Trade up for QB

Post by Clovis »

I''m not saying we should or should not. Does anyone think we will? We have a young and talented team. I believe we can afford to trade up. What I don't know is if there is a top QB worthy of trading up for. What do you think? Is there a QB worthy of the #1 pick?

IMO non of these QBS are worth giving up multiple picks. They all are reaches in the first round. I truly believe that our QB play would be better with better reveivers. Our QBs, have no confidence in our receivers. We need to draft 2 of these 3 WRs: L. TREADWELL; T. Boyd or J. Doctson. In the first 3 picks. If H. Henry is available I'd take him too. No QB will excel with our set of WRs.

The cost is to high to go to go top 5. We should not have won those last 3 or 4 games. :o I would give up a third to move into the 9 to 12 spot for our guy if available. I believe the Eagles will let Bradford go as his demands are twice the market. That means they will draft a qb. We need to jump in front of them.

My main fear is this: I've heard quite a bit that none of the QBs this year are all that great. I don't want to reach for a QB out of need. That won't improve the team. It will set the team back. Even more so if we sacrifice a bunch to move up.

No, we need an impact player who can start day one. This team is ready to compete now and a rookie QB will just sit on the bench.

If the question is do I think they will trade up for a QB, I'd say no. I just don't think Fisher will even take a QB in this draft. He needs to win now and there probably isn't a QB in this draft who will help him accomplish that goal this season. If the question is do I think there is a QB worth trading up for, I'd say yes. IMHO, Goff will be a very good QB...eventually. Would he help Fisher keep his job after another 6-10, 7-9, 8-8 type season? Only if Stan told him to do it. Which could happen. I would imagine drafting a Cal kid like Goff after a huge trade up deal would create excitement in Los Angeles and the NFL. I think it's highly unlikely but I wouldn't complain if it happened. I wouldn't like it much (at this time) if they traded up for either Lynch or Wentz (even though I think they will also become good QBs) but I wouldn't hate it. The only QB they could draft (of the top rated 5-6) that would really piss me off is Connor Cook. Just don't think he's any better than Mannion.

Rams should not trade up - too many holes to fill. A good QB with a bad line and poor receivers isn't able to win. Look at the poor season Andrew Luck had in Indy- rated below Foles by PFF.

I am probably in the minority but I really do like the top 3 QB prospects (Wentz, Goff and Lynch) and I am hoping the Rams can get one of these players (Personally prefer Wentz) but I agree with you that I would not pay the price to jump to the top 5 (Unless, by some miracle they got an offer too good to refuse!). But, I do hope the Rams can make a reasonable deal to move up high enough to get one of these three players! We can always say "Wait until next Year" but I am hoping the Rams don't pick high enough in the near future to be in position to get a top QB prospect so they might better get one this Draft IF they get that opportunity!

Was looking for an old post for another reason, and ran across this from Lynyrd in 2016. This particular post was before the 2016 draft, and I have to say... this poster was not only right on, but when this all occurred it changed the Rams direction forever. He was correct, we did trade up for Goff and it did excite a lot of Ca fans. Goff and McVay were on fire (until they weren't) but those couple of seasons were pretty darn special. After a decade of complete trash, we came back to our rightful home, took a chance on some funny looking kid who never head coaches in the NFL, traded the World to get Goff and boom... we were off.

It is funny how he thought Fisher wouldn't take a QB in the draft, because Mr Defense never went heavy on Offense in the drafts imo. But I do think Snead came in and told Fisher, we need a QB, so who is your favorite because we have to make it happen.

The question now is, do we take another trip to Cabo when a QB like Burrows is on vacation there, or do we pull a '16 and sell the farm to move up to get a Manning, Nussmeier, Klunik or a Sellers? Hmmm.

remember Burrow's yr there wasn't one scout that had him as a 1st round pick. Somebody will separate from the crowd not named Manning. Key I think is ATL. Have to hope they have a bad yr so we can have a top pick. I could see us trading up too but hopefully they don't give up too much.

Holy crap. I started reading this thread and my brain time warped on me. Didn't know of my brain finally shut down on me, or were the past 10 years just a dream!
