Where was Jefferson?
Seemed like Skowronek got a lot of snaps - especially in the second half. Any indications Jefferson got hurt or was sitting for any particular reason? Seemed weird.

Re: Where was Jefferson?
Jefferson was targeted 5 times and had 4 receptions……..
Skow was targeted twice and caught both………
Rams run at times 4 WR sets and Skow is the 4th WR…….
If we saw the game we noticed Jefferson in routes but just didn’t get the ball………
Not sure why the thread. Jefferson was on the field. And his targets over Skow indicates this. He isn’t going to be targeted as much as Kupp n OBJ……….

Re: Where was Jefferson?
THIS was the reason for the thread.......
"The biggest surprise is that Van Jefferson only played four more snaps than Ben Skowronek. Jefferson wasn’t on the field at all during the Rams’ game-winning drive and it appears his last play came on Sony Michel’s touchdown run with 12:09 left in the game. Skowronek replaced him during that last drive, catching one pass for 15 yards with under three minutes to play. McVay didn’t say anything about Jefferson getting hurt, so it’s unclear why he wasn’t playing down the stretch.

I certainly thought while watching the game that he was out there much more than Skow………….

Re: Where was Jefferson?
Is Ben a better blocker? Did VJ get injured? I'm surprised by 4 snap difference as well.

Re: Where was Jefferson?
I was more encouraged by Skow making some key catches than I was worried about VJ, although Stafford throwing to triple-coverage OBJ instead of wide open in the left flat Jefferson was really bad.
Just based on the past few games, Kupp (obviously) is Staff’s go-to guy but number 9 clearly likes Beckham and in many instances he’s made it pay off.
OBJ has played seven games for LA now, he has 25 catches and a TD in all but two games. It’s good to have those strong hands when you need to move the chains or get 6.
In those same seven games VJ has averaged three receptions a game and caught 3 TDs.. In the nine games before that he also averaged three catches and had 3 TDs.
I’m a HUGE VJ fan so I was really hoping he’d have an expanded role when Woody went down. Time will tell if Rams can maximize his talents down the stretch, we all know he’ll be needed.

Re: Where was Jefferson?
Staff hit OBJ for the 1st down right at the sticks, on 4th and 5 with the game on the line... we lose w/o that catch... next play he hit him for the winning score... Yeah I would say Staff likes him too...harkin wrote: ↑January 3rd, 2022, 10:00 am Just based on the past few games, Kupp (obviously) is Staff’s go-to guy but number 9 clearly likes Beckham and in many instances he’s made it pay off.

Re: Where was Jefferson?
I believe down the stretch the Rams were running the hurry up...this does not allow for substitutions on offense or defenseidahoramfan wrote: ↑January 3rd, 2022, 7:46 amTHIS was the reason for the thread.......

Re: Where was Jefferson?
I think I found the answer. VJ missed a few days if practice last week and Ben had to fill in
However, Snead also praised Skowronek's blocking ability and accompanying physical traits – an important part of Rams' wide receivers responsibilities in the offense that certainly has helped him see the field with that unit.
That learning curve has also been helped by working closely with Kupp, who this week praised the "incredible job" Skowronek has done coming in and learning the offense, as well as the detail and and speed which he's playing with. All of which, according to Kupp, is allowing Skowronek to play faster and think less and play without fear of making mistakes – all important signs of progress.
"I thought filling in for Van on a couple things where Van was out a couple of days of practice (last week), but being able to come in, be as detailed as he was – obviously you see the stuff, making the big play there on the last drive, being able to get Odell open on the game-winning touchdown," Kupp said. "But the stuff he was doing before that – blocking, the speed that he was (at) in terms of pushing down the field and opening guys up underneath, he was doing some really good stuff for us."

Re: Where was Jefferson?
Still can’t believe that 4th down conversion. If you’re a Ravens fan, that crushed you. If you’re a Rams fan, you knew the game was most likely ours. Great teams make that play. Don’t care how we win, 12-4 is great!Rampager66 wrote: ↑January 3rd, 2022, 10:06 amStaff hit OBJ for the 1st down right at the sticks, on 4th and 5 with the game on the line... we lose w/o that catch... next play he hit him for the winning score...
