49ers 1981 NFC title game-worth noting?
Joe Montana led the Niners from behind to beat Dallas by one point and punch Joe’s first ticket to the SB.
Nobody gave SF a chance, I mean NO ONE.
If people knowing what they know today, had known Montana had the ball inside the 14 with 1:09 left it would have been OhhhhF#%k. A fait accompli.
Montana tossed 3 INTs and the Niners had 6 Turnovers.
With 47 seconds left Danny White hit Pearson who was horse collared at the Niners’ 44. Today, that would have put the ball at the 29 yd line and Dallas never would have thrown a pass again and kicked a FG. Hence no fumble.
This game was announced by the immortal Vin Scully and Hank Stram. Anyone not lucky enough to see this game live missed a piece of history.
Anyone who says Montana was merely throwing the ball away when he hit Clark for the TD is dead wrong. The pass was high (and safe, are you listening Matt?) but he had him all the way.
PERSPECTIVE. Great teams can overcome almost anything, even 3 picks and 6 turnovers in a championship game but ya gotta believe.

Re: 49ers 1981 NFC title game-worth noting?
Hadn't the 49ers clobbered the Cowboys by something like 45-14 during the 1981 regular season?
Joe Montana vs. Danny White?
I definitely had the 49ers figured to win at home in that contest, which turned out to be the second of three consecutive NFC championship game defeats by the Cowboys...
8-)

UHURA: "Do you think that's all they ever had?"
