS.

But even not converting there, it’s still on the defense. Going 88 yards in less than 1:30 is extremely difficult

He thought the D would hold, instead backed em up to their own 35, after a penalty, then allow a play to our 35…

Jimmy Crapola shouldn’t go 88 yards in you inside two minutes with no timeouts.

People love being devils advocate. Same people would be bitching about an incompletion saving a TO for SF.

I'm sick of the Rams players saying they are tired of hearing about the 49ers having their number. Then the same Rams players losing to them.

Exactly!!...The 49ers absolutely knew we were going to run the ball, you throw a short pass on 2nd down, game over

Again folks if you've watched enough football you always try and win the game with your offense. The reward for getting a 1st down is GAME OVER. The reward for running it again is them burning a timeout and they still have life.

Jimmy did beat us. They didn't run all over. They ran well. But JG beat us on a pathetic game from our secondary and poor tackles all game.

What makes you think the rams definitely gets the first down through the air? For all we know the rams could have attempted a pass, it fell incomplete and the clock stops, leaving the niners a time out.

Stick with the run…. That’s what everyone screams!
Mcvay doesn’t have the in game sense of doing what needs to be done at a certain point in time in a game, you have to have that awareness where you know that he needs to run or throw, he does what ever he is set on come he’ll or high water.

McVay doesn’t trust Stafford’s decision making. 8 tds and 8 int’s in the past 4 games is pretty hard to have confidence in. Stafford has had a few good quarters down the stretch but his overall play these past 4 games doesn’t breed much confidence.

The game plan against the Rams was stop the run and make Goff beat you. The only thing that has changed is the names.
