Rapp is liability, SF TD, Rapp let WR go free

On the tying SF TD, Rapp was responsible for that WR. IMO, he purposely let WR go free, to pretend he was covering other WR that was already covered. I noticed he plays soft coverage and plays safe. If he plays man, his coverage his lacking. QBs just have to target his side to get a reception. He likes to tackle after the catch, if he doesn't miss first. lol. What supports my opinion, the next defensive series, no Rapp. He was not in the lineup. I think it's time the Rams bench him for good. What say you? Thanks for your comments.

I was always a fan of trying to convert him to play ILB or just be in for plays around the LOS. He's too small, and I just lost trust in his ability at this point. He needs the bench- but who replaces him? Burgess? He has not shown anything good this year. We need to address the secondary in the draft. Used to be deep there. What a crap show now.

I was flabbergasted when I saw how badly he is beat on this
I was like " that's OUR guy?" There is NO ONE on that side!

Good summary of what I have seen from Rapp

24 is on another planet. Some others look lost as well on that play. Its a joke. Like they wanted it to happen.

@ Rico,
I have looked at this a few times... and it almost seems like we were paid to let them score. Look at these screen shots and this zone crap. I AM SO SICK OF MORRIS putting us in these positions! I mean of course we need to blame the players, but this is Morris's D at work here...
Gosh dab nab it darn it!
Horrible

Rapp plays to keep the play in front if him. He is so scared of getting beat deep that on many plays he is covering grass. I remembering someone some time back that he reminds them of Adam Archuleta. I wish. Adam did get beat in coverage but he loved to mix it up and not get caught covering grass. AA was also a better overall tackler.

I blame Morris for keeping Rapp in but half of our defensive problems are personnel.
Burgess might be our best safety and yet Rapp and Scott (who also isn't good) keep getting more playing time. It's maddening.
Rapp isn’t good in coverage. We’ve known that since he was drafted. He can handle intermediate coverage duties close to the line of scrimmage but doesn’t have the speed or athleticism to cover in space. It’s hard to tell who’s actually responsible for a blown coverage. If it was Rapp then he definitely blew the coverage but you got to wonder why Morris puts him in that situation knowing he doesn’t have the skill set to do the job. Rapp would be better used blitzing off the edge and picking up the backs out of the backfield. Morris doesn’t put his players in the position where they are best suited for success and continues to try to put a square peg in a round hole.
Burgess on the other hand has the speed to cover in space. He showed that ability his first year before he was injured. Burgess is hardly ever used even though he’s a much better coverage safety than anyone else including Scott and Fuller.
Burgess is on Morris’s shit list along with David Long. Rams invested draft picks on both those players and they both played under Staley. Morris will only use them as a last resort. I think the Rams have the players on their roster to be a better secondary but they have a defensive coordinator who’s unwilling to give them a chance to play and improve.
Rapp is going to keep struggling but Morris is the reason he’s playing out of position.

Rapp has the same skill set as Archuleta. The further away from the ball he gets the more vulnerable he is. He can’t cover in space. Neither could Archuleta. They are both just small linebackers.

This has happened time and time again. As I said yesterday, he isn’t practice squad material.

Except AA mixed it up and tried to make plays in coverage, Rapp just drops far back and covers grass

At least AA would have been running next to the wr. Rapp is covering grass again.

At least Lovie Smith knew where to play Archuleta. Around the LOS and in blitz packages. Archuleta got big money to go to the Redskins and they put him in the back half of the defense and he was an immediate bust. Good coaches put players in position to succeed. Not a defense of Rapp because he’s playing terrible but more of a reflection of just how poorly Morris is coaching the defense. McVay’s buddy hire cost him one of the biggest games of the season yesterday.

Yeah. Rapp should only play in the box in certain situations.
Lovie soft prevent at the end of the SB was a disgrace. Wasn't a fan of Lovie Defense either.
I like aggressive defenses like Brian Flores. He plays everything from zone, man, cover 2 to a cover 0.
He switches up his style of D to best destroy opposing offenses. The rams need to give him a blank check to be the DC

Man exactly what I been saying. For 3 years now. Everyone just thinks he's too small - which he may be for ILB. But he needs to bulk up a bit and play situations near the LOS. Or not play. But seeing him on these playbacks show he's lost or scared or both. Morris cannot judge s@#$. Read this forum and make some changes. 1 stupid week to get ready. What a waste.

In hindsight, the Rams should have kept Johnson; and let Floyd walk. They may have afforded Hill too in that scenario.

I blame that on fucking Raheem. Great defense in 2020 but wtf happened in 2021? Ruined rapp, did stupid shit with Ramsey, ruined the goddamn defense. He's never been good and why McVay hired him I have no clue. Does McVay have a set of balls? Or does his girlfriend have em?

Yeah, I have no clue wtf Burgess isn't playing. Morris is a dipshit and hope his clueless ass gets fired.

That Next Gen graphic is scary.
I’ll bet that Burgess starts next week.
Fuller is out for the playoffs, so yeah, there is a good chance. Rapp needs to cover running backs and play up near the line of scrimmage, or for another team. Morris still playing him out of position, but then again, I am not at practice. Are our other safeties that bad?

I don't think he ruined Rapp. Rapp was already a poor cover guy, but he hasn't improved and may have gotten worse. Did you notice how he was using Ramsey to blitz early in the season, which didnt pay dividends, and he got heavily criticized by fans, then he pretty much stopped it. I wouldn't mind seeing Flores be our DC. Please NFL teams, someone take Raheem as your head coach. Then we can hire someone else into the DC position and get two 3rd round comp picks in the process.

McVay mentioned yesterday that Rapp was in concussion protocol. Was that caused by a teammate hitting him in the head for being out of position? Maybe.
So thats why Ramsey open handed Rapp in the helmet. He is pissed that he is out of position, often behind Ramsey.

Rapp was bad on Sunday but Ramsey was terrible also. Debo Samuel got several catches against him especially a crucial one on the tying touchdown drive. And guess who left their man in coverage on the Debo Samuel touchdown pass. Watch the replay and you’ll see Ramsey trying to get back in coverage followed by a butt chewing on the sidelines by Morris. Ramsey is freelancing way too much and it cost the Rams on Sunday. So much for being the Defensive Star player. He played like trash.

Rapp should not be the FS period. He doesn't have the skills or speed for it. He should be playing SS. I don't understand what Morris is doing with him.
