Titans game anyone? Same result- pressure up the middle. Shanahan did his homework.

But yet how often did he leave the back and or a TE to help block?
We don't need 5 receiving options every play

Actually quite a bit. The problem was it took longer for the 3 wrs to find a opening, and despite only sending 5 guys the niners still got instant pressure.
The niners at times sent 4 and got instant pressure vs 5 ol and a back/te in protection.

Our interior olinemen looked like little kids playing against grown men. I don't know what these guys do for strength training but they have to make a change or choose another profession.

They have been fairly good in pass protect all year. This was a stinker. Shows that SF just brings so much more intensity and apply pressure in right spots. They do their homework.

It seems like once these huge guys start backpedaling, their inertia makes it easy for smaller but more aggressive guys to get them off balance and get around them or just ride them back into the qb. There must be some kind of technique that these guys haven't mastered that would allow them to at least stalemate their guys long enough to stabilize a pocket. Of course, blitzes are a different story but the Niners were in Stafford's face most of the day whiel rushing only 4.

Bad day at work for some of these guys. Nature of the beast. One false step and you have a knee or foot injury that makes you look bad next week. We don't know how healthy/unhealthy they were. Our interior O-Linemen are average starters. They'll look good against worse opposition, but they'll struggle against superior athletes or speed.
5-wide sets and the lack of a jet-sweep threat accentuate such problems.

Well so many people on here LOVE this line, it makes me want to puke! They have some good games yes, but we certainly can and should do better, it starts with front office that is totally clueless when it comes to this, they believe since we have a great OL coach he can make something out of a bunch of low round projects. We must start picking up high round talent and let Carberry have at it with them. These players get exposed in the big games and will no doubt moving forward in the playoffs. Again, there is talent out there that should be brought in for a look, how about a trade for the Dillard in Philly?

Rams interior line has sucked for years. That's what you get for staffing it with low round picks and cast offs. In this area McVay is as clueless as Martz was. Meanwhile Rams spend all their draft capital on WR's and gadget players like Martz did.

we've been in the playoffs during McVay era...and a SB too. I would not say there has been a failure. Looks at the Jets/Giants. Failure.

there were multiple Rams OL on the ground or just standing by and watching Stafford or Michel get mauled. Seems like they would release (if they even had a good block) too soon and the 9ers would keep playing through to get a sack or pressure. So frustrating. Allen stinks and needs to be out of starting line up. Joe Noteboom needs to start somewhere on that line.

GMF just had Brian Allen listed as the 6th best Center in the league this season?
That doesn't correlate to the info from the OP?

The OP was for the niners game only.
