Mcclendon

this guy is playing some really good football, I have to admit I was on the Alaric bandwagon very very early, I was not on the Warren McClendon bandwagon, I was hoping we found somebody bigger to replace Havenstein, but McClendon has been more than solid and if he can be an upgrade from Big Hav, this can be scary.
He had a pretty decent game against Hutchinson who outside of Miles Garrett may be the most difficult edge to block

like how he is playing too but the Rams still need to address OT position in the offseason.

Since he's been in the lineup he's been one of the top tackles in the league. I doubt Hav gets his job back when he's activated. I also think we won't draft a Tackle next year until late in the draft. I have a feeling after the season the Rams will also try to reup his contract...

IMO it would be foolish not to address this position in the offseason. Look at all the teams across the league that thought they were fine until their 1st string goes down. I would be happy with a veteran FA

If they hit on mccclendon they have two youngish OTs.

I guess it all depends on what you mean by "address the OT position".
I believe they get some every year in the draft. Or do you mean sign a vet to replace current starters?

I like to see what DJ Humphries can do. Maybe he is a cheap backup vet option for 2026 too. Hopefully Rams have it all wrapped up by the time they play the cards.

McClendon is a testament to player development. Remember when Fishwr drafted athletes and they all did nothing? Called coaching em up.
McClendon played too early a couple years ago. He’s had two years of seasoning. Rams need a CB more than a Tackle. Of course can get both round 1. Would like a WR too.

Put me on the list too Boyz - he has improved a lot since he first arrived : plays with good balance in PP and despite average size for a RT he gets push in the run game. A keeper . . . And maybe more ?

He improved once we moved him from the left side back to the right side.

Not fair I realize but that one play he was in yesterday he got beat badly…………..
I would prefer he stays on the sidelines………….

Right now I’m not seeing how anyone in draft is going to play better than him right now…………
But like we talked about yes we need to draft OL in 26 for 27…………..

agree but as you know guys get injured so you need depth.....how on earth can you say that nobody they draft isn't going to play better? I like how the OT's are playing but that has been in the last 4 games. We all were screaming about the OL play 3-4 games ago.

We were? I wasn’t n certainly not with McClendon. What was there to scream about with Jackson, Avila, Dotson n McClendon?………
Now Havs we can talk………
It’s a McClendon thread. He has given up how many sacks and pressures when he has started this year……..
Again we are on the same page we need depth. Me? We need to take the opportunity with 2 firsts to do so. But I’m rather confident next year anyone drafted isn’t going to out play McClendon’s play currently……..

Here’s an insane stat. Rams offensive tackles this year (Jackson, Havenstein, McClendon) have been called for ZERO Holding penalties all season.
Think about that.
Stafford has attempted 470 passes.
Rams offensive tackles= 0 holds.
That’s almost beyond comprehension.

if you think going into the off season with Humphries and Hav as your backup OT's is good then you are nuts. Rams have to address the secondary and OT position in the off season. Obviously some of you guys disagree and that is fine. wait until one of them gets hurt then you will see how bad of shape this team is really in.

What part of me saying we need depth oc are you not hearing? I’ve said it how many times in the last week……..
This isnt a OL depth thread. It is a McClendon thread. And again I’m saying he has played himself into a starting position next year……..

I hear you OC and i don't think anyone disagrees with the secondary problem. I just feel that they will go WR in the first with the other pick. Adams is just not that great anymore and Tutu is gone next year. McVay loves skill players on offense. I think OL will be a Centre and OT in rounds 2-5. Starting centre and backup tackle project.

here's what I think about Alaric, when he was in college he started to have the clotting issue, I believe he went on a vegan diet, went from 320 pounds to 285, lot of teams saw him as undersized.
He put the weight back on, in fact if you look at his player card or his bio it's still list him at 6'7 285 but he's quoted as saying he's playing at 340 huge difference

Oh, that's not good
I was just hoping to have it all locked up by the last game to give the backups some run, to see what the rams have depth wise at various positions including tackle.
With that said i wouldn't mind the rams draft a swing tackle that can play some guard, in 3rd round or later, as long as it's not a reach. I dont mind drafting a redshirt 3rd round pick, but there are many here that was angry when Corum was redshirt early on, we even get some posts angry about Hunter being redshirt this year.
There were a thread months ago about the rams needing to stop drafting redshirt players in the 1st 3 or 4 rounds.
So getting a tackle as high as round 3 is pretty much a lose lose situation when it comes to this board.

You are consistent, I'll give you that.
If it were up to you, where would you draft an OT? That is assuming the value matches the spot we pick.

has to be addressed with one of the 1st 3 picks. I think we all get the fact they have to address the defensive secondary and LB position. I also am hearing a lot of people say a WR should be drafted in the 1st round which I don't agree with.

The only way I go WR is if Tate or Tyson drops to us but I don't see that happening, especially with us looking at potential pick #12. If you look in the top 10 I think 2 QB's go, 3 Edge/LB's, 2 WR's, 1-2 OT's, Downs. That might leave us with a shot at the top CB or #2 OT. If the Rams see value in the first 3 rounds they might even trade down. Would a team come up for a 3rd QB?

I think Ty Simpson could slip into a pick in the top 12. I saw one mock had the Rams taking Simpson. I think you are right about us possibly getting the top ranked CB

I saw that mock with us getting Simpson too. Ya know what, If Stafford comes back for another year and they truly love Simpson's upside, I'd do it. He does need a year to sit and develop though because he hasn't played much.

have not seen him play enough this year to have an opinion
