Yesterday Stafford threw a horrible incomplete pass targeting Kupp down the middle in quadruple coverage on third down that killed the drive but luckily wasn’t picked off (plus I think Higbee was open further out to the right).
After the play, I remember thinking how with Goff we’d have already had seven or eight or ten or eleven of those thru two games.
Every QB makes mistakes but with Stafford (so far) they are kept to a minimum.

Doesn’t get any uglier than that… except for the same play we saw last year.

The pick he threw at Seattle end of the regular year was arguably worse.
If that was the one where he had an open man on the right sideline but instead threw it to a DB with no Ram within 15 yards I agree.

At least Stafford int was tipped and he quickly recovered and got the rams the win after the bad ST play.

Goff let the clock almost expire again...the coach had to call a time out and he looked pissed. Goff has no sense of the time clock. It's such a fundamental part of football when you are the QB. Glad he has moved on down the road.

I have been a Goff supporter he played well tonight outside of the 2 fumbles - one was a bad exchange combined with a lot of rain the other was on him totally. The shot to Hockenson in the back corner was literally perfect. The Lions led at halftime 17-14 then the wheels came off the bus in the second half.
I was going to make a thread on how bad Detroit is, but instead I will say here their Defense is awful it wasn't Rodgers even though he is great the Lions D made him look unbelievable! They couldn't stop him all night. The endless penalties, awful secondary (no Okuda) and that's why Goff lost. Throw in bad play calling 4-1 with a really great running attack (Williams/Swift) they throw an incomplete pass fucking stupid especially with a talented OL and strong Center to push the pile.
It will be a couple years they need better receivers and a lot more on defense.

he has a very good OL in Detroit and when the starting LT comes back it will be even better. Ragnow is a complete beast and Sewell is going to be a good one. But it is the same old Lions. His pass to Hockenson was nice indeed but I never got the sense watching that game he would lead them to victory. It's the same old s**t with him. always a brides maid and never a bride. just glad he is not playing for the Rams anymore.

I was just thinking how happy I am that we have Stafford. As long as we have a QB of this caliber, we will never be out of a game. Even when we lose, I think we will still have a fighting chance. And that is something we never had with Goff. I turned the TV off quite a few times in the 4th quarter because I knew we were done and I couldn't stand to watch the painful ending.

He played very well in the first half but offensively the second half was on him. Critical moments in second half when game was still there for Lions he fumbles and loses a snap followed by he knocks the ball out of his own hand and fumbles again. Just can’t happen period.

Green Bay dropped back in coverage the entire first half giving Goff a clean pocket and daring him to pluck them apart, as he did.
Green bay brought the heat in the second half and dared Goff to fall apart, which he did without a clean pocket.
Goff defined.

Had to work, didnt see much of the game tonight but did see where the ball fell from his hands as he went to pass and just from that one play, I'm so glad he is gone, never been a fan. Yes, one play is unfair to judge but you nailed it on the head. Yesterday when crap started going downhill for the Rams, I knew we werent out of it, I knew it was just a matter of time before momentum went back to us as long as we just weathered the storm. We never had that before.

Making throws with a clean pocket isn’t anything special. When he’s under duress he’s going to give up the football. He can’t play under pressure anymore at all. And some of his errors he makes like awful INTs and forcing his own fumble are just mind numbing.

An awkward boy playing a man's game, a decent guy but has no leadership skills and never will. He only strikes fear in his own coach, the league had his number years ago and nothing will change that. His extension was a gift from the heavens...what could they possibly have been thinking???

I still think his extension was a knee jerk reaction because the Eagles signed Wentz early. The Rams only saw the market as going up if they waited. Hopefully Snead and McVay have learned from the Goff and Gurley mistakes moving forward.

Goff has top arm talent. He showed it alot in 2018 when the rams had a healthy TG for most the year. In 2018/2019, McSnead thought that Goff would eventually clean up his issues and be able to display his top arm talent 90 plus percent of the time. They hoped that Goff, with time, would improve his decision making. They thought, no way Goff doesnt eventually learn where to go with the ball in critical moments. They wanted to get Goff at a discount, figuring he would get better in time, and McSnead was wrong. Yes with a great player like TG and Mcvay helping him read the defense, Goff helped the rams get to the SB, but TG is gone. Teams have now adjusted to Mcvay helping Goff read the defense. Mcvay tried to counter by running a lot of rollouts and quick outs and deception to help Goff be able to find his read and get him the ball. It worked for alot if games but it was a style that couldn't be counted on. Mcvay realized he needs to have a qb that can spread the field, make huge chunk plays, minimize the huge mistake, bring confidence/swagger back to the players, help with the offensive calls, know what to audible too, be able to move the defense with his eyes and be the focal point of the offense. Rams needed a qb upgrade.
Even with a new coaching staff. Goff is still exhibiting those same short comings. Maybe he needs more time, but McSnead didn't have the time to give. The rams are built to win now.

Pretty fair assessment, minus some Goff hate…
He looked great in the first half, the implosion in the second half, which I missed, looked greatly due to the same reason he flopped as a Ram (towards the end)… a team effort and some coaching calls…

Both fumbles were on Goff. Nothing wrong with exchange in regards to what center did…………..
In a “couple of years” they will have another starting QB. It won’t even be that long……………

I do agree that he wasn't worth the extension and said so at the time but t I think a lot of people are way too hard on Goff. Clearly he is not at Safford's level at this point in his career. Remember though, this is the same team that Stafford couldn't win on and this year the team is worse than most of those Stafford teams. We have a new coaching staff and a total rebuild. They were picked to win 3-4 games this year. So two games in - they have been competitive against two of the NFL's top teams. Goff is completing 69% of his passes, has thrown 5 tds, 584 yards, 94.6 qbr - not so shabby on that awful team. Leadership skills - he has a ways to go but I don't see that same deer in the headlights guy that we saw early on in his career. He's hanging in there, talking to receivers, etc. Look---- We all know what the expectations were for Goff --Right now If I was the Lions coach, I would not be disappointed with what I have seen from Goff o far.

This above is the best description I have seen--Goff has great arm talent but not the best head talent. He does not master the game mentally and turns the ball over in critical moments when pressured leading to overwhelming deficits the team cannot come back from. The 49ers had his number and any defense that could stifle the running game and put pressure on Goff gave us fits. Stafford will change plays at the LOS and can handle the pressure. I am very excited about our prospects the next few seasons and we'll know after we have played TB and the 49ers & Cardinals a few times whether Stafford is the real deal or not. Yes I left out Seattle because I don't fear their defense but we still will have to outscore them so we'll soon find about those shootout type games as well......

Goff is no scrub. He's in that Kirk Cousins range though I got Cousins slightly higher.
