SO infuriating. It's reached Martzian levels with McVay. "According to the NFL’s Michael Lopez, no coach wasted more timeouts on a per-game basis from 2018 through Week 9 of 2021." Good Gawd.

What's always has me shaking my head is the fourth down TOs. A team winds up say fourth & 1. They line up to go for it, appear confused (not attempting to draw the defense offsides) and call a TO.
Then coming out of the TO they either punt or worse, get a delay of game and have to punt anyway.
I'd expect that the HC and OC would have it already in mind what they want to do in these situations but it seems to occur with a number of teams.

So glad Mcvay had that 1 last time out against the Cards. He needed it for two challenges. Both he won, so he was able to keep his timeout.
In all honesty sometimes a timeout is needed simply because the opposing team defense is set up perfectly to stop what you are about yo do. You can audible, but even then your limited to the personnel on the field. At times I prefer to get the right call and personnel in and waste the timeout. With that says sometimes a timeout is needed bc the players can't line up correctly and /or don't know the play. Those timeouts are unexcusable imo.

Most of the time a Time out is used to avoid a 5 yard penalty………..
You should take the 5 yard penalty and avoid taking the time out most of the time. The time out is more valuable then the 5 yards…………….
