Dedich has to go - I hope Dotson is back

Dedich is not up to the task long term. I really hope Dotson is back and if not I would consider putting Havenstein there if he can play. Or RH back to right tackle and play Mcllendan at RG. We need an upgrade at that spot. Dotsons ankle must be a high ankle sprain because he has been out for awhile.

Let's hope Dotson is back at practice this week.

Is it just me or has Stafford not been playing at his “high level” since Dotson was out?

Stafford is the MVP has consistently played at a high level, every loss we have is where he did played down or made enough mistakes to allow that combined with complete special teams breakdowns

He's a backup to a guy who is borderline pro bowler. I expect that his play is <Dotson. That said, we ALWAYS need to reload the OL. I don't think Dedich is trash, but he's not a starter. Costly penalty he had.

love how some of you guys on this forum complain all the time about our OL personnel yet you don't want them to address this in the draft. Or if you do you want them to do it late in the draft.
not saying anyone in general but there are a lot of guys on this forum that think a TE or WR should be the pick.
address it in FA if not the draft

Personally, I don't want to draft a OT in the 1st or 2nd round that will only play if AJ or McClendon (who should get a long-term deal this off-season) get hurt.
Rams need to use their 1st or 2nd round picks on guys who can play at least 50 -60 percent of the snaps, even if someone doesn't get injured.
I do think the Rams need to sign a good backup vet swing tackle. They are out there, Eagles found one "Fred Johnson"
Rams should draft a OL 3rd or later

DOTSON, please play. Dedich played better last week against the Panthers.

Cornell that is a very valid point that is why I have said maybe you address it in FA. Keep in mind these guys get hurt all the time so it is crucial you have quality backups. They need to get bigger in the interior OL too especially at C

I agree. Yet I don’t think I ever saw you ever criticize draft picks like Ferguson

Ferg was playing as much as 70 percent of the snaps before he got hurt. He may put up lots of numbers, but he plays a lot bc he is the best blocking TE on the Rams and can play multiple positions TE and WR.
With that said, I wasn't a fan of the pick when it was made. I didn't realize Mcvay planned on playing 12/13 personnel as much as 50 percent of the time. Now that I know that, I am fine with Ferg pick.

JMO you don’t stop drafting OL. The unit is just to critical to a team’s success. Where in draft? Every year is different. Not really a right or wrong answer IMO……..
You just can’t have the lack of talent in the unit like a DJ Humphrey. It’s why I’m not a huge fan in getting OL depth in FA. Teams don’t let good OL just walk. And let’s be honest we were damn fortunate to get Dotson in a trade……

well I was and I definitely was not happy with the 2nd rounder not playing until the 2nd half of the season. I like him just thought a 2nd rounder needs to play immediately but I will admit I was wrong on that

Dedich is a good backup, but part of the issue is that he’s next to Shelton, making the interior kind of small. When the linemen are standing, 65 and 67 really standout proportionally.

Not me. O Line in the second first round pick is imperative.

Why? Jackson and McClendon are playing great. Avila and
Dotson are great Shelton is solid. I am not against st your pov I might grab someone in the second round but the chance of that player starting is very unlikely. We need defense with the first two picks imo.

He barely played until Week 14. Don’t you want guys playing from the start? So he essentially met your criteria for 4 weeks out of an 18 week season

A 2nd round rookie contributing and playing 70 percent of the snaps around mid season, not contingent on someone being injured. I'm cool with that. Anything over 50 percent, that isn't contingent on someone being injured, is fine with me, from a rookie. He is already the Rams best blocking TE and Rams best down the field TE pass catcher, which will be huge for this upcoming playoff game.
If the rams start the game in 13p, or even 12p, he could be getting the start in a playoff game.

This is where I am. I acknowledge we need to draft a young OT (or decent FA) but maybe in the 3rd. In the 1st and 2nd we can grab starters at positions of need especially CB. We have a lot of pending FA's in the secondary so I would not be opposed to double dipping if we lose Durant, Spoon, DWill, Curl. I know oc mentioned WR and because we run a dynamic offense I would not be opposed to one in the 2nd round. If a top WR slips I might even go WR with pick 1B. Puka gets injured and also gets double covered a lot. Adams won't be here forever.
1A - CB
1B - DB/ILB
2 - WR
3 - OT

Yes- we do need a WR. Maybe easier to grab a FA/Vet at WR than OL.

The way you make it seems Diedich was subpar he wasn't the OL continually scored over 30 ppg and watching the games he played he was solid maybe not Dotson level but we continually gained over 120 yards per game and pass pro was solid. Dietrich was not the issue in any of these last few games, penalties, ints, poor defense and a bad ST play were more the concern. Sure Dotson will be better but Diedich was solid a OL issue was Humphries and his penalties killing drives.

Agreed
Dietrich is a solid backup, the biggest issue is Dotson >> Dietrich. Which would apply to every backup guard in the NFL. Dotson is that good.
DJ Humphries... That's a different story. He sucks and shouldn't be a backup on any NFL team, imo.
