1. tempo tempo tempo, slow down their pass rush, get them tired for a series or two

2. run/pitch out of the gun

3. throw out of heavy 6 lineman formation

4. 2/3 designed runs for stafford

5. roll stafford out

6. play 2 TEs throw to Blanton

7. blitz the A gaps

8. rotate DL for FUKKKKKS sake

9. bring 8 in the box a lot

10. press cover and bump Kittle a lot

11. play 3 lbers or 3 safeties

12. Do better than a 24/1 ratio for carries by Akers/Michel.

Totally agree but we have to scheme much better and our guys have to get more wins upfront

Sony had majority of the carries vs the niners, it didn't work. It was a 21/5 mix sony/akers. Rams ol needs to generate a push instead of getting their manhood taken by the niners dl.

Sony had majority of the carries vs the niners, it didn't work. It was a 20/5 mix sony/akers
I think we should be 2/3 Akers 1/3 Sony, Akers makes more tacklers miss and IMHO much more twitchy. Sony is good for those dirty 3 yd carrys. But to assume Akers is in football shape for a 25 carry game with 5-6 passes may be aggressive.

I think maybe now he can feel comfortable putting the game into Matt Stafford’s hands to finish a game with a lead… keep running the ball, but if it’s still the 3rd quarter, none of that 3 and out… Keep giving them our offense, all that they can take…

I agree he used Akers too much last game. Sony should have got at least 5 carries. With that said it will be hard to run the ball against the niners with either back if the rams ol doesn't stop allowing the niners to smack them around.

Agreed. The rams got Stafford for a reason, if the run isn't working, don't force it. Allow Stafford to do his thing, with that said, limit the empty set (unless it's a screen), at least make the niners think you might run. When a empty is ran they just go all out to get Stafford.

Offense needs to stay on the field and tire these front 4 out. Will be hard to do, but I think we will need a rollout as the OP suggested. any plays to get these big men running around the field. Screens- which we are NOT good at.

I like this list. I think McVay needs a lot of introspection on why we lost those other games and come up with a different plan.

To me we stop the run and we win. This is #1. I don't think Jimmy G beats us with his arm. We can get to him with our rush especially with Compton at RT and Williams possibly not playing or not 100%.

Slow down their rush via a chip or extra man staying in or a extra OLman added. We have too many weapons for the 9ers imo just need the time to get the ball to them and not under duress.

McVay must scheme to take Deebo out of their plans and same for Kittle the rest as you saw in TB are not beating you. We limit Deebo and Kittle each to 50 total yards we win it's that simple but McVay needs a new way of attacking them.

All of our pass coverage schemes should be based on inside leverage. Clog up the passing lanes in the middle and make Jimmy G. beat us by throwing outside the numbers. He doesn't have the arm strength or proper footwork to consistently drive the ball to the outside when his receivers are running away from him. When the Packers forced him to throw outside, he hung some throws that could have been picked off.

Yeah, those empty sets make me nervous…

Earth to you:

It was Akers’ first game back after surgery and McVay said he’d see limited carries, which any thinking person would understand. Most Ram fans would know that ancient history.

Once Akers proved healthy, McVay split them 17/13 in Akers favor in the Wild Card game but Michel had more yds/carry.

McVay then perplexed Ram Nation by going 24/1 Akers vs the Bucs even though Akers was having a rough time and had two turnovers. If you’re saying McVay shouldn’t even have tried Michel more then lololol.

Who said that? I said in multiple posts that Sony should have got at least 5 carries against the Bucs.

I also said that the running game didn't work vs the Niners in week 18, despite a 21/5 mix featuring more of Sony (21 carries). I pointed out that Sony and Akers had 26 carries between them for just 46 yards. What part did I say wasn't right.

Yeah McVay, do things different. How dare you have us in home field advantage in the NFC Conference game! The OP and others know better than you! 🙄🙄🙄

Army maybe you’ve been away, let me catch you up, the Niner have bittttch slappped us 6 times in a row, most of the time with significant injuries and not at full strength

The post wasn’t questioning if McVay is a good coach . He’s a great coach against the 30 other teams in the NFL, we need him to be a great coach Sunday and IMHO he’s gonna have to do some things different

I haven’t been away, well aware of the bitch slap the Niners have given us. I’m also aware that you’re not criticizing McVay as a good or bad coach Im confident that we get the job done this time. In McVay/Morris I trust.

Well, you’re right but it does seem like he has learned his lesson after the Niners took that game from us, several weeks ago. Just gotta limit the mistakes. The Niners can’t cover our receivers, but our defense has to stop the run.
